By using a basis-dependent Lyapunov function, a delay-dependent result on the H∞ performance of the filtering error system is presented. A sufficient condition for the existence of the filter is provided. It is shown that the filter can be obtained by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Based on the fact that real-time navigation systems could have their performance compromised by the need of processing all this redundant information (all images acquired by a vision system, for example), this work proposes an automatic image discarding method using the Pearson's correlation coefficient (PCC). The proposed algorithm uses the PCC as the criteria to decide if the current image is similar to the reference image and could be ignored or if it contains new information and should be considered in the next step of the process (identification of the navigation area by an image segmentation method). If the PCC indicates that there is a high correlation, the image is discarded without being segmented. Otherwise, the image is segmented and is set as the new reference frame for the subsequent frames. This technique offers considerable flexibility in designing controllers for all relevant variables. The main advantage of this technique is the possibility of selecting various control loops for a particular application problem. This is of paramount importance in control systems and power system engineering especially where all relevant variables may not be directly measured. As an example application, four different robust nonlinear excitation controllers are designed and compared to enhance voltage regulation of a power system. The vision/force control is applied to horizontal/vertical direction for the environment which is thought as a frictionless, elastically compliant plane. We show passivity of the visual force feedback system which allows us to prove stability in the sense of Lyapunov. The L2-gain performance analysis for the disturbance attenuation problem is considered via the dissipative systems theory. Most of the existing identification methods of symmetrical IMs are, strictly speaking, valid only at stationary conditions, which limitation results in either poor dynamics excitation or gross approximation errors, depending on the working conditions of the motor. In this paper, the topic of identification of all electrical parameters of faulty IMs is addressed for the first time. A method for on-line observer-based estimation of all electrical parameters of IMs with faulty stator is presented aiming primarily at fault tolerant control and fault detection. The advent of BBW system offers a more accurate and continuous braking control, hence poses the possibility of introducing an advanced control algorithm for ABS system. The proposed algorithm aims to utilize this technology and the behavior of the model to optimize the wheel slip dynamics subject to system constraints. The final implementation of the controller embraces the decentralized control architecture of BBW system to independently control the brake torque at each four wheels. The identified nonlinear systems are partial-state measurement. Their inner states, parameters and structures are unknown. The design is based on the combination of a sliding mode observer and a neuro identifier. First, a sliding mode observer, which does not need any information of the nonlinear system, is applied to get the full states. Then a dynamic multilayer neural network is used to identify the whole nonlinear system. Optimality is defined via economical criteria related to steady-state operation requirements. Limits on the capacity of the power lines are taken into account via inequality constraints that are added to the optimization problem. Due to these inequality constraints, the resulting control law has a piecewise affine structure. Furthermore, the control action is distributed in the sense that a controller is assigned to each node and each controller communicates only with the controllers associated with the neighboring nodes. We prove that the resulting steady-state solution is optimal.
