We aimed to evaluate the usefulness of the device by using it and location information of a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) to measure dust generation in outdoor workplaces. We used nine WPMs and a particle counter KC-52 to measure in parallel the dust concentration diffusing standard particles in a dust exposure apparatus to evaluate the measurability of the WPM, and visualized dust generation in outdoor workplaces to evaluate its usability. We obtained location information using a GNSS in parallel with measuring with the WPM. The measured values of the WPM followed the measured values of the KC-52, with a strong correlation of the values between the KC-52 and each WPM. The discrepancy among devices tended to increase, however, because the measured values of the WPMs increased. For outdoor measurements, we could create a heat map of the relative values of dust generation by combining two data of the WPM and the GNSS. The methods of using the WPM could overview the conditions needed to produce dust emissions in dust-generating workplaces.","PeriodicalId":17570,"journal":{"name":"Journal of UOEH","volume":"44 1 1","pages":"1-13"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41944880","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication that contributes to the loss of physical function. Rehabilitation is crucial, but its efficacy and safety are unknown. Here we present a case of a patient with MCNS complicated by AKI, who commenced rehabilitation after dialysis was discontinued and experienced improved mobility. The patient, a woman in her 70s, was admitted to our hospital with bilateral lower limb edema and decreased urine output for approximately 5 days. Treatment with prednisolone and furosemide was initiated, but then dialysis was initiated due to AKI. Rehabilitation was started after dialysis was discontinued. The patient's muscle strength and physical activity improved, and her exercise capacity and exercise tolerance improved without adverse effects. Rehabilitation may contribute to the improvement of exercise capacity without worsening renal function and urinary protein in patients with MCNS complicated by AKI.</p>","PeriodicalId":17570,"journal":{"name":"Journal of UOEH","volume":"44 3","pages":"257-262"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"33459473","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The importance of histopathological imaging and the clinical course of this tumor are unknown. The objective of our report was to investigate whether these components affect treatment outcomes and prognosis compared to conventional cancers. A 40-year-old woman with cervical cancer showed leukocytosis and elevated granulocyte colony simulating factor (G-CSF). The patient underwent a radical abdominal hysterectomy. Pathology revealed a poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix, similar to giant cell carcinoma. The patient recovered from the disease and is alive 37 months after concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT). Leukocytosis and G-CSF were normalized after treatment. This was our second case of giant cell carcinoma of the cervix. Cumulative data on giant cell carcinoma are limited, thus we considered the prognostic significance of the presence of giant cell carcinoma in uterine carcinoma.</p>","PeriodicalId":17570,"journal":{"name":"Journal of UOEH","volume":"44 3","pages":"263-267"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"33459474","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Six rats each of wild type (WT) and DMD model at 15 weeks of age, and 4 rats each at 30 weeks of age, were analyzed by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry and by micro-CT for analysis of trabecular and cortical bone of the femur. Bone mineral density was significantly lower in the DMD group than in the WT group at both 15 and 30 weeks of age. Micro-CT showed that trabecular bone volume and number were not significantly different between the two groups at 15 weeks, but at 30 weeks both were significantly lower in the DMD group than in the WT group. Connectivity density and structure model index were not significantly different between the two groups at 15 weeks, but at 30 weeks they differed significantly. Vessels located outside of previously-dissected neck regions tend to be more frequently selected due to relative ease of preparation. However, some advantages are offered regarding dead space filling and formation by using vascular anastomoses within regions previously dissected, or reusing former free flap pedicle due to their proximity to the defect. We analyzed microsurgical anastomoses in patients requiring oral reconstruction who had previously undergone neck dissection. Contralateral vascular anastomoses were preoperatively planned in 10 cases of which 9 could be successfully performed (achievement rate, 90%). Ipsilateral side anastomoses were planned in 28 cases, with 26 anastomosed as planned (achievement rate, 92.9%). There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups. Vascular anastomosis within the scar region can be performed safely, based on preoperative planning and intraoperative judgment.