These type of synchronous machines offers high efficiency and high torque by utilizing both magnetic torque and reluctance torque. The reluctance torque caused by the saliency of the machine is used to improve the efficiency and to exploit the full power of the traction drive. In this paper the maximum torque per ampere control strategy is applied on an interior permanent magnet synchronous machine.","PeriodicalId":169529,"journal":{"name":"2015 Tenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125081222","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two modular winding machines and one asymmetric, winding machine are considered and simulated by a Finite Element method (FE). The air gap Maxwell pressure results from multiplication of the flux density harmonics due to magnetomotive forces and permeance linked to the magnet, to the armature, to the stator slots and their interactions. An analytical prediction tool, (Analytical Calculation of Harmonic Force Orders -ACHFO) calculates the space and time orders of theses magnetic force harmonics while identifying their origin in terms of, interactions between magnet, armature and teeth effects. Additionally, an experimental Operational Deflection Shape measurement (ODS) is realised, for one modular machine prototype, to validate the electromagnetic model results. Finally the analytical prediction of ACHFO is compared with another method to obtain the origin of low orders radial pressure based on radial flux density convolution combination approach.","PeriodicalId":169529,"journal":{"name":"2015 Tenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127673595","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aging of supercapacitor is represented by the degradation of its internal parameters as the loss of capacitance and the increase of the Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR). This degradation is continuous until reaching the end of life criteria. The proposed approach is based on estimating the current ESR, of each storage system element with a fast control of the balancing circuit present at the terminal of each storage element. The fast control is applied for a short moment and could be applied at any storage system state with no incidence on the system. The information about this current parameter makes the state of health monitoring possible. The analysis is performed using simulation with realistic storage system models in order to demonstrate and validate the effectiveness and the accuracy of the proposed technique. The results presented covers storage system such as supercapacitor but could be also applied to batteries.","PeriodicalId":169529,"journal":{"name":"2015 Tenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117121005","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The considered machines are induction motors (IM) and PM synchronous motors (PMSM). The software accounts for the case of buried magnets (IPMSM), but with some limits, because the calculations require a much more detailed analysis regarding the magnetic circuit. However, this initial limitation of the software, that will be removed in a later version, does not constitute a major limitation as confirmed by the examples presented in this paper.","PeriodicalId":169529,"journal":{"name":"2015 Tenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117137030","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such a racing vehicle is to compete in formula student racing events. The state-of-the-art powertrain in these vehicles are axial-field machines or medium speed radial-field machines with a gear. This paper concerns a high speed traction machine radial-field design that closely considers the endurance duty-cycle and/or driving cycle of a race car and provides fast acceleration. The proposed electrical machine is designed to be ultra-light-weight. Therefore, an 18,000 rpm (single gear), 24 slot, 4 pole and 33 Nm brushless highly saturated permanent magnet machine is designed, with an active mass of around 3.0 kg (~ 10kW/kg and 10 Nm/kg). To account for the various race events, the velocity of the racing tracks is to be closely matched with the machine output characteristics. Within this paper, the design and no-load results will be presented. In the near future (Q2 of 2015), following extended tests, this machine (integrated with a specifically designed single-stage gear) will be used to drive the vehicle using torque vectoring on all four-wheels. We expect that this will result in a significant performance gain in acceleration, endurance and handling characteristics of the 2015 University Racing Eindhoven race vehicle.","PeriodicalId":169529,"journal":{"name":"2015 Tenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130993225","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a nine-phase FSPM motor with triple star-winding sets spatially displaced by 40 degrees fed by three pulse-width modulated voltage source inverters (VSIs) is proposed, and the fault tolerant operation of the proposed FSPM motor is addressed. The key of this paper is to investigate two remedial strategies for fault-tolerant operation of the FSPM motor drive under open-circuit fault. Firstly, by isolating the faulty star-winding set, the torque pulsations due to phase loss can be remedied, the so-called remedial BLAC operation mode. Secondly, by injecting fifth and seventh harmonic currents to reconstruct armature fields, the low-frequency torque pulsation can also be remedied, the so-called remedial BLAC with harmonic current injection operation mode. Finally, these two remedial operation modes are compared and verified by simulation and experimental results, hence confirming the validity of the proposed fault-tolerant FSPM motor drive.","PeriodicalId":169529,"journal":{"name":"2015 Tenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129873464","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

New control scheme of the VSC-HVDC to provide frequency regulation is proposed. The control strategy is useful for connecting a power system with high penetration of wind farm to other power system. The study has been performed by simulation analysis using PSCAD/EMTDC, and the dynamic performance of the VSC-HVDC with the proposed control is demonstrated. Simulation results shows that proposed controller can damp frequency fluctuation effectively.","PeriodicalId":169529,"journal":{"name":"2015 Tenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128770637","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
