{"title":"Influence of cladding tube structure on transmission characteristics of negative curvature terahertz fiber","authors":"Dexian Yan, Ziwei Yuan, Jianzhong Qiu, Xiangjun Li","doi":"10.1088/1555-6611/ad3ae7","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1088/1555-6611/ad3ae7","url":null,"abstract":"A novel type of polarization negative curvature terahertz fiber has been designed, which has a cladding region composed of two long semi-circular cladding tubes in the horizontal direction and four long semi-elliptical cladding tubes in the oblique direction. The optimal fiber dimensions are determined to investigate the internal relationship between polarization characteristics and fiber cladding structure. The transmission performances of the negative curvature fiber are investigated by varying the thickness of fiber cladding tubes and adjusting the structural characteristics of cladding tubes in different directions. Relatively good transmission performances can be obtained with a cladding tube thickness of 80 <italic toggle=\"yes\">μ</italic>m. The birefringence can be stably maintained at the order of 10<sup>−4</sup>, and the confinement loss of the <italic toggle=\"yes\">x</italic>-polarized mode at 2.55 THz is 0.036 dB cm<sup>−1</sup>. Moreover, the dispersion coefficient of the two polarized modes is stable between ±0.6 ps (THz·cm)<sup>−1</sup> in the 2.3–2.6 THz band. The bent performance of the designed fiber at 2.52 THz is also discussed. The results show that the fiber has low bending sensitivity, and can still maintain excellent birefringence and low confinement loss in the bending state. For the <italic toggle=\"yes\">y</italic> polarization, the birefringence can be basically stabilized at the order of 10<sup>−4</sup> within a bending radius of 10–60 cm.","PeriodicalId":17976,"journal":{"name":"Laser Physics","volume":"6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2024-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140611557","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the position-dependent atom–field interaction, the information about the high diffraction order of the probe light can be obtained via the Fraunhofer diffraction pattern of the probe light. It is found that the diffraction behavior is significantly improved due to the joint quantum interference induced by the SW and microwave-driven cycling fields. Most importantly, the amplitude and phase diagram of the transmission function of the probe light can be modulated at a particular position and the probe energy may transfer to the high orders of the diffraction by properly adjusting the system parameters. The proposed scheme may provide a promising way to achieve highly sensitive diffraction patterns with applications in quantum information processing.","PeriodicalId":17976,"journal":{"name":"Laser Physics","volume":"23 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2024-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140611828","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The carbon-doped silver nanoparticles were synthesized using a laser ablation method. The prepared nanoparticles were inserted between fiber ferrules using the adhesion process of the index-matched gel. Incorporating a saturable absorber inside the laser cavity initiates a stable Q-switched mechanism at 11.2 mW of threshold power. The measured results demonstrate that as the pump power of EDFL increases from 11.2 to 267 mW, the pulse repetition, and pulse width tuned from 21.33 to 95.2 kHz and 13.3–3.18 <italic toggle=\"yes\">µ</italic>s, respectively. At 267 mW of pump, the maximum average output power, pulse energy, and peak power were further measured to be 2.36 mW, 24.68 nJ, and 7.76 mW, respectively. Besides, the stability and threshold characteristics of EDFL based on carbon-doped silver nanoparticles were further explored. This study shows that the synthesis of metal nanoparticles using the laser ablation technique and their implementation as saturable absorber represents a promising avenue for advancing ultrafast laser technologies with improved stablility, efficiency, and tunability.","PeriodicalId":17976,"journal":{"name":"Laser Physics","volume":"61 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2024-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140611558","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With a fixed cavity length of 50 mm and the input mirrors in the resonator with radii of curvature of 100 mm, 200 mm, and 500 mm, the mode-locked pulses with pulse periods 4 times, 6 times and 10 times the fundamental mode-locked pulse period are observed respectively. Besides, by tilting the angle of the output mirror to control the spatial distribution of transverse modes, the switching between the period-multiplication state and its harmonic self-locking state can be achieved. Numerical simulations further confirm that this period-multiplying phenomenon results from the simultaneous locking of multi-longitudinal and multi-transverse modes. This study is of great significance for understanding the complex transverse dynamics in the self-mode-locking lasers.","PeriodicalId":17976,"journal":{"name":"Laser Physics","volume":"10 