The medical reports produced during these visits often include valuable knowledge in the form of free text. To help physician access and review this knowledge, natural language processing and aggregation techniques are needed. In this work, we propose a system that extracts and summarizes information from medical reports written in Italian. For each patient, the system builds and visualizes a timeline of the extracted events. The proposed approach has the potential to enhance the process of reviewing patient clinical histories, reducing the time needed to access large amounts of data. In the future, an extension of the visualized timeline and an extrinsic evaluation will be performed.","PeriodicalId":173474,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 3rd International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116908765","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thanks to their numerous benefits, in recent years the interest on this type of systems has greatly increased, especially for electric vehicle charging applications. In this paper we will address the design of a contactless charging system for electric bicycles. In particular, based on a market survey, the specifications for the desired contactless charging system are derived and the dimensioning of the power converters is carried out. Two different coil geometries are taken into consideration in order to compare them in terms of weight, encumbrance and efficiency. The designed energy transfer system is then simulated by means of a finite integration technique software, in order to verify the correctness and robustness of the proposed charging system.","PeriodicalId":173474,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 3rd International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115586643","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can be accomplished along paths of nanomagnets, following the paradigm of the so-called nanomagnetic logic. When the clocking of nanomagnets is obtained by means of spin-Hall effect, interesting magnetization configurations are revealed by micromagnetic simulations. In this work, we show details of the non-uniform states that can be excited in a perpendicular nanomagnet for applications in nanomagnetic logic.","PeriodicalId":173474,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 3rd International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116265052","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In fact, this knowledge may have an important role in the support of clinical decision in the daily clinical practice. In the context of cardiovascular disease (the lead cause of death worldwide), it is critical to identify the risk of a patient suffering from a cardiovascular event. This allows to stratify patients according to their risk and to decide on the best patients' treatment. This work compares an innovative data driven approach based on a clustering strategy with some well-known classifiers (decision trees, discriminant analysis and neural networks). This assessment is based not only on the performance but also on the interpretability. This study was applied to patients that were admitted to the emergency service with a first event of myocardial infarction. It is supported by a real patients' dataset with Acute Coronary Syndromes, provided by the Portuguese Society of Cardiology considering the risk of death within 30 days. The validation of this work was performed based on three different metrics: sensitivity, specificity and geometric mean. The obtained results showed that the performance of the proposed clustering approach is comparable to the best classifiers while maintaining the interpretability aspects. Namely, it provided a very well balanced classifier obtaining a geometric mean value of 79%).","PeriodicalId":173474,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 3rd International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122031703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Knowledge of AED distribution on a specific territory is functional to potentially provide immediate assistance while waiting for ambulance arrival. Our aim was to apply a health geomatic framework to map CAs occurred in Lombardy region in Italy along the year 2015, and known AED locations to retrospectively obtain new information that could be used to optimize AED placement over the considered territory. Results showed 10686 CAs and 6212 AED in all Lombardy region, with CA incidence in the range 0.7–1.27% and AED availability in the range 0.4–1.24% of inhabitants in the 15 healthcare districts in which Lombardy was divided. For the city of Milan, connected points reached within the same time (i.e., isochrones) were created starting from the position of each known AED and considering the distance traveled in a 6 min roundtrip at different walk speeds, showing 14% of potential territory coverage. A retrospective analysis of the 4005 CAs occurred in 2015 in the city of Milan showed that, despite an AED was within a 3-min range of a CA in 55% of the cases, only in less than 2% an AED was utilized. Health geomatics approaches provide new ways to look at existing information that could be used in decision-making processes to guide resources distribution on the Lombardy territory, while improving CA emergency care.","PeriodicalId":173474,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 3rd International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124684195","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For such reason, a considerable interest towards innovative approaches useful to provide information on their evolution and on the interaction with existing buildings has grown among the scientific community and land management institutions. To this purpose, the combined use of C-band satellites and X-band Synthetic Aperture Radar sensors, has been successfully applied in several analyses aimed at the detection of spatial and temporal effects, in term of building's damage induced by landslides. This work provides a general approach useful to investigate, at different levels of detail, the cause-effect relationship. The proposed methodology has been applied to the urban settlement of Moio della Civitella (Salerno province, Italy), whose whole territory is affected by several slow-moving landslides. C and X-band SAR data (acquired