Furthermore, it aims to indicate how company’s operations are impacted in the long term. The article has a theoretical and empirical character. It presents the results of empirical research conducted in the third quarter of 2022 at Geis Global Logistics. Here we look to answer three research questions concerning the problems and challenges resulting from the pandemic and geopolitical crisis, their role in creating new development opportunities for the company, and defining key logistics and supply chain strategies to maintain its competitiveness in a turbulent environment. The results show the actions taken by the Transport Forwarding Logistics (TFL) industry entity to survive and be competitive in the market, i.e., building resilience through the ability to absorb, react, and rebuild after disruptions.\u0000 ","PeriodicalId":174019,"journal":{"name":"Zeszyty Naukowe UPH seria Administracja i Zarządzanie","volume":"9 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140739197","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a consequence of the research objective formulated in this way, it was decided to use a literature review, analysis of secondary documents, and a case study method. As part of the case study, in-depth interviews were conducted with the SPV manager and its stakeholders. The literature review concerned the constrictions in the development of the cooperation between science and business on the part of both entrepreneurs and scientists, which consequently translates into barriers in the development of units created to commercialise the results of scientific research created in universities and research institutes, including SPVs. On the basis of the collected research material, barriers to SPV development were defined and then grouped according to the type of constraints (systemic, economic, competence, awareness-cultural) and according to the environment they directly affect (SPVs, scientists, entrepreneurs). In response to the barriers to SPVs development, actions have been proposed to overcome them. The originality of the article stems from the development of the issue of the functioning of SPVs, whose role and capabilities are little understood in both academic and business circles.","PeriodicalId":174019,"journal":{"name":"Zeszyty Naukowe UPH seria Administracja i Zarządzanie","volume":"26 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140738797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first part of the paper presents the validity and possibility of managing safety in relation to the definition of management and safety. In that context, the thesis was justified that the task of the state, as an organization, is to properly direct and dispose of the resources it has an influence over in order to ensure the highest possible level of security and eliminate its threats. The second part presents arguments for the need to create a tool for managing socio-economic security at the regional level. The importance of such a tool for making decisions regarding socio-economic policy and management practice at both the strategic and operational level was emphasized. Then, a multifactorial model of the system for diagnosing and forecasting socio-economic security of Polish regions was presented in terms of its contribution to the achievements of two scientific disciplines, and its practical application. Next, the possibilities and limitations in the construction of the model and its practical application as a management tool were presented.","PeriodicalId":174019,"journal":{"name":"Zeszyty Naukowe UPH seria Administracja i Zarządzanie","volume":"33 S1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140738466","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Multiculturalism is not only a common feature of companies which operate in the global market but also increasingly a key factor when it comes to people management. Although cultural diversity can bring many positive effects, it can also be a source of a range of problems. Thus it is so important for managers of culturally diverse teams to understand the essence of multiculturalism, to be able to manage cultural diversity skilfully, and to endorse values and adhere to principles which are highly relevant in multicultural work environments. The study presented in the article (individual in-depth interviews) was conducted among managers from six European countries. The main aim of the study was to identify challenges posed by multicultural work environments based on the opinions of managers who work with multicultural teams. The theoretical part of the article explains the concept of multiculturalism and presents multiculturalism in the context of management in contemporary work environments. The empirical part discusses the results of the interviews and the resulting conclusions. Undoubtedly, multiculturalism poses numerous challenges to managers in the area of people management, and the results of the study have confirmed that managers face considerable challenges in multicultural work environments (especially in the areas regarding managers’ factual knowledge on and preparation for the management of teams, the level of their cultural intelligence, communication, and employee motivation).","PeriodicalId":174019,"journal":{"name":"Zeszyty Naukowe UPH seria Administracja i Zarządzanie","volume":"67 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139154032","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

