Violation waiting duration was collected by video cameras and it was assigned as censored and uncensored data to distinguish between normal crossing and violating crossing. A proportional hazard-based duration model was introduced, and variables revealing personal characteristics and traffic conditions were defined as covariates to describe the effects of internal and external factors. Empirical results show that the street-crossing behavior of cyclists was time dependent. Cyclists' crossing behavior represented positive duration dependence that the longer the waiting time elapsed the more likely cyclists would end the wait soon. The violation inclination of most cyclists increased with the increasing waiting duration but about 55% of cyclists were at high risk of violation to cross the street. About 5% of all the cyclists can obey the traffic rules after waiting for 51 seconds. The human factors and external environment played an important role in cyclists' violation behavior. Minimizing the effects of unfavorable condition in traffic planning and designing may be an effective measure to enhance traffic safety.","PeriodicalId":170543,"journal":{"name":"2012 Fifth International Joint Conference on Computational Sciences and Optimization","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130756582","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It involves many kinds of influencing factors and it's also a nonlinear process. The model of attitude motion control is very important for the accuracy control and self adapting predictive control. For establishing the attitude motion model and predicting the attitude, SVM algorithm was used to construct a MIMO identifier in this paper. Moreover, in order to improve the effect of the identification and prediction, the grid search method was adopted to optimize the key parameter C and g in SVM. At last the effects were contrasted with GA and PSO optimized SVM algorithm by the data from the experiments in the pool, the results proved the superiority of grid search method in both calculating time and optimizing results. The results show the well performance of this GS-SVM on the identification and prediction for the attitude of dish-like underwater robot.","PeriodicalId":170543,"journal":{"name":"2012 Fifth International Joint Conference on Computational Sciences and Optimization","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131326027","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this process, each coil subjects to a long heat-treatment cycle by varying the temperature within furnace (machine) and cooler (machine) which are operated by crane orderly. The objective is to minimize the annealing completion time of the last coil (make span). We propose a two-phase heuristic algorithm which consists of assignment and scheduling. Based on a dynamic programming, the assignment phase is to assign each crane to its exclusive sub-block, followed by machine assignment to each sub-block. Scheduling phase adopts an earliest requirement operated stage first strategy. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is theoretically analyzed from an absolute performance point of view.","PeriodicalId":170543,"journal":{"name":"2012 Fifth International Joint Conference on Computational Sciences and Optimization","volume":"193 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132166598","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