between 2002 and 2014), integrated with field survey of structural damage, enhanced an accurate examination of landslide effects on the urban texture of Moio della Civitella. The results allowed to generate empirical fragility curves for buildings on the study area. These curves can be used as a tool to forecast the future likelihood of the damage occurrence. Finally, the behavior of a masonry building aggregate has been assessed analyzing Differential Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (DInSAR) time-series pre- and post-repair intervention, thus providing information also about the efficacy of restoration works.","PeriodicalId":173474,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 3rd International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"139 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116629144","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper introduces City4Age, a European Horizon 2020 project, the mission of which is to create a robust, flexible, and extensible framework for the prevention of MCI/Frailty in elderly people — MCI standing for Mild Cognitive Impairment. The specific focus of the paper is on “intervention” as designed and enacted within the project: a set of highly personalized communication actions meant to suggest a healthier life-style to elderly people, also (but not only) based on their personal data regarding the main geriatric factors that are considered “indicators” of possible decay. To face this need, the MoveCare Project develops and field-tests an innovative multi-actor platform that integrates a robotic system with environmental sensors, smart objects, a virtual community and an activity center to provide assistance, transparent monitoring and activities to the elder at home. The newness of MoveCare consists in the design of a transparent monitoring and in its social and overarching nature that envisages the cooperation of multiple actors to implement a well-accepted, personalized, and engaging platform to hinder decline in independent elderly users. This work illustrates the rationale and the implementation of transparent physical monitoring during the execution of balancetraining exergames tailored to the user performance. Different game modalities, such as playing alone, in competition, or collaboration with other elders of the virtual community will be available. Real-time and offline indicators will be extracted and analyzed to keep track of the user's profile with the aim of preventing physical and social decline.","PeriodicalId":173474,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 3rd International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127091476","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is clear how essential is to redirect or modify the well-established economic and social practices in order to achieve the desired objective of wealth and efficiency by investing in the innovation, differentiation and conversion of products and production processes, using an increasingly green approach, is likely to be the best solution for relaunching sustainable development. The smart city paradigm can be successfully extended to wider areas related by socio-economical homogeneity bringing to the smart-land concept. In this paper it is proposed an integrated and intermodal methodology for the development of smart mobility systems that combine technological innovation in electric transportations and mobility services aimed at integrating the strategies of the public transportation with the benefits of the individual one. The main focus of this methodology is to create an integrated mobility network that allow a transition toward a sustainable form of tourism. The coordination of different kind of services and infrastructures like transport services, information and communication infrastructure, energy infrastructure in a related platform aims to develop a smart system integrated in local ecosystem. The support of sensoring system, able to measure a set of indicators, and geographic information system platform allow to fix specific goals, supporting the urban and territorial planning process and monitoring the project status and results. This methodology represents the starting point for a spatial, relational and institutional reorganization process that would lead to a change in the production and management dynamics of the local ecosystem concerning tourism issues.","PeriodicalId":173474,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 3rd International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133371451","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the other hand, the development of traffic control towards on-line measurement of cooperative aspects between humans and machines, is part of the more general need to measure the human agents “situation awareness” in industrial environment. The University of Modena and Reggio Emilia was partner of the European Artemis project “Designing Dynamic Distributed Cooperative Human-Machine Systems” (D3CoS 2011–2014) [1] to define affordable methods, techniques and tools addressing the specification, development and evaluation of cooperative systems where human and machine agents are in charge of common tasks, assigned to the system as a whole. One of the basic keys to reach an optimal human-machine cooperation is the measure of the human operator workload. In order to setup a possible method for the objective evaluation of cognitive workload we had to investigate aspects of the functional status of human operators interacting with a simulator in maritime domains. We recorded objective psycho-physiological measures: eye blinks, respiration rate and amplitude, electrodermal activity, heart rate variability, and blood pressure. They were analyzed and correlated with subjective self-assessed responses from two questionnaires: NASA-TLX and Rating Scale Mental Effort (RSME), with the aim to realize a mathematical model for classifying the operators' mental workload. The purpose of this paper is to present the methods, applied on a pilot study, that we carried out to discriminate the WL intensity, based on psycho-physiological signals alone.","PeriodicalId":173474,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 3rd International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133646051","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
