Florencia","doi":"10.56741/esl.v2i01.239","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.56741/esl.v2i01.239","url":null,"abstract":"The COVID-19 which started in late 2019 has led to extraordinary measures by government and commerce, to control and reduce the spread of the virus. Many companies have had to rethink the way they work due to travel restrictions and cancellations of major events. While workers related to production activities as well as system-related workers such as bank tellers, cashiers, medical staff, and distribution operators are still working on site, the majority of the workforce in Indonesia has been encouraged to practice \"working from home\" or remote working during the pandemic. Remote Working means adapting to new circumstances, battling a new set of distractions, as well as experiencing an unprecedented mix of work and personal life. Committing to work from home without understanding performance indicators and drivers can lead to a company's operational failure. Even though the COVID-19 pandemic measures are decreasing, the need to implement a new normal of work that allows for flexible work arrangements and implementation of remote work is increasing. Therefore, the organization needs to understand and control the measures required to keep the company productive in the new work setting. This is important to maintain organizational resilience against any pandemics and technological disruptions, as well as to ensure organizational sustainability. Seven performance indicators of remote work performance and eight influencing factors have been compiled in this study by reviewing previous research on remote work, virtual teamwork, agile teamwork and knowledge management. Further studies are needed to verify the performance indicators and influencing factors, to reveal the correlations between the measures and to identify the most likely drivers of remote work that may transform an organization to its new setting.","PeriodicalId":174894,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Science Letter","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126852579","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, we proposed, designed, fabricated, and evaluated a low-cost CNC Router machine that can perform numerous tasks (i.e., spindle engraving, laser, and plotter). Although we first employed a market-available CNC machine, we have developed, changed, and improved almost everything of it so that it can run and go through multiple processes in a single coding process with higher accuracy and efficiency. As a result, the proposed machine is adjusted to conduct an integrated operation without making any significant changes. Through the calibration process, we have validated that the proposed system is capable of performing high-accuracy processes. The proposed CNC router has a wide range of applications and can conduct a variety of engraving procedures, including plotting. Furthermore, when the machine is running, the project runs thru the checks on the accuracy analysis through several processes to ensure the accurate accuracy of the three available processes (spindle, laser, and plotter).","PeriodicalId":174894,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Science Letter","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125839127","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

RFID technology allows data to be encoded in a small form (tag). The data contained inside the RFID tag can be captured wirelessly by the RFID reader through electromagnetic (EM) waves. On the other hand, localization techniques have achieved significant developments in the last decade. There is a wide range of localization tool variations, including satellite-based localization (i.e., GPSS, GLONASS), Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), IMU, camera, infrared sensor, and even RF-based localization. In this work, we present an accurate localization technique via battery-less passive RFID tag-UAV integration. We have employed two low-complexity methods: generalized cross-correlation with phase transformation (GCC-PHAT) algorithm and triangulation technique. By simulation, we have validated that an accurate antenna array-based dynamic localization can be realized. For the sake of simplicity, we only demonstrate two-dimensional movement. However, the identical method can also be used in the three-dimensional movement. While this paper considers only two antenna arrays and one RFID tag, the proposed concept can be expanded to a more extensive system with a larger number of antenna arrays and RFID tags.","PeriodicalId":174894,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Science Letter","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116349620","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In advanced technical education, laboratories are essential learning spaces. Providing laboratory facilities at universities with limited funds and technical know-how is difficult due to the high expenses of installation and upkeep. In order to tackle these obstacles, \"virtual laboratories\" have been established. Through remote access, virtual laboratories make it possible for users to conduct experiments similar to genuine systems. Consequently, resources of laboratories can be shared across a wide community of geographically dispersed customers while restricting operational expenses and initial set-up to one single institution. This article reviews the virtual laboratory for engineering education. Three distinct e-learning resource methods are discussed. The intrinsic objectives of animation are also explained. Lastly, the conclusion is provided along with recommendation for future studies.","PeriodicalId":174894,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Science Letter","volume":"190 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126705475","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The developed study provides a solution to the loss of expiry costs by adding a return factor. This research aims to create an inventory model that considers expiration factors, permissible payment delays, discounts, and product returns. This is mainly due to its capability to improve wireless energy and spectrum efficiency by reconfiguring the wireless environment in a smart and flexible way. IRS is capable of shifting the phase, amplitude, frequency, or even polarity of the impinging electromagnetic (EM) wave. However, only the phase-shift type of IRS is widely adopted in most scenarios. In this paper, we exploit the property of such IRS to directly modulate an incident EM wave with phase shift keying (PSK) modulation. We consider one transmit antenna that transmits a continuous single-tone electromagnetic (EM) wave, which is then modulated by the IRS and reflected toward the receiver. In addition to the theoretical explanation, we present simulation results with different modulation orders. Moreover, we validated the simulation results by experiment. Furthermore, we also proposed a beam scanning method to obtain IRS patterns to steer the beam towards the desired direction in an adaptive manner. One optimal pattern that maximizes the received power is then selected from the beam scanning codebook. By doing so, a wireless path strength can be significantly improved.","PeriodicalId":174894,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Science Letter","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126472039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
