La politique de (re)creation de pres de 54 000 postes sur cinq ans decidee en 2012 a donne une actualite nouvelle a cet enjeu, tant les besoins ont ete importants et inegalement combles. Pour autant, l’analyse des tensions entre les postes a pourvoir et le nombre de candidats conduit a un tableau plus nuance que l’idee globalisante souvent donnee a propos d’une « crise » de recrutement, qui entre elle-meme en resonance avec une supposee « crise des vocations » ou de l’identite des enseignants (Perier, 2004 ; 2013). Sans minimiser l’ampleur des questions et changements qui traversent et travaillent les metiers de l’education en France et ailleurs (Commission europeenne, 2013), le regard porte sur les difficultes de recrutement necessite d’une part, de contextualiser les modes d’acces a la fonction et, d’autre part, de differencier les elements constitutifs d’un enjeu a plusieurs dimensions. Se pose, en effet, au-dela d’une preoccupation a la fois quantitative de taux de couverture et « qualitative » de ratios de candidats par poste, la question des representations du metier, de ses conditions d’exercice et de son statut dans la societe.