INSURANCE SALES IN POLAND","authors":"Monika Niedziółka","doi":"10.34739/zn.2023.60.07","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.34739/zn.2023.60.07","url":null,"abstract":"The insurance market world-wide is developing dynamically. New products are being created, but current offers are also being improved; albeit they come with new areas of responsibility. Changes in the market and insurance products are also visible in Poland. Although they are not so dynamic as in the countries of Western Europe, an increase in sales of mainly non-life insurance has been noted year on year. That said, the dynamics of these changes is much lower than in other European countries; as is the expenditure on insurance. So the question arises, what is the cause of this situation? Could it be due to low insurance awareness? Insurance awareness is not only defined in the work as the state of knowledge of the insurance company’s client, but also as the ability to find and use this knowledge and information, to choose a product consciously, to assess this product properly, and the ability to make independent decisions based on objective information, and not subjective opinions and views. The article attempts to assess insurance awareness and the factors that define and influence the same. The work uses the available bibliography, statistical data from the Central Statistical Office, as well as the data from the Polish Chamber of Insurance and the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. An original survey was also conducted, and its results are presented in the last part of the article. As a result of the study, it turned out that insurance sales in Poland are growing. If only on this basis, insurance awareness is assessed, it can be said that the sales are also growing year on year. The respondents of the conducted survey highly assessed their knowledge of the insurance market and products. Unfortunately, the verification of their actual knowledge did not confirm this self-assessment. The average grade was only “satisfactory”; if we followed school grades. The dominant sources of information on insurance, apart from the knowledge of insurance agents, are, primarily, the Internet, as well as friends and family. These sources cannot be treated as fully objective.","PeriodicalId":174019,"journal":{"name":"Zeszyty Naukowe UPH seria Administracja i Zarządzanie","volume":"70 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139154323","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article discusses, among others, the advantages of e-commerce, and the approaches towards its service. It also considers the dynamics of e-commerce development in Poland and Ukraine in recent years, the positive consequences of e-commerce expansion in terms of trade turnover, as well as the range of goods and services; and, in turn, the development of online stores. The authors, after analysing the source materials relating to the e-commerce sector in these neighbouring countries, state that on-line trade has a demand among people and that there are prospects for further development; and this despite the challenging situation related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. According to presented assessments, the importance of online shopping in Poland is increasing, online shopping is gaining new customers in various age groups, the openness of Polish e-customers to cross-border shopping is growing and more and more sellers are deciding to sell online. In Ukraine online trade is gaining momentum and its development has created the conditions for Ukrainian enterprises to integrate with the European digital space. The article proposes alternative ways for improving normative regulation in terms of the development of e-commerce in Ukraine under the conditions of compliance with fair competition. Polish and Ukrainian e-commerce market faces a number of challenges and tasks and their implementation will enable the achievement of higher global standards.","PeriodicalId":174019,"journal":{"name":"Zeszyty Naukowe UPH seria Administracja i Zarządzanie","volume":"23 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139154225","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research methods used are: a literature review, and a quantitative analysis of CSO data on 13 specific indicators of municipalities (counties) on: climate change, air and groundwater protection, land use, biodiversity and waste management and qualitative analysis. The research examines the results of environmental management in municipalities in different parts of the world and on the territory of Polish municipalities (districts) of varying wealth. A comparative analysis of the management activity of municipalities (counties) in three groups of Polish local governments: the most wealthy, medium wealthy and least wealthy has been carried out. The study shows a higher intensity of pro-environmental activities among the more prosperous municipalities. The available CSO data are also insufficient to comprehensively assess the multi-faceted activity of municipalities in environmental management. The current priorities of local authorities and the natural conditions of the municipality due to its location are also important. It is recommended to increase the activity of municipal authorities, especially less wealthy ones, in environmental management, and to increase the activity of all municipalities in the legal protection of environmentally valuable areas and in the creation of biodiversity.","PeriodicalId":174019,"journal":{"name":"Zeszyty Naukowe UPH seria Administracja i Zarządzanie","volume":"43 15","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138588565","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, more efficient construction methods should be sought. One of them is considered to be modern prefabrication. The article aims to check whether Polish developers operating in the housing market use modern prefabrication to improve the construction process and what the economic benefits of using this technology can be achieved. Using desk research and case-study methods, the author has demonstrated that prefabrication in Polish multi-family housing is not yet popular, but it seems necessary to promote it because of its rather positive impact on real estate development activity in the housing market, which is manifested mainly in shorter project implementation times.","PeriodicalId":174019,"journal":{"name":"Zeszyty Naukowe UPH seria Administracja i Zarządzanie","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127935794","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
