Their use in research reports is recommended by the most important international research association in the field of psychology and education, such as the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Educational Research Association (AERA). In this work, through a comparative analysis, after a brief description of the most widely used effect size indexes in educational research, authors provide practical indications about their use, and their interpretation. With this purpose in mind, a comparative analysis among Glass’ Δ, Cohen’s d and Hedeges’ g has been carried out, so that to observe their «behavior» in relation to different conditions of study design and to know which one is better to use in those conditions.","PeriodicalId":175961,"journal":{"name":"ECPS - Educational Cultural and Psychological Studies","volume":"129 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132769467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, incoming orientation program, is fundamental. Therefore, for orientation services, it seems necessary to have effective tools to detect the needs and motivations of potential students enrolled and point out areas in which to invest time and resources. In this work tried to develop an instrument that was able to measure: the motivation to the university course choice, the power and the value of the motivation for the subsequent enrollment in the course but, above all, the level of influence they had in the choice of the various services and the various subjects deployed to the orientation of the students of the last year of high school. 190 freshmen enrolled in the degree course in Education Sciences of the University of Siena were tested with results that seem to confirm the validity of the procedure.","PeriodicalId":175961,"journal":{"name":"ECPS - Educational Cultural and Psychological Studies","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128119624","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The multilevel adaptive tests are briefly introduced and the main steps of the bank construction process are described: the definition of the object of the test, the selection of the items downstream of the pretest operations, assuming that the data are adapted to a IRT model with one parameter, and the verification of the uni-dimensionality of the bank as a whole. The article also highlights some of the difficulties that can be encountered, such as being able to obtain adequate coverage of the test’s object or the range of the ability. The process described was overall successful and sufficiently general to be able to adapt to different needs, such as the construction of parallel linear tests or traditional adaptive tests (CAT – Computer-based Adaptive Test), aimed not only at summative or system assessment, but also, if the dimensions of the bank allow it, to formative evaluation.","PeriodicalId":175961,"journal":{"name":"ECPS - Educational Cultural and Psychological Studies","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128417573","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The analysis confirms the structure of five schemes: Proportionality, variable control, probability, correlation and combinatorial, with adequate adjustment and reliability rates. A general low achievement level in the test tasks was observed, with the best overall achievement level in the tasks related to proportionality and correlation schemes, and the worst achievement level in the tasks related with the use of probabilities. There are significant differences depending on the educational level to which the students belong, and an evolutionary pattern is observed in their scores. Significant differences are also reported in function of gender and the administrative unit of the institutions the students attend. The main findings and implications for the Chilean educational system are discussed, focusing in the subject of mathematics.","PeriodicalId":175961,"journal":{"name":"ECPS - Educational Cultural and Psychological Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129281700","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Why do individuals procrastinate work completion? There are many factors that cause individuals to procrastinate their works, both external or situational factors and internal or personal factors. The aim of this study was to examine the role of the personal factor in procrastination. Three hundred and sixty-five undergraduate students completed questionnaires that assessed the motivation type of the students’ learning, the level of test anxiety, the level to which they procrastinate on doing tasks, and their self-efficacy regarding tasks and tests. The results of this study indicated that procrastination was negatively related to learning-goal orientation and self-efficacy and was positively associated with test anxiety. The results of structural equation modeling testing indicated that self-efficacy mediated the relations between goal orientation and procrastination and between test anxiety and procrastination. These results highlighted the importance of multiple students’ type of goal orientation motivation. Self-efficacy and test anxiety consistently affected procrastination with different characteristic. Self-efficacy effected significantly negative on procrastination, while test anxiety effected significantly positive on procrastination. Detailed discussion is presented in this study.","PeriodicalId":175961,"journal":{"name":"ECPS - Educational Cultural and Psychological Studies","volume":"131 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127026338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Bronfenbrenner’s (1979) ecological theory served as a guide for the definition of the research process and the identification of dimensions to explore. The aim of the present study was to analyze the psychometric properties of the ECPQ II intended for first-grade secondary schooling. The 26-item version of the ECPQ II was administered to a sample of 2029 students, enrolled in lower secondary schools (grades 6-8) in Rome. An Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was applied and the factor model structure was tested for model fit using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The five-factor model showed a good fit to the data and had good reliability. The current research confirmed the factor structure of the measure and showed that the ECPQ II, adapted to assess the first-grade secondary schooling, has supportive psychometric properties of validity and reliability.","PeriodicalId":175961,"journal":{"name":"ECPS - Educational Cultural and Psychological Studies","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121449325","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study begins with an introductory part, trying to find the fundamental bases over which it is possible to build a framework about instructional design. This means designing the context, the levels, the open or closed structure of the project, the conditions for its realization, the evaluation and the ensuring feedback on the design itself. The second part specifically deals with the design of kindergartens and primary schools, after having highlighted the general concepts and the main distinctions behind the subject. It then faces, in a historical perspective, the problem of the models made by the pedagogists and the scholars of educational problems. This paper focuses in particular on the learning goals programming, on the concept based programming (concept maps), on the guided environment programming («sfondi integratori») and on the backward design approach.","PeriodicalId":175961,"journal":{"name":"ECPS - Educational Cultural and Psychological Studies","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134438585","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Italy, also in the perspective of the long life learning, the 205/2017 law attributes a fundamental role to the educator in connection with the dialogue, the collaboration and the interaction between the professional community and the school service. As observed by some ICF-CY based research (the ICF-CY application has recently been underlined also in the formative field), the educator is a link between school, children, students and families. He gives a very important contribute to realize the «Plan of education for sustainability» and the governance of special educational needs, enhancing formal, informal and non-formal learning. The educator can contribute to constructing innovative practices and reflective transformation by deepening and research: this is an identifying element of inclusive governance. In this context, the educator is an engine of effective relationship and mediation between school and territory and he establishes himself as a professional able to act in the dialectic and constructive relationship with all the subjects who work in educational services.","PeriodicalId":175961,"journal":{"name":"ECPS - Educational Cultural and Psychological Studies","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128470789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present paper aims at focusing on the effectiveness of career interventions for university or graduate students and on its relationship with some study design and intervention characteristics. A meta-analysis was conducted on studies published between 2000 and 2015 which complied with the following inclusion criteria: university or graduate students as target population, the evaluation of specific career-related interventions or programs, and an experimental or quasiexperimental design. The selection procedure resulted in 9 eligible studies – overall assessing 12 interventions – out of 823 examined articles. The results indicated, on average, a large effect (weighted ES = .80; 95% CI = .54, 1.06) better outcomes from socio-constructivist interventions compared to those based on social cognition theory and person-environment fit model, and higher impact on the reduction of career indecision than on the increase of decision-making self-efficacy. Some recommendations for researchers and policy makers are provided, as well as methodological issues and practical implications for career interventions are discussed.","PeriodicalId":175961,"journal":{"name":"ECPS - Educational Cultural and Psychological Studies","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133112282","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
