This approach uses eye tracking information to build the saliency map and allows multiple usage scenarios. The approach can be used in single or multiple viewer environments. We evaluate the approach and provide results based on subjective measurements. The results confirm that the proposed approach for video compression is competitive and can deliver better quality of experience than standard video compression algorithms.","PeriodicalId":175742,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium ELMAR","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131455215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Analyses were performed on model with two convolutional layers followed by pooling layer, and one fully-connected layer followed by dropout and softmax layer on the output. On this model we analyzed time characteristics of speech signal represented by spectrograms. The aim of our work was to find relation between duration of speech signal and the recognition rate of seven basic emotions. It was discovered that speech length is important and naturally the accuracy is growing with the length of analyzed window, however over approximately 1.2 seconds the growth becomes rather mild.","PeriodicalId":175742,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium ELMAR","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126031030","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper deals with various methods of image processing and coding, to protect privacy through face identification. We proposed an encryption procedure implemented in software that allows face detection and subsequent blurring of selected fragments by DCT image transformation while preserving the details needed for successful reconstruction within the same image. A blind steganographic method was used for information embedding into the source cover image. This protected image is accessible to be viewed for ordinary viewers and a dedicated decoder is required for content restoration. The decoder ensures that only authorized persons are allowed to see the content without censorship. The conclusion of the paper focuses on the quality evaluation of the proposed method based on observed statistical parameters.","PeriodicalId":175742,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium ELMAR","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127136611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

New standards have now been introduced that allow these old technologies to be phased out in favor of standards-based products that offer interoperability and long-term support from multiple vendors. SMPTE 2022 and SMPTE 2110 are new global standards that will be deployed by broadcasters around the world. As bitrates increase and equipment prices drop, Internet Protocol-based (IP-based) communication technologies, both fixed and wireless alike, are pushing more and more dedicated communication systems into retirement. The sheer amount of connectors currently found on professional video cameras make some of the advantages obvious that an IP-based solution brings. New applications for TV production made possible by these features are only limited by your imagination.","PeriodicalId":175742,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium ELMAR","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127248049","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, two approaches for preemptive traffic light control are compared by applying a microscopic simulation model. The first approach uses fixed values of vehicle arrival time and queue lengths thresholds while the second is fuzzy logic based and hence more adaptive. Both approaches are tested in six different scenarios with an use case consisting of a simulated isolated intersection based on real traffic data. Analysis of the results shows that the travel time of emergency vehicles can be reduced by up to 24 % in heavily congested conditions with a slight edge given to the fuzzy logic based approach. Both approaches show negligible negative effects on the total travel times of all vehicles in the network.","PeriodicalId":175742,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium ELMAR","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123173313","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, it is important to have a measure to quantify intersection performance, especially during rush hours. Usually, intersection's Level of Service (LoS) is used as a performance measure in project design, today. In this paper, we present a method to estimate queue length, control delay and LoS of intersection approaches. Queue lengths and control delays are estimated by processing aggregated historical GPS data. We analyze LoS, queue length and control delays for most relevant intersections in the City of Zagreb. The results show the application of the proposed methods for evaluating intersection approach performance in urban areas in order to detect low-performance intersections.","PeriodicalId":175742,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium ELMAR","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130737393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the biggest challenges in this transition is use of High Dynamic Range (HDR) for live production applications. Use of HDR technology is very important as it can provide better adoption of cameras to rapidly changing lighting condition. High Dynamic Range increases the difference between black and white beyond the contrast range of conventional television. That means water can glisten, stars can twinkle, and sunlight can be golden, all whilst maintaining detail in the shadows. This paper will explain one of the techniques how to simultaneously produce 4K-HDR and SDR in live events and bring HDR content to consumer UHD TV sets. Explanation of Color Gamut and Electro-Optical Transfer Function will help to better understand different HDR standards and processing that needs to be applied in the whole chain.","PeriodicalId":175742,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium ELMAR","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132179212","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
