The site featured 1000+ poems by 600+ poets and received c. 100,000 views by people from 128 countries. The poetry, their author’s testimonials, as well as “comments” submitted to the organisers and public website, expressed how people felt during the pandemic. In the project’s final three months, the website hosted a survey adapted from the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale (WEMWBS), targeted at understanding the value of poetry, in general, and the website, in particular, to mental health and wellbeing. 400 people took part, 373 completed the WEMWBS, and over 250 participants provided “final comments”. The results show that the writing and reading of poetry – as well as the website itself – were of considerable benefit to mental health and wellbeing.","PeriodicalId":16967,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Poetry Therapy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135816871","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The poem was composed by the author. In a first step, in order to confirm the therapeutic capacity of psychological poetry, an after-death letter regarding a rabbi is presented. In a second step, psychological poetry’s ability as a scientific tool is tested through a study of the relationship between religion and happiness. Here, religion is represented by some religious teachings of a luminary rabbi as they are understood by the author. Happiness is represented by research on Positive Psychology (PP). More specifically, the values of the religious teachings found in the poem are examined and compared to the scientifically established characteristics assigned to happiness. A new method of comparison is applied and allows us to identify and validate the presence of similarities between the two variables. The results obtained in both steps are positive.KEYWORDS: Clinical psychologycounsellingeducationmethodologypoetrypositive psychologyreligion Disclosure statementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the author(s).","PeriodicalId":16967,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Poetry Therapy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136152621","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
