Perubahan genetik yang umum terjadi berupa single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) seperti pada gen kelompok aquaporin (AQPs) yang berperan penting untuk menjaga kelembapan dan elastisitas epidermis kulit. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh mutasi pada salah satu kelompok protein AQPs yaitu aquaporin 3 (AQP3) secara in silico. Materi penelitian berupa data sequence dan struktur 3D AQP3 wild-type dan AQP3 mutant yang diunduh dari protein data bank (pdb id 1FX8 dan 1LDF). Kedua sequence ini disejajarkan dengan metode “ClustalW” untuk mengamati posisi mutasi, sedangkan struktur 3D keduanya juga disejajarkan menggunakan metode “Aligment” untuk mengamati perubahan daerah “site binding” native ligand. Dampak perubahan konformasi AQP3 mutant juga diamati terhadap beberapa senyawa sebagai ligand uji yang diketahui bekerja mendukung fungsi protein AQP3 seperti asiatic acid, madecassic acid, asiaticoside, dan alpha-retinoic acid melalui metode docking molekuler. Hasil pensejajaran sequence menunjukkan mutasi terjadi pada urutan residu ke-48 (tryptophan-phenil alanin) dan ke-200 (phenil alanin-threonine). Mutasi kedua residu menyebabkan terjadinya perubahan model interaksi semua ligand uji dibanding AQP3 tipe normal. Mutasi juga menyebabkan penurunan stabilitas AQP3. It is known that ketip banana pseudostem extract can trigger cell proliferation and contain phytoestrogen compound. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of ketip banana pseudostem extract on length of estrus cycle, histology structure and wight of reproductive organ, and estrogen hormone levels in white rats of PCOS model. White rats female Wistar strain aged 54 days used a total of 25 animals in this study. The treatment was given for 21 days by 1 ml/tail/day with the gavage method. Vaginal smear was began on 5th day of treatment every 12 hours/day for three estrus cycles (15 days). At the end of the study (21th day), the rats were dissected to take their ovaries and blood. The ovaries were weighed and then histological preparation with paraffin method and hematoxylin-Eosin staining. The parameters observed were length of estrus cycle, weight of ovary, number of ovary follicles, as well as estrogen hormone levels. Kamir ini bersifat oportunis, karena C. albicans dapat menunjukkan karakateristik patogenitasnya atau berubah menjadi pathogen bila terjadi perubahan-perubahan kondisi lingkungan di tempat-tempat dimana species kamir ini berasosiasi dengan mikrob lain pada inangnya. Perubahan-perubahan kondisi lingkungan ini umumnya menyebabkan terjadinya perubahan komposisi mikrobiota pada bagian-bagian tersebut, dan perubahan ini dapat bersifat lokal atau sistemik pada inangnya. Dalam kondisi normal, pertumbuhan C. albicans dikendalikan/dikontrol oleh kehadiran mikrob lain dengan komposisi seimbang yang ada disekitarnya. Bila terjadi ketidakseimbangan mikrobiota normal pada tempat-tempat tersebut, maka kondisi ini akan dimanfaatkan oleh C. albicans untuk tumbuh dan berkembang melampaui mikroba lain. Pertumbuhan berlebih C. albicans ini sering menimbulkan masalah atau menyebabkan infeksi/lesi. Pada inangnya, kamir ini sering berasosiasi pada mukosa rongga mulut, permukaan kulit, saluran pencernaan, serta alat reproduksi wanita (vagina), dan menyebabkan infeksi yang disebut dengan kandidiasis. Kasus kandidiasis terus mengalami peningkatan dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, yang disebabkan oleh munculnya kasus resistansi Candida spp., terhadap antifungi yang dipakai dalam pengobatan kandidiasis. Pemahaman menyeluruh terkait kandidiasis menjadi sangat penting dan diperlukan untuk membangun strategi potensial dalam penanggulangan kandidiasis. Oleh karena itu, dalam telaah pustaka ini dielaborasi berbagai topik penting terkait kandidiasis dan alternatif penanganannya. Semua informasi yang diperlukan diekstrak dari berbagai artikel terkait yang dipublikasikan di jurnal-junal ilmiah bereputasi. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Reproduksi Ternak, Fakultas Peternakan, Universitas Brawijaya Malang. Materi penelitian adalah semen kambing boer berusia 3 hingga 4 tahun yang ditampung sebanyak dua kali seminggu menggunakan metode vagina buatan. Metode penelitian adalah eksperimen laboratorium menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) dengan empat perlakuan sebagai kelompok dan setiap kelompok terdapat 10 ulangan. Perlakuan penelitian adalah P0 (CEP-3 90% + kuning telur 10% + Putih telur 0,4 %), P1 (Air Kelapa Muda Hijau 80% + Kuning Telur 15% + Sari Kedelai 5%), P2 (Air Kelapa Muda Hijau 80% + Kuning Telur 10% + Sari Kedelai 10%), dan P3 (Air Kelapa Muda Hijau 80% + Kuning Telur 5% + Sari Kedelai 15%). Hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan menggunakan sidik ragam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persentase motilitas individu spermatozoa dan viabilitas spermatozoa sampai hari ke-3 penyimpanan antara perlakuan P0 dan P2 tidak memberikan perbedaan yang nyata (P>0,05) tetapi pada P1 dan P3 memberikan perbedaan pengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01). Persentase abnormalitas pada semua perlakuan tidak terdapat perbedaan nyata (P>0,05) pada hari ke-1 sampai ke-3. Pada P0 dapat mempertahankan kualitas semen cair hingga hari ke-3 dengan nilai motilitas individu 43,00 ± 2,88%, sedangkan P2 dapat menjaga kualitas semen cair hingga hari ke-3 dengan nilai motilitas individu 43,00 ± 1,04%. Simpulannya pengencer air kelapa muda dengan penambahan kuning telur 10% dan sari kedelai 10% dapat menggantikan pengencer Cauda. Sebanyak 40 ekor ayam broiler masing-masing 20 jantan dan 20 betina digunakan dalam penelitian kali ini selanjutnya dibagi menjadi lima kelompok (P1, P2, P3, P4, P5). Semua kelompok perlakuan dipelihara secara intensif, diberi pakan, minum ad libitum dan vaksin terjadwal selama 35 hari. Data dianalisis dengan univariate ANOVA dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Post Hoc Tukey dengan nilai signifikansi 95%. Konsumsi dan konversi pakan menunjukkan perbedaan nyata pada kelompok P1 dan P4 dibandingkan kelompok P2, P3 dan P5. Pertambahan bobot badan juga tampak signifikan pada kelompok P1 dan P4 hari ke 5–6 atau hari ke 25–30 dan hari ke 1–35. