Каракуль, считаются наиболее уязвимой частью криосферы, непосредственно реагирующей на изменения климатических условий. Следует отметить, что только в 1953 г. были осуществлены аэрофотосъёмки и выполнены единичные полевые изыскания по изучению оледенения бассейна оз. Каракуль. Следовательно, исследование ледников данного бассейна имеет большое научное значение в том числе в области гляциологии и климатологии. Целью данной статьи является расчёт поверхностного баланса массы (SMB) ледника № 139 в бассейне оз. Каракуль, позволяющий на основе полученных результатов оценить степень влияния изменения климата на оледенение данной территории, а также перспективу изменения состояния ледников в будущем. В период с 2018 по 2019 г. баланс массы ледника № 139 бассейна оз. Каракуль составил -0.26 м в.э. Ледник № 139 находится на юго-западной части бассейна оз. Каракуль. На основе данных, полученных c метеостанции Каракуль, установлено, что климат в бассейне оз. Каракуль сурово-холодный, c малоснежной зимой и мягким летом. Основная масса осадков приходится на теплый период. In recent decades, the number and area of lakes have been growing at an accelerated rate due to the shrinking of glaciers in the target basin home to over 600 such reservoirs. The elaboration of recommendations for the installation of early warning equipment to inform population about high-mountain lake outbursts is critical for the sustainable development of the Central Asian Region. The study aimed to investigate the surface area dynamics of 2 (two) mountain lakes in the Gunt River Basin during 2000-2019. Using remote sensing data, summary data were collected on their water supply, location and surface area. The paper presents the findings obtained based on Landsat 7-8 imagery (August and September 2000-2019). The harvested data showed that 2006 witnessed the maximum increase in the area of Lake Nimatskul, whereas the same was observed for Lake Rivakkul in 2010. During the study period (from 2000 to 2019), Lake Nimatskul demonstrated a gradual surface area decrease from 0.513 to 0.462 km2, while Lake Rivakkul remained more stable. The study focused on the following indicators: demographic characteristics of fertility, mortality (total, infant, maternal), natural population growth and life expectancy, population health indicators, disease incidence growth due to adverse ecology and harsh climate in 2005-2019. In addition, a sociological survey was conducted (August 31-September 10) in 15 settlements inside the study area that included 120 people. The survey aimed to collect feedback from the district residents on their general wellbeing and health status. The questionnaires and survey allowed establishing that overall the residents in the study area were satisfied with their level of income, did not associate their health condition with climate change, and did not intend to migrate elsewhere. In other words, in Aral District of Kyzylorda Region population migration occurs mainly due to the desire to obtain secondary and higher education, as well as improve housing conditions. The water supply in the study area showed no significant regression relation with climate change due to the installation of water pumps and delivery of drinking water by tank trucks. The most important finding is that – contrary to the initial hypothesis – based on the survey outcomes, the district demonstrated a stable increase in population due to births and immigration. However, for some basins, including those used as pilot, an adequate quantity of weather stations is crucial for collecting high-accuracy data. This study aimed to 1) estimate the optimum number of meteorological stations and 2) demarcate the most appropriate sites for their installation considering physical and environmental factors directly and indirectly influencing both objectives, i.e. to develop a well-optimized weather station network. The Weighted Overlay method and six (6) environmental factors –- precipitation variance, slope, elevation, proximity of existing stations, land cover and land use, as well as distance from roads –- were applied to delineate the potential locations. All parameters were mapped out separately and then reclassified for scoring (0 to 100 scale) based on their significance. