It is again assumed that in the critical elastic-plastic transverse cross-section there are the elastic and plastic parts of the area, keeping strength. It is still assumed that in the elastic-plastic transverse cross-section only the elastic part of column keeps the resistance, i.e. the transverse cross-section area A= Ael, moment of inertia of a cross-section area Jz= Jzel as well as still is assumed that the elastic Young’s modulus E features the elastic static moment Szel, and the plastic modulus Epl features the plastic static moment Szpl. The new simplification is that the elastic Young’s modulus E is varying with the slenderness ratio Lambda and equals the compress modulus, i.e. E= Ec(Lambda) as well as the plastic modulus equals the secant compress modulus also is varying with the slenderness ratio Lambda, i.e. Epl= Esc(Lambda) taken from the experimental researches. The graphs of the functions of the curved axes, their slopes, deflections, stresses and strains of the thin-walled cylindrical column D45x1x545 mm with slenderness ratio Lambda= 35 as well as the critical compressive stresses depending on the cross-section areas A and slenderness ratios Lambda are presented as the theoretical examples with the new assumptions and compared to results obtained from experiments with thin-walled cylindrical columns made of steel St35.","PeriodicalId":174568,"journal":{"name":"Scholar Freedom Pty Ltd","volume":"24 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120843164","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this essay the author reflects on three key pillars which have most supported her own learning process through an undergraduate subject studied at Ikon Institute, while also making connections to how these pillars served as foundational to the author’s capacity to be with her own growth and therapeutic healing process – a process which is hypothesised to be is deeply intertwined with the adult individual’s capacity to learn. The essay synthesises several key concepts and related themes (nervous system regulation, metacognition, and deep listening) within mental health fields and therapeutic practice and presents a coherent exploration of how these concepts intertwine to best support the learning process.","PeriodicalId":174568,"journal":{"name":"Scholar Freedom Pty Ltd","volume":"80 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120922139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, belief of the myth that most perpetrators are strangers may be higher in ethnic minority communities because of collectivist norms that view extended family as primary providers of child safety, maintained by prohibitive social norms discussing any sexual matters to protect female and family honour. A program addressing these issues was delivered across Australia and evaluated over six months using a mixed-methods design. The results show that the program fulfilled its intention, with service providers more deeply engaging with this possible cross-cultural difference. They also show the program: safely allows white practitioners to acknowledge their awareness of this possible difference; eases judgment of this difference among ethnic minority practitioners in light of the multiple oppressions migrant communities negotiate; and raises attunement among all practitioners to ‘quiet’ child-safe parenting that may be occurring to help ensure risk-of-harm assessments are more accurate. Overall, there appears a need for persistent national awareness-raising campaigns against the myth of ‘stranger danger’ because this myth serves a protective function in all cultures (to greater or lesser extents) about perceptions of where children are/are not safe.","PeriodicalId":174568,"journal":{"name":"Scholar Freedom Pty Ltd","volume":"190 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131946680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper reports findings regarding ‘professional omnipotence’. At T1 82% and T2 71% of ‘talk therapists’ do not believe all mental illnesses can be treated with formal services, so are using professional power responsibly – without enabling false hope that formal services ‘can fix everything’. This attitude was independent of cultural background, but somewhat related to age and work experience. Although a strongly held view, the proportion did decrease suggesting the program nevertheless affirmed the utility of formal services. Practitioners who do believe all mental illnesses can be treated with formal services view this as a trauma-informed hope-inspiring approach. Approximately a third of service providers suggest additional self-help strategies but appear reluctant to suggest additional family and group therapy, likely reflecting practice wisdom – that group-based help may increase risk of harm rather than empower clients. The results contribute new and innovative empirical data, peer into the contradictions and complexities of ‘trauma-informed’ practice, and provide suggestions for future research on how professional power can be used responsibly with this highly marginalised group.","PeriodicalId":174568,"journal":{"name":"Scholar Freedom Pty Ltd","volume":"122 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133079213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper reports the findings in relation to working with interpreters. It was found that many practitioners are unable to use only trained interpreters due to resource and organisational policy constraints; there is desire and intention among service organisations to provide such training to interpreters but low funding limits this; pre- and de-briefing were comparatively more common but still inconsistent due to specific client needs, the individual practitioner, and whether organisational policies expect these practices; and the four examined practices were higher among ethnic minority practitioners and in organisations specialised for ethnic minorities. Overall, there was insufficient evidence the program was effective in improving these four practices; likely reflecting a combination of sector-wide resource constraints and insufficient coverage of working well with interpreters within the program’s full content. The results still contribute plentiful ideas for future research. Importantly, the updated online version of the CPD program responded by developing a dedicated module to this critical practice area.","PeriodicalId":174568,"journal":{"name":"Scholar Freedom Pty Ltd","volume":"135 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125074922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To address this, an education/training program was developed, delivered, and evaluated in Australia over six months using mixed-methods (T1 n=112, T2 n=44). At T1 and T2, hardly any participants thought a sociological approach – which squarely names sexism – was not useful or effective. However, they were mostly social workers and counsellors, and therefore centrally aware of social justice issues. Replication with medical practitioners is required to see how findings compare. The results also speak of ethnic minority practitioners becoming feminists against highly valued traditional gender roles in collectivist cultures, and of Anglo practitioners not judging highly patriarchal societies to demonstrate respect for difference. The results contribute new and innovative data, including about practitioners’ commitment to social justice when faced with forced choice questions about it. This study provides a platform for future participatory research with victims/survivors and medicos, so patriarchy outside the clinical context is held to professional account and not repeated within it.","PeriodicalId":174568,"journal":{"name":"Scholar Freedom Pty Ltd","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132579270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the many barriers to disclosure including cultural and racial factors for ethnic minorities mean that prevalence data needs to be regarded with caution. A program addressing this need was delivered across Australia in 2019 and evaluated over six months using mixed-methods (T1 n=112; T2 n=44). It found that practitioners (social workers, counsellors, psychologists) already have a ‘healthy distrust’ of the numbers, and the program seemed to increase this. Overall, caution in the clinical setting is important for mitigating racism, but the positivist research and policy landscape may need to question its trust of ‘objective’ numeric data, else it could further perpetuate risk of systemic harm. The child’s right to safety regardless of cultural background is seen to provide the impetus to address CSA, not the apparent size of the problem.","PeriodicalId":174568,"journal":{"name":"Scholar Freedom Pty Ltd","volume":"226 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115277592","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