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa perbandingan jumlah pengaturan broiler jantan dan betina dalam satu kandang berpengaruh terhadap performa ayam broiler. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeteksi apakah tanaman herbal biji pare (Momordica charantia L.), temu putih (Curcuma zedoaria Rosce), buah mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia), biji alpukat (Persea americana mill), buah pinang (Areca catechu) dapat digunakan sebagai obat cacing nematoda yang efektif dan efisien. Tanaman herbal diekstrak dan diuji secara fitokimia di Balai Penelitian Rempah dan Obat (Balittro). Penelitian ini dirancang dengan tujuan mengevaluasi fotoperiode yang dikombinasikan dengan suplementasi tepung daun kelor pada bobot karkas dan bobot organ viscera itik Pekin. Penelitian menggunakan 40 ekor itik Pekin dalam rancangan acak lengkap dengan pola faktorial 2×4. Faktor pertama berupa foto periode, terdiri atas 2 level, yaitu 20L:4D (20 jam terang : 4 jam gelap) dan 24L:0D. Faktor kedua berupa dosis tepung daun kelor, terdiri atas 4 level, yaitu 0, 2, 4, dan 6%. Data dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA dua arah. Masing-masing faktor utama ataupun intaraksi antarfaktor utama berpengaruh tidak signifikan (P>0,05) pada bobot potong, bobot karkas, dan potongan komersial karkas. Bobot lemak abdominal lebih rendah 44,70% pada suplementasi tepung daun kelor 4%. Foto periode maupun suplementasi tepung daun kelor berpengaruh signifikan (P<0,05) pada panjang intestinum. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan fotoperiode, suplementasi tepung daun kelor, maupun kombinasi fotoperiode dengan suplementasi tepung daun kelor pada pakan tidak memberikan dampak negatif pada karakteristik karkas dan organ viscera itik Pekin. The increasing demand for carp can be used as an opportunity to increase the production and income of farmers and fulfill the target of increasing the nutrition of the residents. The heat shock method is one method that is often used because the process is simpler than the others. Polyploidy analysis was carried out by counting the number of nucleoli in fish resulting from polyploidization. The results of the ploidization analysis of carp in this study showed that there were variations in the number (frequency) of nucleoli per cell in diploid, triploid, and tetraploid fish. The body size of tetraploid fish is larger than that of triploid fish. But triploid fish have a larger body size than diploid fish. Tetraploid goldfish have a larger size and nucleus and cell contents when compared to triploids, even more so with diploids. The more the number of cells causes the volume of cells in the body to increase, so that the body size or growth of the tetraploid carp is higher. The placenta and fetus connect in the development process. This study aimed to analyze the effect of giving ethanol extract of sappanwood on white rats’ placenta and fetal organs, which were examined histologically at 20 days pregnant rats. The pregnant rats were divided into six groups: The negative group was given aquadest, and treatment groups were given an ethanolic Sappan wood extract 100;200;300;400;500 mg/kg BW. Euthanized with CO2 and cesarian section was performed on pregnant rats on the 20th gestational day. Observation to record fetal body weight, body length, mean placental weight, and the histology of the placental area. Histomorphometry was used to measure the area of the fetal placental region. The group with sappan wood extract had no statistically significant difference in fetal body weight, fetal body length, fetal tail length, the weight placenta, and histomorphometry of the placenta compared to the control group (p > 0.05); this showed that the ethanolic extract of sappan wood does not have a toxic effect on the development of the placenta, which can interfere with fetal development during pregnancy. People start using e-cigarettes with the assumption that e-cigarettes are safer, but the safety of e-cigarettes is still in doubt. Harmful substances from cigarettes can trigger an increase in free radicals and induce inflammatory process. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the increase of serum Interleukin-1? due to exposure to conventional cigarette smoke and e-cigarette vapor based on exposure time. This study was conducted experimentally on 30 male white rats Sprague Dawley strain. The rats were divided into five treatment groups (control group, two and four weeks of exposure to conventional cigarette smoke, and two and four weeks of exposure to electronic cigarette vapor). Smoking session was given once a day. The rats were sacrificed then necropsied and Interleukin-? levels were calculated using the enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) Kit. The data obtained were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) statistical test. Exposure to conventional cigarette smoke and e-cigarette vapor did not give any significant changes to Interleukin-1? level in rats, both at two weeks and four weeks of exposure. However, there was a tendency of increased Interleukin-1? levels with increasing time.
