By applying a voltage the transducer is mechanically deformed and acoustic sound waves are generated which then travel through the tissue of the body. In the process many reflections are being created while the waves are bouncing off various tissue interfaces. Since the transducers are bi-directional elements, they also function as the detectors for the returning sound waves. These returning waves are converted by the transducers into electrical signals that are propagated via a cable to the imaging system for all the signal processing [I].","PeriodicalId":177121,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of WESCON'95","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127054693","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Today 40,000 usable gates is a reality and the density will continue to grow in the near future. Unfortunately, the power consumption also grows with the gate density. This coupled with the 3.3V system applications such as PCMCIA calls for the need of an FPGA in 3.3V. This paper describes the design challenges in implementing the 3.3V Optimized Reconfigurable Cell Array (ORCA) FPGAs known as the 2T series.","PeriodicalId":177121,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of WESCON'95","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114098632","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The PolyPlus battery is a thin-film, all-solid-state system in which a lithium foil negative electrode is separated from the positive electrode by a polymeric membrane. Since the technology is based on thin polymeric films, low cost roll-to-roll manufacturing processes, similar to those in the plastics film and laminating industry, can be used. This allows a strong economic advantage versus conventional liquid electrolyte technologies. Moreover, the solid-state system eliminates possibilities of leaks, gas venting, or other hazards inherent in liquid electrolyte systems.","PeriodicalId":177121,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of WESCON'95","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127674151","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is a multi-phase effort to develop the technologies necessary to design, fabricate, and flight test a Mach 5 waverider aircraft. Phase I of the program consisted of a feasibility study. Phase II is the critical design phase to construct a subsonic remotely piloted aircraft that will demonstrate the low speed characteristics of a waverider. During Phase II, a number of innovative technologies will be validated. Included in this phase is the neurocontroller system test for this aircraft. This paper covers how to use fuzzy logic on an advanced microcontroller with integrated DSP hardware for voice command recognition. The integrated analog-to-digital converter on the advanced microcontroller digitizes the voice command, filters it through low pass filter and encodes it into a series of frequency patterns to be recognized using fuzzy logic inference rules. Using a simple normalization method factors out variation in voice command pitch and volume. A set of selflearning and pattern recognition rules applied to the voice spectrum then determines which command matches the voice input pattern.","PeriodicalId":177121,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of WESCON'95","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131181131","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
