However, polymers, a crucial macromolecular sub-material, often lack experimental support in education. This study focuses on selecting polymer materials through practical activities, specifically the creation of bioplastics from uli banana peels (Musa paradisiaca S), to foster the development of Pancasila Student Profile characteristics: collaborative teamwork, critical thinking, and innovation. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the study involves curriculum analysis, practical design, and feasibility assessment. The research revealed that the practical design aligns with the characteristics of high school experiments and produces high-quality bioplastics in terms of absorbency, tensile strength, elongation percentage, and biodegradability. Teacher and student interviews further confirmed the alignment with the Pancasila phase F student profile (class XII), emphasizing cooperation, objective-oriented learning, critical thinking, and innovation. This study establishes a strong connection between curriculum, learning outcomes, and experimental design in uli banana peel starch bioplastics production. Not only does it promote the development of Pancasila student profiles, but it also yields high-quality bioplastics.","PeriodicalId":17697,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Pendidikan Kimia","volume":"254 19","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139011517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The high FFA content in PFAD allows PFAD to be processed into a renewable and economically valuable energy source, namely biodiesel through an esterification process using methanol with the help of an amberlyst catalyst. This study aims to see how the effect of variations in flow rates on the conversion of PFAD to biodiesel which takes place in a continuous reactor and to see the effect of repeated use of catalysts at optimum conditions on the conversion rate. The results showed that the optimum conditions were obtained with a methanol flow rate of 2 ml/minute. The flow rate of methanol above 2 ml/minute actually inhibits the reaction process. The repeated use of the catalyst reduces the availability of active sites and increases the presence of impurities and reduces the thermal stability of the catalyst at high temperatures.","PeriodicalId":17697,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Pendidikan Kimia","volume":"6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87602055","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Antioxidant is a compound that could scavenge free radicals. One of the natural source antioxidants is guava. The application of gibberellic acid (GA3) is known to affect the physicochemical properties and antioxidant content of the fruit. The goals of this research were to investigate the antioxidant activity of skin, flesh and fruit of crystal guava were given additional GA3 treatment with concentration 0; 60; 120; 180; 240; and 300 ppm by determining the value of the Antioxidant Activity Index (AAI) using DPPH; evaluate the total phenolic content (TPC), ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) and physicochemical properties; analyse the correlation between the TPC with AAI DPPH by Pearson’s method. Extraction was performed by the maceration method using acetone 50% mixed with a magnetic stirrer for 1 h. Determination of AAI DPPH, FRAP and the TPC was performed by UV-Visible spectrophotometry. TPC in the flesh and fruit fractions tended to increase and FRAP values in all fractions decreased with GA3 application. The highest TPC and FRAP was given by the G3 treatment on the skin fraction and G0 treatment on the skin fraction. The highest AAI in all fractions was given by the G3 treatment. The TPC was significantly positively correlated with the AAI DPPH of the flesh and fruit fraction extracts (0.250 ≤ r ≤ 0.880), and the skin fraction extracts showed a strong negative correlation between TPC and AAI DPPH (-0.813 < r < -0.973).","PeriodicalId":17697,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Pendidikan Kimia","volume":"149 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91136259","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a product of 21st-century technology, social media can be used as chemistry learning media. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the views of chemistry teachers and pre-service chemistry teachers toward the potential use of social media as chemistry learning media. The Purposed-designed survey method that involved 76 chemistry teachers and 109 pre-service chemistry teachers as respondents was used in this study. A total of 40 question items were developed and distributed online using a Google form to respondents. Based on the results of the survey conducted, it is known that during online and offline chemistry learning, respondents are accustomed to using YouTube as chemistry learning media. In addition, Instagram is the social media most widely owned by pre-service chemistry teachers, while Facebook is the social media most commonly owned by chemistry teachers. Other results reveal that most respondents have the same screen time, more than 4 hours daily. This screen time is used by respondents for entertainment and looking for news information on social media. With this long screen time not used for learning, it can be a promising opportunity to use social media as chemistry learning media. This study is expected to be a reference for developing social media-based chemistry learning to increase student motivation and achievement.","PeriodicalId":17697,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Pendidikan Kimia","volume":"2008 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82577133","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
