A TTL pulse generator circuit using solid state delay is developed for driving the bias circuit which has a good temperature stability. A protection circuit is also incorporated to prevent burn-out of the diode at high current. A Ka band pulsed IMPATT oscillator is designed and developed using the pulse modulator. Very low chirp is obtained using constant current source and varying the slope of the bias current pulse. The self-similar nature of this fractal like geometry provides higher effective antenna length and wide operating bandwidth because of the onset of multiple resonances. Notch characteristics are introduced using a rectangular slot in the ground plane, which enhances the reflection coefficient over the entire UWB frequency operating range for the proposed device. The optimized 19 mm × 15 mm dimensions, for the proposed antenna are the smallest among such geometries, exhibiting a large bandwidth from 3.1 GHz to 11.7 GHz with VSWR <; 2 over the entire frequency range. The design of rectangular horn as matched feed for an offset parabolic reflector antenna is presented. Dominant TE10 mode is combined with TE11 mode at the horn aperture. A parametric study was carried out using HFSS to evaluate the horn performance under waveport as well as coaxial feed line excitation. The structure is planar, thin, broadband, and easy to design and fabricate. The structure is analyzed by simulations and experiments. The results demonstrate that the proposed structure acts as an absorber with a thickness of λ/24 at frequency 8GHz. Experimental results shows that, the structure exhibits 7% bandwidth at 10dB level. Its properties are evaluated by investigating the incident wave reflection characteristics, using CST microwave studio. The antenna is fabricated on an inexpensive polyester cloth substrate. The antenna resonates at 2.45 GHz with the bandwidth and gain of 41 MHz and 5 dBi respectively. The electrical dimension of proposed wearable antenna is 0.213 λ × 0.246 λ. The antenna has been fabricated, tested, and the measured results are presented in the paper. The unit cell sizes as well as the other geometrical dimensions like radii and widths of the rings are optimized so that absorptions take place at three distinct frequencies near to the middle of the FCC radar frequency spectrum. The proposed structure shows absorptivities of 94.1%, 99.6% and 99.4% at 5.5 GHz, 9.52 GHz and 13.8 GHz respectively. The proposed structure has been studied under oblique incidence, both for TE and TM polarization where it behaves as absorber upto 60 ° incident angles in both the cases.