</p>","PeriodicalId":17570,"journal":{"name":"Journal of UOEH","volume":" ","pages":"331-339"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"40463002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We performed a 75g oral glucose tolerance test, and the patient was diagnosed as having impaired glucose tolerance with a 1-hour blood glucose of 245 mg/dl and a 2-hour blood glucose of 196 mg/dl. The patient also showed hypoglycemia with a 6-hour blood glucose of 46 mg/dl, and delayed hypersecretion of insulin, which was diagnosed as reactive hypoglycemia. The patient was diagnosed as having reactive hypoglycemia with delayed hypersecretion of insulin. She was given dietary guidance to avoid simple carbohydrates, and voglibose 0.6 mg was started for glucose intolerance and reactive hypoglycemia. The frequency of hypoglycemic symptoms decreased for a while, but gradually increased again. An interview revealed that the frequency of hypoglycemia was high at 2-3 days before menstruation, and Flash Glucose Monitoring (FGM) was applied to check the blood glucose fluctuation before and after menstruation. Her postprandial hyperglycemia worsened with FGM, and reactive hypoglycemia appeared 3 days before menstruation, while postprandial hyperglycemia improved and reactive hypoglycemia disappeared 4 days after menstruation. The frequency of hypoglycemia was reduced by instructing the patient to take voglibose before menses and to eat a supplementary meal after lunch a few days before menses. There have been no reports on the evaluation of reactive hypoglycemia exacerbated before menstruation by FGM. The menstrual cycle should be considered in the diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of reactive hypoglycemia.","PeriodicalId":17570,"journal":{"name":"Journal of UOEH","volume":"44 3","pages":"301-306"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"33459479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the mechanisms for hypertension in patients with nocturnal apnea is an enhancement of the plasma membrane response to acute hypoxia in carotid body glomus cells. Hypoxia is known to induce depolarization via inhibiting TWIK-related acid-sensitive K<sup>+</sup> (TASK) channels, one type of leak K<sup>+</sup> channels, in glomus cells. The present experiment was undertaken to immunocytochemically investigate the effects of CIH on the expression and intracellular localization of TASK1 channels and p11 that critically affect the trafficking of TASK1 to the cell surface. The expression levels of TASK1 proteins and p11 and their intracellular localization in rat carotid body glomus cells were not noticeably affected by CIH, suggesting that the enhanced membrane response to acute hypoxia is not due to an increase in surface TASK channels.</p>","PeriodicalId":17570,"journal":{"name":"Journal of UOEH","volume":"44 3","pages":"249-255"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"33459092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Radiotherapy may be an alternative option to prolong survival in cases with locally advanced unresectable disease. While there are some reports of long-term survival after radiotherapy for unresectable biliary tract cancer, it is rare that clinical symptoms are exhibited by peritoneal dissemination more than 8 years after radiotherapy and that resection can be performed. Our case was a 55-year-old female who had visited with a complaint of jaundice and was diagnosed with primary unresectable hilar cholangiocarcinoma. She received definitve chemoradiotherapy, and repeated receiving maintenance chemotherapy thereafter until clinical manifestation. During follow-up, she was diagnosed with stenosis of the sigmoid colon, which was attributed to peritoneal dissemination of cholangiocarcinoma. Mass vaccination in workplaces in Japan was subsequently promoted, targeting health care workers and senior citizens. We overviewed the pathophysiology of COVID-19 and reviewed reports containing fatal outcomes, compensation programs, and remedial measures for health damage after vaccinations, in relation to their relevant legislations. The Immunization Act was amended prior to the mass vaccination to authorize the indemnity agreement between the government and pharmaceutical companies to compensate for losses based on health damages after vaccination. Pursuant to the Civil Code and the State Redress Act, employers reserve the right to obtain reimbursement when they are liable to pay compensation for damages inflicted on a third party.
