Tey enable users to control a remote machine while experiencing a sense of being in the remote location. Initially, tele-existence was used for remote de-mining and mission-critical tasks in space, to avoid risking human life. Recently it has been applied in many entertainment and gaming applications, to enable a community to play together in one virtual environment and share the experience. Pulli","doi":"10.1145/1666778.1666825","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1145/1666778.1666825","url":null,"abstract":"We present a color correction based image blending approach which is capable of combining a set of aligned source images to a composite image and implement it in a mobile panorama system for creating high-resolution panoramic images on mobile devices. Our color correction is performed in the gamma-corrected RGB color space [2009a]. A global adjustment process is used for smoothing color transition in the whole image sequence and reducing cumulative errors. Unlike the work [2009a] which focuses on solving pixel saturation problems in using diagonal models [2002] in the RGB color space, here we are focusing on improving the blending quality and speed for long image sequences. Color is one of the main attributes that influences human visual system, being ultimately the result of our experience and perception. However, several important applications such as substitution systems for visually impaired people, computerized tomography, printed textbooks and aesthetical stylization still require a reliable grayscale representation of images. Mapping three dimensional color information onto a single dimension while still preserving the original appearance, contrast and finest details is not a trivial task. Standard monochromatic transformations, found in commercial image editing software, neglect the color distribution, being unable to conserve in many cases the discriminability of the original chromatic contrast. Consequently, isoluminant colors are mapped to similar grayscale levels increasing the ambiguity in the decolorized image version. Most existing reconstruction algorithms are designed for oriented data, i.e. point sets with surface normals. However, in some applications, explicit orientation information may not be available, e.g. Shape from Contour (SfC). Besides, the point sets recovered from images and camera calibration are typically noisy and contains defects, e.g. holes or non-uniform sampling.
