In this way the development of new products or technologies could include eye tracking as an objective way of obtaining feedback from users. This paper presents an experiment that compares the eye behavior of users' blinks during interaction with two different levels of difficulty in a video game. The results of the experiment show that the participants' blink rate per minute was significantly reduced, according to the state-of-the-art normal blink behavior, during the two tasks. However, it is also shown that there is no significant difference between the samples taken, which is attributable to the fact that interaction with video games, in any difficulty, represents high cognitive load.","PeriodicalId":177447,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129356895","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This includes multivariable prediction of meteorological and user consumption data simultaneously in time series. The selection of a predicting model, from long short-term memory (LSTM), convolutional neural networks (CNN), gated recurrent units (GRU), or their hybrid models merging CNN with LSTM and GRU, is a very complex task. In this paper, a mean absolute error, absolute percentage error (MAPE), and root mean square error (RMSE) comparative analysis, for prediction of energy consumption, and solar and onshore wind generation, is presented. A three-day prediction-horizon is used, with four-year hourly training data from Madrid. The combination of the best GRU and CNN models found, subject to the given hyperparameters grid, has a better prediction performance, including if they predict separated. Relevant information about training and coding appreciations is also presented.","PeriodicalId":177447,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114254629","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the problems in delineating cultivation areas is the mixture of spectral signatures due to the transitions between the types of cultivation, built areas, and other natural covers. In order to improve discrimination and identification of crop types, structure data fusion techniques were evaluated. This article aims at showing the potential of using satellite data from the European Space Agency, both optical and SAR, in order to improve land cover classification of agricultural land located in Mexico. To achieve this, an analysis of the spectral, spatial and textural data was performed. Specifically, two classification algorithms were used and compared. The first is based on vector support machines and the second one on Random Forests. The methodology was applied for the study of 4 types of crops in 2017 in the municipality of Villa de Arriaga located in the state of San Luis Potosí. As final results, maps were obtained with the areas with a kappa greater than 0.80.","PeriodicalId":177447,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124996762","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Roundness is a morphological parameter that provide information to characterize and classify sedimentary material. Roundness degrees is estimated from the contour of the particle. Waddell (1932) proposed a remarkable method based on the measurement of parti-cle's curvature. This method is accurate; nevertheless, it is not invariant to scale and rotation. This problem can be solved by mapping the contour to the frequency-domain, however, spectral analysis is a difficult task. Based on these two approaches, we propose to use a deep neural network whose input is the elliptical Fourier spectrum and target is roundness proposed by Wadell. The training database consists of 623 real-rocks images from some geological phenomena. We have found the neural networks perform very well on the 88.8% of rocks.","PeriodicalId":177447,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128312040","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The battery is considered to supply a DC voltage reference to a dedicated load through a buck converter with an LC filter at the input. The converter output voltage is regulated through a conventional controller that ensures stability, sufficient damping and zero steady-state error at constant voltage references. The results of numerical simulations show that the presented scheme is capable of identifying battery parameters such as internal resistance, battery capacity and the time constant of an RC network when referring to an equivalent electric circuit model that considers the battery relaxation effect.","PeriodicalId":177447,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127173480","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to contribute to reduce the effects of the leakage ground current, three-phase power inverters can be designed using dedicated pulse width modulation strategies. Space vector modulation technique is a commonly used continuous method due to its flexibility to implement different vector sequences. In this paper it is proposed a space vector based modulation technique to reduce common mode voltage in a three-phase ANPC inverter. An analysis and comparison regarding conventional space vector modulation techniques are performed. In this paper, an evaluation of the voltage profile of a power system considering different levels of renewable penetration and their reactive power droop control is presented. A series of power flow simulations to obtain the voltage profile and the generation's reactive power were performed using a 6-bus power system considering load-demand and renewable generation hourly curves. Based on current grid code requirements, the overall voltage control of a power system will tend to degrade with increasing penetration of renewables, as reactive power droop control alone is not sufficient to accommodate load-demand behavior due to their intermittence.","PeriodicalId":177447,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131764252","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, consumers will guide their choice based on their color. They will seek cherry red meat; when the meat turns brown due to the myoglobin's oxidation, the product is no longer desired. Therefore, the food industry must have a system that could be effective and give just-in-time information regarding changes in color to maintain the quality during the shelf life that consumers expect. This research aims to present a methodology based on computer vision to analyze the change of color in meat. We used images taken of different beef cuts and tested on different days. The Euclidean distance on the average of colors could be used. However, the method proposed in this study is the use of Kullback Leibler divergence, which takes the meat not only at one color point but as a cloud of points. The results were obtained with the Kullback Leibler divergence demonstrated that it is possible to calculate differences in meat images when passing the days. The practical application for this type of analysis would be in the retail industry in order to give just in time information about the quality of meat.","PeriodicalId":177447,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132350686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
