It is shown that the directivity is characterized by the transmission windows of the electromagnetic crystals in the frequency and angular spectral domains and the transverse resonance condition in the space surrounded by the electromagnetic crystals. A directivity diagram that relates the transmission and reflection spectra of electromagnetic crystals and the size of the resonator to the radiation patterns attainable by a line source is presented. Several numerical examples validate the usefulness of the diagram for designing unique electromagnetic crystal antennas.","PeriodicalId":178792,"journal":{"name":"2008 13th International Seminar/Workshop on Direct and Inverse Problems of Electromagnetic and Acoustic Wave Theory","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129013080","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On first stage, the new, correct solution of Hallenpsilas integral equation is given relative to the axial current of the dipole. It is shown that this solution besides sinusoidal (classic) term, considered by the action of e.m.f. applied to the center of the dipole, contains new terms as well, created by interference of the fields radiated by the different arms of the dipole. The so-called compatibility function is introduced, being the modulus of the integral field in far zone. The analysis of this function makes possible satisfactorily characterize the EMC of the dipole. The great number of numerous results is presented, proving the effectiveness of the method of estimation and improvement of the EMC of the antenna.","PeriodicalId":178792,"journal":{"name":"2008 13th International Seminar/Workshop on Direct and Inverse Problems of Electromagnetic and Acoustic Wave Theory","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114184217","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The body position is fixed with respect to the wave. The surface impedance of the body can be matched with the wave field structure in such a way that the scattered field is small in the direction opposite to that of the incoming wave as well as in the close directions. The matching means that the impedance at each point of the illuminated surface provides the same relation of tangential components of the electric and magnetic fields as in the incident wave. If the incident wave is the plane one, then the matching impedance is real.","PeriodicalId":178792,"journal":{"name":"2008 13th International Seminar/Workshop on Direct and Inverse Problems of Electromagnetic and Acoustic Wave Theory","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115914030","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
