The fabricated Ag/CuPc/n-GaAs/Ag sensor was carried through an ageing process to stabilize the parameters. Voltage-current characteristics and photoelectrical response of the sensor were investigated at a wide temperature interval of 82 K to 350 K. Photoelectric characteristics were measured under nonmodulated filament-lamp illumination. It was observed that sensor parameters such as: rectification ratio; threshold voltage; junction, shunt and series resistances; open-circuit voltage and short circuit current are temperature dependent. It was found that wide-range voltage-current characteristics of the sensor may be described similar to that of a Schottky barrier diode. Using the experimental data on voltage-current characteristics and absorbance of the CuPc films the energy-band diagram of the p-CuPc/n-GaAs heterojunction was developed. It was shown that data obtained from simulation of an equivalent circuit of photoelectric sensor agreed with experimental results.","PeriodicalId":171255,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE International Multitopic Conference","volume":"57 9","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120899459","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The position and velocities are the major inputs to the controller. The appropriately chosen sliding surfaces isin R6, composed of system states vectors, proper choice of reachability gains drive the system to stable manifold and then slide it to an equilibrium point. It leads us to a control law which clearly deals with nominal performance and robust stability. The resulting dynamic feedback is shown to provide chatter-free control. The controller is based on generalized Lyapunov approach and guarantees global asymptotic and exponential convergence. The control performance of the proposed algorithm is verified by computer simulations. These simulations show that system follows the desired trajectory and errors efficiently converged to zero.","PeriodicalId":171255,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE International Multitopic Conference","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128776035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Motion segmentation is challenging because of the large amounts of data to be processed and the real-time requirements of the applications. The k-means clustering algorithm has often been used for motion segmentation. However, the k-means algorithm is computationally expensive and requires prior knowledge of the number of clusters. In this paper, we present an approach for motion segmentation based on the incremental hierarchical clustering algorithm BIRCH. BIRCH is scalable and efficient because it processes data incrementally and is more accurate because it does not require prior knowledge of clusters. We describe our experiments using video from a Web cam and compare the performance of BIRCH and k-means clustering for motion segmentation. Our results confirm that our approach is more accurate and efficient as compared to the k-means based approach.","PeriodicalId":171255,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE International Multitopic Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129034306","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When the environment consists of obstacles, path planning is to find a collision free path for mobile robot to move from starting position to the target location. This path planning should be optimal or must be near-optimal with respect to time, distance or energy. But distance is the most commonly adopted criterion. In this paper a new approach for the representation of dynamic environment has been presented. The integration of stationary and moving obstacles is the new work presented in this paper. Uncertainty in environment estimation has been taken into account by the probabilistic reasoning technique. Occupancy or risk of the probabilistic grid representation has been estimated for each cell using sensor data.","PeriodicalId":171255,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE International Multitopic Conference","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114245431","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We present the performance analysis of a queuing network having multiple chains of customers, using classical queuing networks theory. We only determine the performance evaluation of elastic data transfers in cellular networks. Hence all the chains are assumed to be closed chains. The state probabilities for the closed chains are obtained using multidimensional convolution algorithm and hence the performance measures are calculated which includes sojourn time and average number of customers at all nodes.","PeriodicalId":171255,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE International Multitopic Conference","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122451480","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The presented technique first normalizes an input image by removing affine distortions using independent component analysis which also reduces the effect of noise introduced during contour parameterization. Then two invariant functionals are constructed, one using the normalized object contour and the other using the dyadic wavelet transform. Experimental results conducted using three different standard datasets confirm the validity of the proposed approach. Beside this the error rates obtained in terms of invariant stability are significantly lower when compared to other wavelet based techniques and the proposed invariants exhibit higher feature disparity than the method of Fourier descriptors.","PeriodicalId":171255,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE International Multitopic Conference","volume":"122 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115760955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we present a layout analysis system for extracting text-lines in reading order from Urdu document images. For this purpose, we evaluate an existing system for Roman script text on Urdu documents and describe its methods and the main changes necessary to adapt it to Urdu script. The main changes are: 1) the text-line model for Roman script is modified to adapt to Urdu text, 2) reading order of an Urdu document is defined. The method is applied to a collection of scanned Urdu documents from various books, magazines, and newspapers. The results show high text-line detection accuracy on scanned images of Urdu prose and poetry books and magazines. The algorithm also works reasonably well on newspaper images. We also identify directions for future work which may further improve the accuracy of the system.","PeriodicalId":171255,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE International Multitopic Conference","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116294753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We use DSDV routing protocols to evaluate the performance of TCP & UDP over wired cum wireless LAN. We use Network Simulator-2 with different parameters, generating different speeds of mobile nodes and different link capacity (bandwidth) with same packet size in every scenario.
