Conventional methods of classifying earth features (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index, NDVI, and Normalized Difference Water Index, NDWI) were first used to generate the data for the training of the ANFIS model using the three bands in Landsat 8 (band 2: Blue, band 4: Red and band 5: NIR). The performance of the developed ANFIS model was validated using four different satellite images and the results compared with the conventional classification methods. An accuracy level of 98.66 – 99.88 % with a RMSE of 0.0218 – 0.0506 were obtained. General Terms Satellite images, image identification and classification, earth surface features.","PeriodicalId":174733,"journal":{"name":"Communications on Applied Electronics","volume":"189 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116342245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Tripathy","doi":"10.5120/cae2020652854","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5120/cae2020652854","url":null,"abstract":"A multiplier block can be implemented either by shift add technique, Booth algorithm or Vedic algorithm, in DSP applications. However, these techniques do not work for a certain class of numbers known as exceptions. They are +infinity, -infinity and Not a Number (NaN). The solution to address these exceptions is a “Fused add-subtract” module. The addition and subtraction modules are fused together to give two outputs giving both addition and subtraction results. The time delay and the number of Look-Up Tables (LUTs) of the existing Fused add-subtract unit have been found to be quite high to meet the present-day requirements of speed. Therefore, a novel algorithm for fused add-subtract has been proposed in this paper. In the floating-point unit (FPU), building blocks of the addition and subtraction are fused together, resulting in reduction of the number of computations as well as the area usage. The existing fused add-sub module is compared with the proposed module in terms of delay and the number of LUTs. The new algorithm is observed to reduce the time delay and area by 12.5% and 18.878% respectively as compared to the conventional one.","PeriodicalId":174733,"journal":{"name":"Communications on Applied Electronics","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127237943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The maximum laboratory efficiency of multicrystalline cell is about 22% which is hardly attainable in field due to entirely different and variable climatic conditions. Increasing the efficiency in real field conditions is one of the greatest challenges of solar photovoltaics. Evaluating effect of major climatic parameters on the efficiency in the real field conditions can pave the way for increasing the efficiency of solar photovoltaic power plants. This paper evaluates the relative effect and role of irradiance and cell temperature acting simultaneously on solar cell conversion efficiency and DC power efficiency of a multicrystalline photovoltaic array for the climatic conditions of Western Rajasthan. It brings forward for the first time ever the defining positive role of cell temperature on the solar cell conversion efficiency and DC power efficiency of a multicrystalline photovoltaic array in contrast to literature and research papers all which show efficiency decreases with increase in temperature. On this premise, three respective sensors were saddle with the responsibility of monitoring any anomalies from the aforementioned likelihoods of fire in market shops of which their presence above threshold possess a treat to lives and properties. These sensors are: LM35 for monitoring temperature, MQ5 and MQ7 for monitoring gas and smoke respectively. For LM35, a threshold of 50C was used as a threshold for alarm and for MQ5 and MQ7, a threshold of 1000PPM (Part per Million) was used as the alarm threshold. Each sensor was grafted into four respective modeled market stalls. Threshold for smoke and gas were chosen based on the standard set by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and that of temperature was chosen based on the firing point of most materials that can easily kindle in flames, predominantly found in market stalls as discovered in consulted literatures. Once smoke is detected and its concentration approaches threshold, a fire fighting mechanism which is positioned strategically in the market stall, is triggered automatically to combat the fire generating the smoke. A GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) module called SIM 800L is used to send notification as alarm through text message to owners of respective market shops when threshold is being approached. Lastly, an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) display is used to display the status of all sensors to users. The brain of the whole project control rest on the shoulders of a microcontroller called ATMEGA328p.","PeriodicalId":174733,"journal":{"name":"Communications on Applied Electronics","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126190448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The medical negligence and cut practice are prevalent in developing and developed societies in one form or other. In the past there has been unfortunate case where doctors pretend to give treatment to an already expired patient to overcharge and even in some cases hospital authorities try to influence postmortem reports in their favor to avoid any medico-legal case. This paper attempts to provide a solution to restrict such medical malpractices in case of critically ill patients admitted to ICU having cancer, heart attack, coronary bypass surgery etc. The paper suggests building a permissioned private Blockchain solution with the help of Cloud, IoT, wearable devices and smart medical devices fitted with sensors. The Cloud based system will receive vital health parameters of patient with help of wearable and sensors devices on regular interval of time which is configurable and append new hash block to immutable Blockchain ledger using cryptographic hash function.
