IoT applications have been widely used in several fields of social living such as healthcare and social products, industrial automation and energy. In this scenario, there are more than 14 billion interconnected digital and electronic devices in operation worldwide, the equivalent of almost two devices for every human being on earth. The IoT connects different nonliving objects through the internet and enables them to share information with their community network to automate processes for human beings and makes their lives convenient. Subsequently, objects are being amalgamated with internet connectivity and powerful data analysis capabilities that promise to change the way we work and live. The Internet is a worldwide system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to serve billions of users globally. The most vital characteristics of IoT include connectivity, active engagement, connectivity, sensors, artificial intelligence, and small device use. This paper provides an overview of existing Internet of Things (IoT), technical details, and applications in this new emerging area as well as we are thoroughly analyzing the layer about the IoT. However, this manuscript will give a better understanding for the new researchers, who want to do research in this field of Internet of Things.","PeriodicalId":174733,"journal":{"name":"Communications on Applied Electronics","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127694521","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most of these schemes could not preserve users’ privacy especially during the initial connection, although, few that are able to preserve subscribers’ identities completely left out Mobile Management Entity (MME) during International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) exchange. The inherent isolation of MME makes it impossible for MME to link pseudonym with identity in the subsequent connection. In this work an improved privacy aware authentication scheme is proposed, which does not only preserve the subscribers’ privacy during initial connection but allows MME to generate and map subscriber pseudonym with its identity in order to use pseudonym for subsequent connections. Thus, reduces computational overheads by reducing number of authentication operations performed by MME. A key-cluster based matrix approach was adopted at the Home Subscriber Server (HSS) to speed up the identification of subscribers. The controlling of the high-performance motor is characterized by smooth operation of the motor over entire speed range, control ability of torque even at zero speed, fast acceleration, and deceleration. The optimization of the speedcontrol performance under different constraints and uncertainties is the biggest concern in PMSM. In that sense, various speedcontrol mechanisms were presented towards identifying the better way to control PMSM drive having high-speed features and desired torque response. However, it is necessary to have a suitable control mechanism where the better adjustment of performance can be achieved for a different operating condition. However, it is quite hard to distinguish the system characteristics and dynamic control parameters during real-time operation due to complexity in PMSM system. This paper intends to present the survey of controlling strategies in PMSM and current research trends in PMSM. Along with the research gap, a futuristic line of research is presented.","PeriodicalId":174733,"journal":{"name":"Communications on Applied Electronics","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133248799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sample elevation profile data for a 40 Km path with hilly obstruction was collected using web-based Geocontext elevation profile tool. The maximum elevation of 307.4569 m occurred at a distance of the maximum elevation point from the transmitter. The two radius of curvature methods were applied to the elevation data. The exact radius of curvature based on the circle fitting empirical method is 38,375.22 m whereas the radius of curvature based on the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) parabola fitting method is 34, 029.98 m. Furthermore, while the radius by the empirical circle fitting method remained the same under different microwave frequencies, for the ITU parabola fitting method, there was over 89 % reduction in the radius of curvature from 60,369.69 m at 1 GHz L-band microwave frequency to 11,476.36 m at 12 GHz Ku-band microwave frequency. The essence of this study is to demonstrate the wide variation in the radius of curvature due to the frequency and also to advise that the ITU method may be used only when the ITU method of rounded edge diffraction loss is employed. The other rounded edge diffraction loss methods can use other approximation methods that compare favorably with the exact radius in all frequencies.","PeriodicalId":174733,"journal":{"name":"Communications on Applied Electronics","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134491783","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The mechanism consists of a set of algorithms and analytical expressions for resolving conflicts and managing constraints in the university timetable scheduling system. In order to handle conflicts associated with courses, the courses are ranked based on their total ranking scores (TRS). In order to handle conflicts associated with course lecturers, the lecturers are ranked based on their ranking weight (W). Provision is also made to accommodate students’ activities constraints. The venues are first matched with the courses based on their carrying capacity which is enough to accommodate the class size. Then the procedure for time allocation to courses on the timetable considers the course ranking first before the lecturers ranking. In all, the design constraints and decisions were based on information on the timetable issues at University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria. The mechanism was used in a proof of concept webbased timetable management system for University of Uyo and with the sample data used to test the system there was no observed conflict in the timetable. Though the present mechanism for automating timetable conflict resolution is tailored towards University of Uyo as the case study, the idea presented can be adapted or further developed and generalized to apply to other institutions.","PeriodicalId":174733,"journal":{"name":"Communications on Applied Electronics","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114396216","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Big data is the term used to describe such type of data. Analytics of big data aims to use advanced analytic techniques on very large data sets that are collected from different sources in different formats. Mining anomalies from big data is a powerful mining task that is used mainly in critical systems. Applications work with big data require efficient outliers detection system. Outlier detection system in big data need to be efficiently designed to cope with its distinct features of volume, speed, complexity, and variety. The huge volume of outliers detected in big data is a barrier for outlier's diagnosis and analysis. Due to the cost of analysis each anomaly, outlier detector needs to be accurate as possible. Minimization of false positive alerts is a key feature that increases the accuracy of the detector system. This paper present a new propose model for reducing the false positive alerts using outliers detection. The proposed model uses cluster analysis by DBscan algorithm to highlight the outliers and then validates these outliers and reduces false positive alerts using Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm. The experimental study proves the efficiency of the proposed model with reported accuracy equals to 99%.","PeriodicalId":174733,"journal":{"name":"Communications on Applied Electronics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117346802","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
