The 9-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-3,3,6,6-tetra-3,4,5,6,7,9-hexahydro-2H-xantene-1 compound, which is addressed as compound 1 in this study, is the derivatives of 1,8-dioxooctahydroxantene. This compound has a carbonyl group and double bond on beta carbon toward the carbonyl group and benzene ring. The presence of this chromophore helps the compound creates intermediate stabilized by resonance from its interaction with free radicals and has the potential to be an antioxidant. Compound 1 was synthesized from pmethoxybenzaldehyde and dimedone through Knoevenagel condensation reaction using an acid as catalyst. The lime and lemon juice was selected as a catalyst to support green chemistry principle. The obtained product includes white powder with a melting point of 222-224C. The IR analysis results, GC-MS, and H-NMR data show that the compound structure of Compound 1. Namun sifat mekanik yang rendah mengharuskan dilakukannya penambahan bahan adiktif seperti polivinil alkohol (PVA) dan dimodifikasi dengan penambahan pulp tandan kosong kelapa sawit (TKKS) maupun dengan asam sitrat teraktivasi (AS). Komposisi optimum bioplastik terplastisasi/ PVA yang didapat yaitu sebanyak 5,5 gram pati singkong, 0,275 gram gliserol, dan 5,5 gram PVA. Pada pembuatannya pati singkong dengan bahan aditif lainnya dicampur pada suhu 75 o C dan dituangkan pada cetakkan, kemudian dikeringan pada suhu ruang. Nilai kuat tarik dan presentase elongasi dilihat sebagai indikasi sifat mekanik. Pada penelitian ini dihasilkan penambahan komposisi 0,055 gram TKKS menghasilkan kuat tarik 14,248 N/mm 2 dan presentase elongasi sebesar 29,596% dibandingkan dengan penambahan AS teraktivasi sebanyak 0,825 gram dengan nilai kuat tarik 14,512 N/mm 2 dan presentase elongasi sebesar 16,932%. Gugus fungsi O–H, C–H, C=O, dan C–O mengindikasikan interaksi komposit bioplastik yang terkonfirmasi menggunakan spektroskopi FTIR . Menurut tes differential scanning colorimetry (DSC) ditunjukkan adanya puncak endotermik yang merupakan kondisi peleburan dari pengaruh interaksi komposisi dalam bioplastik selama proses pemanasan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengekstraksi mikroselulosa dari rumput laut coklat Sargassum sp. yang diambil dipantai daerah Banten. Selulosa dan mikroselulosa diekstraksi melalui dua tahapan yaitu proses alkalinisasi dengan kalium hidroksida (KOH) dan dilanjutkan proses hidrolisis dengan asam sulfat (H 2 SO 4 ). Variable konsentrasi optimal KOH untuk menghasilkan selulosa adalah 0,1%, 0,7% dan 1,3% (b/v), dengan karakterisasi gugus fungsi produk menggunakan Fourier-Transform Infra Red (FTIR ). Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa pola spektrum FTIR selulosa dengan alkalinisasi pada konsentrasi KOH 0,1% dan 0,7%, (b/v) berbeda dengan pola spektrum selulosa dengan konsentrasi KOH 1,3% b/v Optimalisasi proses hidrolisis untuk menghasilkan mikroselulosa dilakukan dalam H 2 SO 4 1 M dengan variabel kecepatan pengadukan 1000 rpm, 1500 rpm, dan 2000 rpm serta variabel waktu proses 30 menit dan 90 menit. Spektrum FTIR mikroselulosa dari semua variabel menunjukkan pola yang sama. Bentuk permukaan selulosa hasil foto Scanning Electron Microscope ( SEM ) dengan pembesaran 100.000 kali terlihat seperti bulatan, sedangkan mikroselulosa berbentuk garis panjang.