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2024-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140602856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here, we report various soliton pulsations and explosions in an all-normal dispersion ytterbium-doped fiber laser by utilizing the dispersive Fourier transform technique. By the different soliton dynamics, these phenomena can be classified into single-soliton pulsation and explosion, dual-soliton synchronous and asynchronous pulsation, as well as dual-soliton asynchronous explosion. Solitons exhibit identical periodic fluctuations in the synchronous pulsation while showing the anti-phase behavior in asynchronous pulsation. The dual-soliton asynchronous pulsation might be related to the periodic modulation of the polarization state of solitons. As for the dual-soliton asynchronous explosion, it can be regarded as the asynchronously triggered transient solitons containing periodic explosion through the gain-mediated soliton interactions. These findings may provide new insights into complex dynamics in the field of ultrafast lasers.","PeriodicalId":17976,"journal":{"name":"Laser Physics","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2024-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140589238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When the system’s parameters satisfy certain conditions, a higher-order exceptional point (EP) is shown in the eigenfrequency spectrum. Some particles with a tiny mass deposited in the mechanical resonator can give rise to the mechanical frequency shift so that the higher-order EP splits into three points, which correspond to three eigenfrequency shifts. We can obtain the adsorbed mass by measuring one of the eigenfrequency shifts. By introducing a sensitivity enhancement factor, we demonstrate that an optomechanical system with a higher decay rate can be used to implement a mass sensor with higher sensitivity. Our scheme provides important theoretical guidance for further optimization and improvement of optomechanical mass sensors.","PeriodicalId":17976,"journal":{"name":"Laser Physics","volume":"33 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2024-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140589365","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The effect of different laser parameters on the spectrum and power angular distribution has been analyzed. The maximum transverse amplitude of the electron motion track changes as one moves farther away from the focal point acting as the electronic initial position. Concurrently, an extensive examination of the off-axis properties of the electron is carried out. As the form of scattering changes from linear to nonlinear, the angular radiation of its power distribution exhibits intriguing characteristics. We found the ‘hysteresis’ phenomenon of the radiation characteristics. Our research can serve as a useful resource for comprehending and using laser electron interactions.","PeriodicalId":17976,"journal":{"name":"Laser Physics","volume":"2010 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2024-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140315059","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our exploration encompasses a thorough analysis of the lateral shifts in both reflected and transmitted light beams, with a focus on the impact of critical factors, i.e, coupling field strength, incoherent pumping field strength, and squeezed vacuum intensity. Our results reveal an interplay of these parameters, resulting in distinctive negative and positive GH shifts in both reflected and transmitted light. In addition, a remarkable enhancement of GH shifts at specific angles of incidence is observed, presenting a wide-ranging modulation across diverse system parameters. This study not only enriches the understanding of the GH shift in complex atomic systems but also highlights the potential for the manipulation of these lateral shifts by fine-tuning key variables of the system, and contributes valuable insights to the broader field of optical phenomena in quantum systems.","PeriodicalId":17976,"journal":{"name":"Laser Physics","volume":"117 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2024-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140315157","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Low-power lasers are widely used to treat clinical conditions based on the photobiomodulation effect. Despite therapeutic applications, mainly in continuous waves, limited data are available on photobiomodulation effects induced by low-power lasers in the pulsed emission mode. The results suggest that exposure to a low-power infrared laser in pulsed emission mode does not alter the proliferation of <italic toggle=\"yes\">E. coli</italic> C600 and the electrophoretic profile of bacterial plasmids but decreases survival and increases ROS levels in <italic toggle=\"yes\">E. coli</italic> C600 cultures.","PeriodicalId":17976,"journal":{"name":"Laser Physics","volume":"159 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2024-03-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140315158","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