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method was applied to determine the impact of each factor. Based on the analysis, the precipitation variance received 38% weight, while the distance from road was computed to reach only 3% weight. The Weighted Overlay map of the Karasu Watershed was delineated into corresponding highly suitable, moderately suitable, suitable, marginally suitable, and not suitable zones. Finally, the recommended station locations were validated using a hypsometric curve to ensure proper coverage of different elevations. The desk study research built on the recommendations provided by the academia, policy papers and by experts on enhancing adaptive water governance. The juxtaposition of the three sets of recommendations demonstrates that the further strengthening of IWRM, as well as experimental approach to resource management, improved access to climate knowledge and disaster risk reduction mechanisms can consolidate the adaptive capacities of Central Asian water governance systems. The research was limited by the specific set of selected opinions and should be expanded in the future. As a practical outcome, the analysis aimed to provide the decision-makers in Central Asian states with better science-based avenues to planning adaptation measures ensuite the water sector. This paper attempts to assess the process and results of the State-driven transition from the centrally planned cotton sector to private cotton-textile clusters. The article employs secondary data sources to analyse the effects of the deregulation policies descriptively. The study reveals that the deregulation reforms increased productivity in the sector. The reform initiatives also vertically integrated the cotton supply chain from production to marketing. However, the reforms failed to transparently incorporate and harmonise the needs of cotton farmers that grow and sell raw cotton. Consequently, the promises of the State-led deregulation reforms and initiatives are eroded. Главным достоинством кяризов является естественный сбор грунтовых вод, идущих с гор, и транспортировка этой воды к орошаемым полям. Целью данной статьи является внедрение в среду центральноазиатских гидрологов, гидрогеологов и аграриев идеи о возможностях использования технологий и сооружения кяризов в наши дни на примере соседних стран и древнего городища Сауран в Туркестанской области Казахстана. В результате работы по космоснимкам были дешифрированы три кяриза в районе Саурана. На основе цифровой модели рельефа был проведен их геоморфологический анализ в специализированной ГИС «Эко»; рассчитаны значения максимальной площади сбора (МПС) материнского колодца (начало кяриза). В результате выявлено, что сами кяризы расположены в водораздельной области с низкой МПС. Однако материнские колодцы находятся в непосредственной близости от зон с большими значениями МПС. 300 га было достаточно для сбора грунтовых вод, обеспечивавших питание всей ирригационной системы в древности. Современные примеры стран-соседей и археологические объекты на территории Казахстана доказывают возможность применения технологии кяризов в современных условиях. Показатель пылеудерживающей способности выражен в массе пыли, которую может удержать единица площади зеленой массы деревьев. Растительный материал был отобран на трех участках города Ташкент с разными экологическими условиями (освещение, температура, источники пыли) по следующим видам: катальпа красивая – Catalpa bignonioides Walt., платан кленолистный – Platanus acerifolia, сосна эльдарская – Pinus eldarica и можжевельник виргинский – Juniperus virginiana. По итогам исследования наибольшие значения пылеудержания при сравнении с хвойными отмечены у лиственных пород: у платана – 2,4 мг/см2, 1,2 мг/ см2, 13,3 мг/см2 и катальпы – 8 мг/см2, 3,6 мг/см2; у сосны – 0,185 мг/ см2, 0,062 мг/см2, 0,785 мг/см2 и можжевельника – 2,2 мг/см2, 0,4 мг/см2. В результате определена способность удержания пыли из расчета общего выброса пыли в г. Ташкент, который составил в среднем 24,6 ± 6,9 тыс. тонн в период с 2009 по 2018 г. Платан способен удержать на себе около 0,61 %, сосна – 0,16 % от среднегодовой (2009–2018 гг.) массы аэрозолей (на 100 тыс. деревьев). Deficit irrigation is considered an important strategy to achieve this goal. For this purpose, field experiments were conducted at the research farm of the Agriculture Faculty on Kabul University campus for two continuous years (2018-2019). The experiment consisted of four treatments, including full irrigation (ET100), 80% (ET80), 60% (ET60), and 40% (ET40) arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Compared to ET100 and ET80, the ET60 and ET40 treatments significantly (P<0.05) reduced the duration of flowering and pod formation. The bean crop also showed best performance in plant height, number of leaves per plant, leaf area, leaf area index, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, length of pod, 100-seed weight, and total grain yield in the ET100 and ET80 treatments. Moreover, significantly greater values of crop water productivity (CWP) and lower value of Ky were observed in ET80 compared to ET100, ET60 and ET40. Overall, the experiment results showed that regulated deficit irrigation can effectively increase water productivity. Supplying only 80% instead of full water requirement can result in a higher common bean CWP.
