The authors describe this old and satisfactory technique, slightly modified: a transmetacarpal pin is introduced and suspended to a giving set stand, and a counter-traction of 3 to 4 kg is exerted by means of a transulnar pin. After remodelling of the bone under general anaesthesia and radiographic control, the pins are sunk in plaster to be removed 6 to 8 weeks later. It exceptionally becomes malignant but evolves to a stage of pseudo-lymphoma. A significant correlation was established between LZM and immunoglobulins, but no correlation was found between immunoglobulins and beta 2-microglobulin, nor between the latter and LZM. These parameters were altered earlier than motor and sensory nerve conduction, which considerably increased the incidence of subclinical peripheral neuropathy (90% of the patients). It was also found that sensory fibers were affected earlier than motor fibers.
