In the production process, there are still various indications of waste that cause a decrease in the efficiency and effectiveness of the production process. One of the biggest problems is defects, with a percentage of defects above 5%. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the process of the crankcase to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of production. This study aims to eliminate waste in the production line of the crankcase by implementing the lean manufacturing concept. The lean manufacturing method used is the Waste Assessment Model (WAM) to distinguish waste in the manufacturing process. The integrated cost value stream introduces cost lines that can help facilitate decision-making. Based on the results of waste identification, the 3 largest wastes were found, namely defects, inventory, and transportation. There are 2 alternative improvements to overcome this waste, namely by changing the jig tool and changing the push-to-pull method. The results show that defect waste decreased to an average of 4.8%, the total value added cost decreased by 1%, total non-value added cost decreased by 55%.","PeriodicalId":178760,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2022 International Conference on Engineering and Information Technology for Sustainable Industry","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128292176","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This emulsion is stabilized by oleophilic nanoparticles without the need of surfactants. However, finding an oil with cheap and easily available to create an emulsion is not easy. This paper introduces the trial blend of W/O emulsions with a very common material, namely used engine lubricant oil. More than one billion liters of engine lubricant oil are used in Indonesia every year and has become a major contributor to pollution due to improper use at its disposal. In other ways, this used engine lubricant oil can be an excellent candidate for making emulsions W/O. First, the detergents, the acidity and soot (organic carbon) from the decomposition of engine oil lubricants provides perfect solid particles to stabilize the emulsion; secondly, the medium viscosity allows optimal viscosity to be achieved when blending the emulsion; and the third, nanoparticles from oxidized wear metal from engine debris can help also to reduce the IFT of heavy oil.","PeriodicalId":178760,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2022 International Conference on Engineering and Information Technology for Sustainable Industry","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115814743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nickel matte is an important raw material in producing the producing electric cars. The precision and speed with which the kind of laterite nickel ore is determined based on the olivine concentration are critical because it affects energy requirements and nickel recovery. The present challenge is that it takes a long time to obtain the Loss on Ignition (LoI) number, which will be used to calculate the olivine concentration. As a result, an alternate approach for determining the type of ore without going through the phases of assessing the LoI value is required. The k-means clustering method examined data from one of the blocks in the PT Vale Indonesia Tbk mining region. The K-Means method is used to cluster data from 9 chemical elements. The olivine group that will be produced as a result of this analysis is characterized by three scenarios: the first one is the olivine group using two clusters according to the present split of olivine groups, namely high olivine and low olivine. The second scenario employs three clusters: high olivine, medium olivine, and low olivine. The third scenario uses four clusters based on the elbow method and silhouette guidelines. According to the findings, the best number of clusters was two clusters. The level of accuracy for 2 clusters, when compared with the conventional method, achieved 97.9% for cluster 1 and 85.0% for cluster 2.","PeriodicalId":178760,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2022 International Conference on Engineering and Information Technology for Sustainable Industry","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122431869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
