Therefore, field experiments were conducted in two successive winter sessions during 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 at Sakha Agricultural Research Station Farm, Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, Egypt. This research was carried out to study the effect of irrigation number/season ie. using only sowing irrigation (I 1 ), sowing irrigation+ one irrigation (I 2 ) and sowing irrigation+ two irrigations (I 3 ) and application of some soil amendments (zeolite and compost) and their combinations on some soil properties, some water relations and yield of barley ( Hordeum vulgare L. ) Giza 2000. Results showed that the values of seasonal water applied, actual consumptive use (CU) out of two seasons took the following descending order: I 3 > I 2 > I 1 . While, I 1 gave the highest values of water productivity (WP), and irrigation water productivity (IWP). The plots that received sowing irrigation+ two irrigations (I 3 ) with zeolite+compost showed a pronounced improvement of soil salinity (ECe), Exchangeable sodium percentage (ESP), soil bulk density (BD), soil basic infiltration rate (IR), and yield and its components of barley. The application of zeolite and compost alleviated the adverse effect of drought on soil properties and barley productivity.","PeriodicalId":17094,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Soil Sciences and Agricultural Engineering","volume":"46 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86856155","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The quail eggs of length, diameter, mean value diameter, volume, sphericity, mass, shape index, packaging coefficient of eggs, shell mass, and shell thickness were identified. The static friction coefficients between quail eggs surfaces and rubber, plywood, plastic, and cardboard surfaces were measured. The mechanical Behavior of quail eggs was investigated in terms of average rupture force, deformation, and absorbed energy. The egg tests' X axis and Z axis were crammed. The following measurements and calculations for quail eggs of length and diameter, sphericity, mean diameter, surface area, egg mass, volume and packaging coefficient and egg shells of thickness, and mass were: 32.66 mm, 25.86 mm 85.61 %, 27.94 mm, 2455 mm 2 , 11.74 g, 11464 mm 3 , 0.439, 0.24 mm and 1.342 g respectively. The coefficients of friction on rubber, plywood, plastic, and cardboard surfaces were 0.47, 0.33, 0.37, and 0.45, respectively. The rubber surface had the most friction, followed by cardboard, plastic, and plywood. When quail eggs were loaded along the X-axis, the greatest rupture force, absorbed energy, and deformation were obtained. Compression along the Z-axis required the most un-compressive power to break the eggs compared to the X-front pressure axis. Lead, as a potentially toxic element, is one of the most dangerous potentially toxic elements that have to be eliminated from contaminated water resources. Bio-sorbents, like macroalgae (seaweeds) have been recently investigated for removing toxic elements from water. It is hypothesized that mixing seaweeds with nanoparticles (e.g. iron oxide) might improve removal efficiency of Pb ions. In this study seaweeds, iron oxide nanoparticles and their composite were used for lead removal from contaminated water with up to 50.0 mg L.. The results showed that all sorbents under investigation were successful for Pb sorption, and the engineered composite was superior with removal efficiency of 91%. In addition, the engineered composite showed an ease of separation following sorption process using a magnet. Freundlich isotherm model was the best for describing the adsorption of Pb onto the sorbents material under this investigation. This study is a step on the way to improve the separation of bio sorbents from aqueous solutions after the removal of contaminants.","PeriodicalId":17094,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Soil Sciences and Agricultural Engineering","volume":"14 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78992341","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Pinkerton avocado trees were used in this study. The study aims to demonstrate the effect of water addition using drip irrigation, micro-sprinkler, and (drip irrigation and microsprinkler together) on the active root distribution of avocado trees. Active roots were recorded per square centimeter during the spring season of each year within 200 cm of the avocado tree stem from the four surrounding trees under each of the three irrigation systems. The results showed that the best distribution of active roots/cm was achieved under the drip and micro-sprinkler systems together, followed by micro-sprinkler irrigation, and finally drip irrigation. The distribution of active roots /cm for both drip irrigation and micro-sprinkler irrigation together and drip irrigation to a distance of 90 cm from the avocado tree trunk from the four different sides was equaled, followed by micro-sprinkler irrigation. On the other hand, there are no active roots in the distance from 120 cm to 200 cm of the trunk under drip irrigation in the direction of east and west of the trunk of avocado trees. Finally, the best distribution of the active roots of the avocado trees was under the combination of the drip and micro-sprinkler irrigation systems together, which positively affected the productivity of avocado trees compared to both drip irrigation and micro-sprinkler irrigation alone.","PeriodicalId":17094,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Soil Sciences and Agricultural Engineering","volume":"10 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75783331","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Irrigation as m/fed were 1652, 2203 and 2754 in the first season but were 1555, 2074 and 2592 in the second one as 60, 80 and 100 % of ETc. respectively. Higher availabilityof N, P, K, Fe, Mn and Zn occurred in farmyard manuredsoils under irrigation rates comparing with other organic amendments. Increasingirrigation water increased available N and Mn in the soil, but was not significant for P, K, Fe and Zn. All used organic amendments caused a significant increase in growth parameters and productivity. The highest growth parameters and productivity were associatedwith composttreatment with all rates of irrigation compared with other treatments of organic amendments. Growth parameters were notaffectedbyirrigation ratesexcept for branched plants. The interaction between irrigation rates and organic amendments were significant for growth parameters. Adding organic amendments with and without irrigation water rates increased N, P, K, Fe, Mn and Zn concentrations in the seeds, while the high increases were found with compost combined with different rates comparing with other treatments of organic amendments. The effect of irrigation rates on nutrients concentration in the seeds was not significant except when organic amendments was applied.","PeriodicalId":17094,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Soil Sciences and Agricultural Engineering","volume":"24 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73381507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Then a detailed study was conducted to include physical and chemical properties of the soil samples as well as a quantitative specific adsorption of copper and zinc experiments were carried out. Percentage of soil organic matter ranged from 0.2% to 3.6%. Soil texture varies from silt to heavy clay. Percentage of calcium carbonate ranged from 1.3 to7.5 %. Soil pH values ranged from 7.5 to 9.7. Soil salinity varied from non-saline to saline, with salinity ranging from 1.4 to 32.7 dS.m -1 . CEC values ranged from 10.8 to 52.5 cmokg -1 soil. The specific adsorption of copper and zinc ions in presence of sodium as a monovalent cation was higher than that of calcium as a divalent cation. It was also found that the higher the concentration of the added ions, the higher the specific adsorption for Cu 2+ and Zn 2+ , which can be represeted by a straight line equation. The specific adsorption of copper and zinc in the surface soil samples was higher than that in the subsurface soil samples due to the roll of the soil organic matter.","PeriodicalId":17094,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Soil Sciences and Agricultural Engineering","volume":"35 1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88135652","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
