As a consequence, there has been an increase in the number of health and allied professionals that have been trained to conduct debriefings. However, as the number and scope of the activities increase, it is not always possible to find expert debriefers who are also experts in the specific content area. Therefore, it is increasingly common for educators to collaborate with content experts in various fields in healthcare, who often have no previous experience with simulation-based education. No references to the particular opportunities and challenges of this interaction has been found. Therefore, the objective was to propose a guide to: 1) describe the advantages of this type of collaboration, 2) discuss common challenges and 3) overcome specific challenges; also, to suggest future directions for research.","PeriodicalId":179877,"journal":{"name":"Revista Latinoamericana de Simulación Clínica","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128575034","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the literature, the current methodology usually involves the permanent presence of clinical tutors for the delivery of effective feedback, also are focused on medical students. Objectives: To assess the acquisition of skills in suture techniques through a training program for health professionals, with a mixed methodology using video-tutorials and effective feedback by experts. Material and methods: A course was designed with four training sessions and deliberate home-practice with videotutorials between each session. Initial and final blind evaluations were performed for four specific suturing techniques, applying OSATS scale and execution Time. A cutoff score of 20 was set. Initial and final evaluations were compared, and subgroup analyzes were performed according to the profession, using non-parametric statistics. Results: 100% of the participants reached a final score ≥ 20 in each technique, also all of them significantly improved their baseline skills and decreased their times. The subgroup analysis by profession did not find statistically significant differences at the end of the course. Conclusion: The suture training program for health professionals, with a mixed methodology through video-tutorials and feedback by experts, was effective for the acquisition of the proposed competencies.","PeriodicalId":179877,"journal":{"name":"Revista Latinoamericana de Simulación Clínica","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132241884","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

ABSTRACT Introduction: The hepatic-jejunostomy is a technique that may be indicated in multiple pathologies of the hepatobiliary sphere, whose realization by laparoscopy is a technical challenge. Objective: To describe a model of laparoscopic hepatic-jejunal anastomosis training using ex vivo biological tissues. Material and methods: A model of box trainer training using bovine renal artery and small intestine is described. The technique consists of performing an anastomosis with double continuous 5-0 silk suture. Results: A survey conducted to a group of surgeons with different levels of experience demonstrated the face validity of the proposed model. Discussion: The simulated training allows to improve the skills in laparoscopic surgery, being of great importance in the domain of advanced techniques such as hepatic-jejunal anastomosis. This becomes even more important in low volume surgery centers like ours. Conclusions: The model described is easily applicable and attractive because of its low cost and simplicity.
