High power amplifiers are used primarily to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in the transmission as well as to boost the signal to a sufficient power level for transmission to supply the receiver with a sufficiently high level of signal power. The most popular HPA's include Travelling Wave Tube amplifier (TWTA), Klystron Power Amplifiers, Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPA), etc. Distortion is the creation of unwanted signals at frequencies the original signal does not contain. Hence, distortion is produced by a loss of linearity. The transmission of signals has been upgraded to higher levels over the years requiring the extensive use of more sophisticated modulation techniques such as Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) and other algorithms to handle the huge data demands of our modern society. In microwave satellite transmission, a High Power Amplifier (HPA) known as Travelling Wave Tube Amplifier (TWTA) is usually used to drive the carrier signal to the receiver. The problem of non-linearity arises when the HPA is operated close to its maximum power resulting in distortion of the carrier signal, thus reduction in efficiency. This paper presents the design of linearization of HPA using memory resistance predistorter to linearize the output of HPA. The output signal suffers from non-linearity distortions so memristor has been proposed a predistorter for HPA output linearization. The parameter used in modelling the input signal is 1 V, 3 GHz RF 64 QAM signal, initial memory resistance of 30 $Omega,$ Dopant drift mobility constant of 104, and the difference between boundary resistances is $7.5 pi MOmega$. A fuzzy analytic network process (FANP) was adopted for the purpose of the research, to first identify the most important core banking solution selection criteria and to highlight key selection variables by rank. The key selection variables considered for this paper were Cost, Promotion, Interoperability, Security and Maintenance as selection criteria which influences banks when opting for a core banking solution. The results presented in the study allude to Cost, Security, and Interoperability as being the top 3 selection criteria for banking institutions when choosing core banking solution platforms. It was concluded that most SMEs do not integrate information technology into their businesses due to a lack of qualified and expert staff who are able to handle the information technology tools in their businesses. The importance of this study derives from the fact that CFLs have been globally adopted and used as an effort towards energy efficiency. The ubiquitous presence of CFLs in every home, calls for the investigation of their integrity with regard to EMC. The approach adopted in this paper was purely experimental. Tests were conducted in the Polytechnic Metrology Center (PMC) of Egypt, an internationally renowned laboratory for conducting EMC test. The tests were done in accordance with the specifications of relevant IEC and CISPR standards. Findings revealed that the tested CFLs passed most of the test including harmonic current emission, radiated electromagnetic disturbances, radiated emission electric field, voltage changes, fluctuation and flicker, voltage dips and short interruption, immunity to electromagnetic RF field 80 MHz-1 GHz and surge immunity. However, the conducted emission test within the range of 9 KHz - 30 MHz failed according to the CISPR 15 standard. The temperature dependence of resistivity for four samples of hornblende garnet gneiss has been measured, in the temperature range from 300 K to about 500 K for both increasing and decreasing temperatures, to elucidate the nature of electric current been carried in the rocks. The first sample was not given any treatment. The second sample was baked to 1000 K for 30 minutes to drive out all pore fluids and allowed to cool to 300 K in a dry environment. The third sample was dried for 14 days with silica gel. Lastly, the fourth sample was soaked in CaSO4(Calcium Sulphate) solution for 21 days. Temperature hysteresis in each case was observed in the resistivity measurements. Except the sample, which showed semiconductor - semi-metallic transition in resistivity at certain temperatures. All the samples showed increasing resistivity with increasing temperature to certain peaks, beyond which the resistivity decreased exponentially with temperature. The energy gaps for all samples ranged between 1.20 eV and 1.1eV. The accuracy of the resistance measurements was + 0. 1%. The semiconductor - semi-metallic transition in the baked sample vanished when left in the air to absorb moisture. The results obtained fully satisfies the aim of the experiment. As the study showed, by using a simple data recovery software, remnant data can be retrieved from some disposed computer hard drives even after they have been formatted. If hard drives are not properly cleansed of data before they are discarded, individuals and organizations run the risk of having their information recovered and exploited by people with criminal intent. The study examined discarded computer hard drives obtained from some electronic waste dumpsites and other second hand computer dealers in Ghana, in an attempt to recover remnant information from them using a data recovery software. Out of 50 hard drives examined, 39 of them representing 78% contained identifiable individual information present in them. This has rapidly increased the demand for mobile broadband traffic and driven the need for even more capacity from these systems. The key to solving this problem lies in increasing the network capacity. Increasing the capacity of networks creates new bandwidth delivery challenges for network operators. Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technology is a viable alternative used by wireless broadband services in order to meet the striving requirements for throughput and system robustness in a network. Long Term Evolution (LTE) Networks incorporate this technology in their networks, which allows it to achieve higher system throughput, cell coverage, as well as downlink peak rate. In this research, LTE network using the various MIMO configurations was studied using empirical formulas and computer simulations. Surfline, Ghana an LTE provider was used as case study. Results from the research showed that User Equipment speed and target modulation schemes have significant effect on the performance of MIMO. The choice of bandwidth, however, has little effect. Further, throughput increases with the number of transmitters and receiver antennas. Today Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has been the most implemented multicarrier scheme in recent networks such as Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G, Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB), Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) and many others. [1]However, with new communication technologies coming up such as 5G, Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine to Machine (M2M), requiring higher bandwidth, greater capacity, security and lower latency. The huge number of users and devices means higher demand for data and network resources; therefore, there is the need for new multicarrier schemes that would be able to meet the requirements of these new technologies, as OFDM is not efficient in circumstances like cognitive radio systems and unsynchronized signals in uplink direction due to its high spectral leakage and bandwidth inefficiency. Filter Bank-based Multicarrier (FBMC) is one of the best contenders that addresses the shortcomings of OFDM and is favourable for the new emerging networks. This study provides a comparative evaluation of OFDM with Cyclic Prefix (CP) and FBMC with Offset Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (OQAM) processing [1]. The two techniques were compared using analytical expressions and simulations over MATLAB. Parameters such as power spectral density, subcarriers waveforms, prototype filters, computational complexity, delay and spectral efficiency were compared. The challenge militating against operators are the frequent fibre cable cut and microwave network outages. The outages on the fibre cable are caused by construction works (road, housing), illegal mining activities on underground fibre cable routes. The microwave networks rely on an unguided over-the-air propagation path which is affected by reflective terrain and structures, rain or bad weather conditions etc. In order to overcome this challenge, this study focused on the design of a microwave-optical fibre hybrid protection switching system (HPSS). The system was tested under three scenarios: first when both the terrestrial microwave line-of-sight link and the terrestrial fibre-optic links are under normal operation; second when only the terrestrial fibre-optic link is active and the terrestrial microwave line-of-sight link is off; and finally when the terrestrial microwave line-of-sight link is active and the terrestrial fibre-optic link is off.
