Fourteen soil profiles represented the area where soil samples were collected layer-wise from each. Samples were prepared and analyzed for their physico-chemical and fertility parameters using standard methods of analysis. Soil data were put in models of current and future productivity estimation. Results revealed that, study area was deep (<100cm), well drained, coarse textured, slightly to moderately calcareous (CaCO 3 =4.96% to 11.05%), slightly alkaline (pH=8.06 to 8.37), slightly to moderately saline (EC e =1.16 to 7.00 dS.m -1 ), with low moisture (>5%), organic matter (0.27% to 0.92%), and cation exchange capacity (4.7 to 15.7 cmol(+) kg -1 ). Soils were low to medium in total nitrogen (161 to 533 mg.kg -1 ), low to medium in available phosphorus (3.21 to 8.12 mg.kg -1 ) and low in available potassium (127 to 195 mg kg -1 ), available micronutrients varied between deficient and adequate for cropping requirements. The current productivity situation is extremely poor due to low agricultural activities and poverty in soil content of moisture, organic materials and clay fractions. Improvement processes should be followed such as organic fertilizers addition and dredged clay materials to the soil surface layer for enhancing the land productivity by about 15 to 17 times. The integration of soil surveying, sampling, analysis, and productivity estimation found to be an effective tool for predicting land productivity. These data can be utilized for better land use management, planning for land reclamation, and improving the agricultural productivity.","PeriodicalId":17094,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Soil Sciences and Agricultural Engineering","volume":"18 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75421767","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study, using two cereal crops (wheat and barley) to study the effect of compost as a source of organic matter and nano- hydroxyapatite as a source of phosphorus onsome properties of calcareous soil and P content in plants. The main plots were compost (C) with three doses C 0 (without C), C 1 (12 ton/ha) and C 2 (24 ton/ha), the sub plots were different sources of phosphorous [the traditional P CaH 6 O 8 P 2 (S 0 ) and nano-hydroxyapatite (nHAP) with two rates of S 1 (1.5 g/L) and S 2 (3 g/L)]. The nano-hydroxyapatite is characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (X-ray), scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Obtained results stated that the biological yield, grain and straw of both wheat and barley were significantly increased with treatments as compared to C 0 and S 0 , especially with C 2 and S 2 . In addition, there is a positive trend between treatments rate and P contentin straw and grain of both crops, the maximum increase was observed with C 2 and S 2 .Also, the application of compost led to a change in soil chemical properties, pH wasdecreased at treatments applied and such decreases were proportional to treatments concentration increase. An opposite trend was observed with organic matter (OM) and available phosphorus. In addition, there is a positive and highly significant correlation between grain yield with P content in plants.","PeriodicalId":17094,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Soil Sciences and Agricultural Engineering","volume":"35 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81406002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After soaking the seeds for 3 hours in a nano-silica suspension, seedlings with a length of 15 cm in the greenhouse were sprayed with various NaSiPs concentrations (0, 100, 200, and 400 mg L -1 ). When the plant reached 30 cm in length, the various shock treatments were applied. At harvest, some vegetative parameters were determined as well as chemical analysis of plants (root, leaves , and fruits). The results confirmed that NaSiPs were effective in reducing the negative effects of various shocks on plant biometrics, chlorophyll, and fruit yield. The findings revealed that there were no significant effects of the two-way interaction between shock treatments and nanosilica rates on the plant biometrics, chlorophyll, and fruit yield. The concentrations of sodium and potassium in roots, leaves, and fruits, as well as silicon and proline in roots and leaves, were found to have the same effects. Except for Na and K in fruits and leaves, all parameters studied increased with increasing nano-silica rates, with the exception of fruit sodium and leaf potassium concentration. The shocks had the following order: control > salinity > frost > dryness > heat. SiNP400 treatment of plants reduced the negative effects of various shocks.","PeriodicalId":17094,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Soil Sciences and Agricultural Engineering","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82953421","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is an innovative, sustainable technology and environmentally friendly. The main objectives of this study are to evaluate the growth performance of Nile tilapia under the aquaponic system for a period of 42 days and to examine the effect of system type (aquaponic and hydroponic systems) and water flow rate of (0.5, 1.5 and 2.5 L/min) on the growth performance of lettuce plants grown in deep water culture technique (DWC) and nutrient film technique (NFT). The obtained results for fish indicated that fish weight, fish length and feed conversion ratio (FCR) were increased during the experimental periods. The results obtained for lettuce plants indicated that root length of the lettuce gradually increased with increasing water flow rates and growth period. the root growth rate was higher in aquaponic system than in hydroponic system. The nutrients consumption rate, water use efficiency and lettuce yield were increased with an increase in the water flow rate from 0.5 to 1.5 L/min and a decrease in the water flow rate from 1.5 to 2.5 L/min. The former parameters were higher in the hydroponic system than in the aquaponic system except for the rate of sodium consumption.
