The antenna, which comprises a thin, etched metal layer, can be patched to the notebook computer hinge. The bended radiator has a small antenna volume and uses the notebook hinge as its support. Two operation bands are available. The lower band covers 698 to 860 MHz and the higher band extends from 1710 to 2690 MHz. Several band broadening and antenna miniaturizing techniques were employed, including the use of parasitic elements, meandered structures, branched structures and a lump element. Simulations and measurements were conducted to verify that the antenna, which is surrounded by metal sheets emulating notebook display and keyboard panels, can function properly. Desirable performance features such as reasonable radiation efficiency, good impedance matching, and omni-directional coverage were observed.","PeriodicalId":178493,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Antennas and Propagation","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126439057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The pair of antennas, which consist of small conductive segments, provides the two-port circuit of which ports are feeding points of the antennas. The two-port parameters of this circuit, which are obtained using the method of moments, and the complex impedance of both the power generating and loading circuits enable calculation of the power transmission efficiency. Repetition of the random generation of the segments and numerical calculation of the efficiency provides the antenna design. The numerical results of an example antenna system indicate that the efficiency strongly depends on the value of the real part of the impedance; therefore, precise control of this value is required to maintain better power transmission efficiency.","PeriodicalId":178493,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Antennas and Propagation","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125304499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is known that light transmitted inside the subwavelength hole cavity peaks at certain wavelengths, which correspond to the excitation of the SP modes. This transmission is boosted as the SP modes in both sides of the metal are matched. In this paper, we show that hybridization of plasmonic metal hole-arrays with semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes leads to enhanced transmission.","PeriodicalId":178493,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Antennas and Propagation","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131918173","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this link, a chip antenna is adopted for RF power transmitting, and a resonant network consisting of a compact inductor and a chip capacitor is employed for energy harvesting. A prototype is fabricated and measured in the time- and frequency-domain. The measured results show that this power transfer link meets the system requirement. In addition, in the case of a capacitor with 20% variation, this link can still achieve the system required efficiency. It therefore eliminates the adaptive matching circuit and simplifies the system design.","PeriodicalId":178493,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Antennas and Propagation","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134426980","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
