The idea to adapt principles and technologies from the TFR concept to the development of a functional recipe to slow the progression of HIV to AIDS proves to be meaningful and realisable in Amtewa meal nutrition intervention approach. Although the achieved results take the form of specific technology, it suggests that a prolong consumption of the intervention meal (Amtewa) will be suitable to sustain the gained improvements in the anthropometric and biochemical indices. The research highlighted crucial issues and identified key design parameters that require further attention and research in developing countries like Nigeria. Overall, it addresses the synergistic relationship between nutrition and HIV infection, the nutritional requirement and nutritional care and support for PLWHIV in Nigeria. While the nutrition intervention demonstrated a positive effect, the study also suggests that the initial visit of a newly diagnosed HIV-positive patient should include screening for nutritional status, identify risks and offer appropriate nutrition counseling which was not in existence but currently has been imbedded as “Nutritional Framework” within the HIV care and support programme in one of the accredited HIV treatment centres in Nigeria. This Nutritional Framework has provided information to PLWHIV on their HIV medication and food interactions and about nutritional screening tools available in the health setting. Finally, the research provides evidence which may be used as a basis for policy makers to incorporate Amtewa meal nutrition intervention in HIV care and support programme in other HIV treatment centres in Nigeria with a view of attenuating the progression of HIV to AIDS amongst PLWHIV in Nigeria. Applying the medical imaging methods and techniques, performing the nuclear medicine tests and the radiotherapy procedures would be unthinkable without the participation of highly competent radiographers. The introduction of new high-tech equipment and technologies as well as of diagnosing and treating methods pose new challenges to the radiographers who now have to adopt new knowledge and skills and to perfect their competences in order to respond to the challenges of modern healthcare. This study aims at establishing the attitudes and tendency of practicing radiographers towards expanding their professional competences in their field of practice. Documentary, sociological and statistical methods have been used. Sources related to the topic have been researched. The study presents the opinion of 182 radiographers practicing in the North-Eastern region of Bulgaria regarding the attitudes and the tendency to expand the professional competences of radiographers. The interviewees have been distributed as follows: 137 radiographers (75.27%) practicing in the field of medical imaging, 42 (23.08%) – in radiotherapy and 3 (1.65%) in the field of nuclear medicine. The data has been processed mathematically and statistically and the results have been presented as graphs. The study showed that the radiographers from all three fields of practice and within the age group 22-40 years (professional experience up to 15 years) are more willing to expand their professional competences in the field of practice but after additional training compared to the age group 40-60 years (professional experience more than 15 years) who consider the competence they already possess allows them to perform the assigned tasks and that adopting new competences would increase their work load. The data obtained from the study in terms of the field of practice is quite interesting. The radiographers practicing in the field of radiotherapy are more willing to adopt new competences compared to those practicing in the field of medical imaging and nuclear medicine. This is due to some extent to the fact that radiographers working in the field of medical imaging have to deal with more work load, often in emergency situations and this would make difficult assuming new responsibilities.","PeriodicalId":175603,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advance Research in Medical & Health Science (ISSN: 2208-2425)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117009676","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The huge files contain lots of duplicate copies. Therefore, the ideal of compression comes into play. Image data compression removes redundant copies (multiple unnecessary copies) that increase the storage space and transmission bandwidth. Image data compression is pivotal as it helps reduce image file size and speeds up file transmission rate over the internet through multiple wavelet analytics methods without loss in the transmitted medical image data. Therefore this report presents data compression implementation for healthcare systems using a proposed scheme of discrete wavelet transform (DWT), Fourier transform (FT) and Fast Fourier transform with capacity of compressing and recovering medical image data without data loss. Healthcare images such as those of human heart and brain need fast transmission for reliable and efficient result. Using DWT which has optimal reconstruction quality greatly improves compression. A representation of enabling innovations in communication technologies with big data for health monitoring is achievable through effective data compression techniques. Our experimental implementation shows that using Haar wavelet with parametric determination of MSE and PSNR solve our aims. Many imaging techniques were also deployed to further ascertain DWT method’s efficiency such as image compression and image de-noising. The proposed compression of medical image was excellent. It is essential to reduce the size of data sets by employing compression procedures to shrink storage space, reduce transmission rate, and limit massive energy usage in health monitoring systems. The motivation for this work was to implement compression method to modify traditional healthcare platform to lower file size, and reduce cost of operation. Image compression aims at reconstructing images from extensively lesser estimations than were already thought necessary in relations with non-zero coefficients. Rationally, fewer well-chosen interpretations is adequate to reproduce the new sample exactly as the source image. We look at DWT to implement our compression method.","PeriodicalId":175603,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advance Research in Medical & Health Science (ISSN: 2208-2425)","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132593403","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Constant changes in the conditions and the technological development in healthcare lead to the necessity to adopt new competences which correspond to the requirements and needs of the healthcare system. The term professional competence most often is associated with the presence of quality characteristics (knowledge and skills) determining the mastering of a certain profession in order to effectively solve specific tasks and issues in real-life professional environment. Modern concepts of professional competence include not only mastering of the fundaments of the chosen profession but also the possible perspectives for own personal improvement, future specialisation, professionalization and realization.","PeriodicalId":175603,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advance Research in Medical & Health Science (ISSN: 2208-2425)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125626553","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, it continues to be a concern to families, community leaders, educators, social workers, health care professionals, academics, government and its development partners. Though there are some studies on drug abuse, there is none on children and drug abuse focusing on the street children the most vulnerable category. Street children are hypothesized to be more at risk of any epidemic including drug abuse. This study sought to determine the risk and prevalence of drug abuse among street children focusing on those in the car parks. The research was focused on six critical areas: level of knowledge of drug abuse, perception towards it, level of knowledge of the causes of it in the community and among street children, level of knowledge of negative impacts of it, level of knowledge of the preventive methods; and level of knowledge of the support services and treatments needed by victims. A structured questionnaire was used to collect the data from thirty five participants (i.e. one driver and six casual apprentices from each of the five car parks) were interviewed. The data was presented and analyzed using tables and percentage. The findings revealed among other things, that there is high level of awareness of drug abuse but the feelings towards it are mixed. Like other children, street children are abusing drugs mainly due to peer influence with the ultimate objective of getting high to relief stress, group recognition, desire to be trusted by peers, etc. Similarly, participants are highly aware of the negative impacts encompassing fighting, stealing, mental illness, etc. To finance the behavior, victims are engaged in all types of dangerous antisocial behavior including romantic ones exposing them to a range of diseases including STIs and HIV/AIDS. Marijuana is the most commonly abused drug. Though in the minority, some have started experimenting cocaine/coke, hashish; and heroin. While participants have good knowledge of the critical methods to fight drug abuse, the support services needed by victims, victims are mostly reluctant to seek the services not only because they are hard to find but fear societal stigmatization, exclusion and discrimination and professionals’ maltreatments.","PeriodicalId":175603,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advance Research in Medical & Health Science (ISSN: 2208-2425)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130026342","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
