In particular, high ambient concentrations of particulate matter (PM) have been associated with high occurrence of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. Current air quality monitoring systems provide high quality data but with limited spatial coverage. Low-cost sensors represent a potential tool to increase spatial and temporal measurements coverage by complementing the existing networks. Furthermore, the remote access to real-time data may allow to obtain detailed information relevant for instance, for protecting vulnerable populations health. This paper describes a portable PM monitoring system with remote access via IoT. The proposed system is based on low-cost sensors of the Plantower type with Internet access via WiFi through the ESP32 microcontroller. We describe a methodology to fit the PM sensor with wireless access to store the acquired information in databases located on both local and external servers using an open-source code. Statistical tests conducted for preliminary monitoring data are also described to verify the PM sensors accuracy and performance.","PeriodicalId":177447,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127003027","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The off-line coordination is degraded due to the increase of dynamic conditions by generation and topology changes of the electrical network. In meshed systems, when the same time curve for overcurrent relays is used results in numerous violations of coordination constraints. Instead, when the time curve is determined for each coordination pair nonconventional curves are obtained, this improves coordination times. The Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) and Differential Evolution (DE) algorithms have been adapted to solve the highly complex and nonlinear optimization problem, a comparison is made between both algorithms to analyze their performance. Tests have been carried out on the IEEE systems and show that the proposal is feasible, obtaining the desired results.","PeriodicalId":177447,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121867458","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper an improved versin of imperceptible-visible watermarking is introduced, where the just noticeable distortion (JND) is used in the embedding stage to improve the watermark readability through a novel histogram binarization function in the exhibition stage. The experimental results show that the proposed strategies can improve the performance of several IVW schemes in the context of watermark imperceptibility and readability, which are similar with the most recent IVW schemes reported until now. The benchmarking performance of the proposed strategies is done through of the Peak Signal to Noise Ratio, Structural Similarity Index Measure, and the Bit Error Rate.","PeriodicalId":177447,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128017142","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main advantage of this approach is that it can work with radial and mesh configurations without modifications in its formulation. This method can deal with the hyperbolic relation between voltages and currents at $k$ node, i.e., $mathbb{I}_{k}=frac{mathbb{S}_{k}^{star}}{mathbb{V}_{k}^{star}}$, by transforming this into a linear approximation. To minimize the error in this linear transformation, an iterative procedure is implemented by updating the linearizing point, which allows reaching the same solution of the classical power flow methods for distribution systems in less processing time. Numerical results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed approach when compared to classical Gauss-Seidel, Newton-Raphson, and Backward/forward methods that can work with radial and mesh distribution network structures. All the numerical validations are conducted in MATLAB software.","PeriodicalId":177447,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133764115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, ensuring secure and efficient transmission is a major challenge because intrusive receivers may be present, wireless channels have high bit error rates and limited bandwidth. This paper proposes a wireless transmission scheme for encrypted images to establish reliable and robust communications. The proposed scheme comprises on the transmitter side, encryption, compression, channel coding and modulation, and their inverse processes at the receiver. The Discrete Wavelet Transformed and the Huffman coding are employed for image compression, whereas convolutional coding is used as a technique for error correction. The system is implemented with the USRP NI-2920 modules and LabVIEW Communications 2.0 software, allowing the transmission of encrypted images both in real and simulated environments. The results show that the proposed system is robust and efficient against channel degradation.","PeriodicalId":177447,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134228058","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the blind deconvolution estimation (BDE), this process is implemented without the input signal information. In particular, this work is focused on fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) datasets, where the fluorescence impulse responses are extracted by assuming an exponential library model and a common instrument response (input signal) to all the measurements. Due to the nonlinear interaction of the free variables, an alternated least-squares methodology is adopted, which is based on constrained quadratic optimizations. The new BDE algorithm is validated with synthetic FLIM datasets by comparing the standard deconvolution methodology with an exponential library under different model orders, and types and levels of noise, which shows the applicability and robustness of the proposal.","PeriodicalId":177447,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115157236","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this reason, this research is based on an open source project presented by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology which involves the conditioning of an Artificial Manual Breathing Unit (AMBU bag), that acts as an aid for patients to maintain a constant respiratory cycle. This document presents the calculation of the control matrix for the mechatronic and bio pneumatic systems of the ventilator by implementing a Space-State Model that allows to obtain the control gains that may reduce the error concerning the open loop operation of the ventilator; furthermore, this paper also presents the SIMULINK simulations that demonstrate the efficiency of the calculated control matrixes. Due to these graphic demonstrations, it was observed that the implemented controllers provided an increase in the response time and reduced the error, thus, theoretically, both controllers must provide stability and a higher performance to the ventilator prompting an appropriate assistance to the hospitalized victims of the COVID-19; however, currently, this project is not viable, as it has not been tested in real life and it does not meet the quality and medical requirements for its use in emergencies.","PeriodicalId":177447,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124363622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
