Tschebyscheff polynomial and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm has been used to develop the proposed method. In the proposed method search space for PSO has been defined using Tschebyscheff polynomial for an amplitude taper beam steered linear array. PSO with the information of where to search finds the optimum excitation amplitude of the beam steered linear array to achieve reduced SLL.","PeriodicalId":169237,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE Applied Electromagnetics Conference (AEMC)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128130120","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, this benefit comes at the cost of some trade-offs such as complexity in antenna simulation design, fabrication and experimental verification including reduced antenna performance than a passive antenna. In this talk, some of these aspects will be presented based on the research work being performed at San Diego State University. Interested readers are encouraged to read reference papers for additional details.","PeriodicalId":169237,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE Applied Electromagnetics Conference (AEMC)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128512964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A combination of Moore curve and Euclidean curve to create a hybrid fractal slot that is etched out from the radiator results in creating band notches centered at 5.5GHz and 8.1GHz. The band notch centered at 6.8GHz is obtained by Moore fractal slots etched from the ground planes. The impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna covers frequency range from 2.8GHz to 12 GHz. The simulated peak gain is 4 dBi. The group delay profile is almost linear within the passband. Stable radiation patterns are observed within the operating range.","PeriodicalId":169237,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE Applied Electromagnetics Conference (AEMC)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127972614","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

SAR evaluation at different human organs due to cell phone radiation is very common today. On the other hand, none has yet considered that the plants, fruits and crops get exposed to RF radiation from cell phone towers 24 hours a day without any shielding. Therefore, the purpose of this research paper is to evaluate SAR in apple fruit (in tree) due to radiation coming from cell phone towers in GSM bands at controlled and public exposure zones. SAR has been evaluated in an apple with CST MICROWAVE STUDIO (CST-MWS) simulator based on Finite Integration Technique (FIT).","PeriodicalId":169237,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE Applied Electromagnetics Conference (AEMC)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122205739","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This concept can be used in circuits and antennas where substantial conductor loss occurs. The lamination in the composite material is realized using dielectric material. The laminating dielectric thickness is smaller or of the order of the skin depth of the conductor. First, it is shown analytically that in this composite material, the power lost is less in the conductor with several laminated conductors instead of a single solid conductor having the same thickness. The concept can be used in miniaturized antennas having poor gain due to a very high ohmic loss to improve their gain and efficiency by reducing the loss using multiple laminated conductors.","PeriodicalId":169237,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE Applied Electromagnetics Conference (AEMC)","volume":"118 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129063672","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The single unit cell consists of two cave ring resonators backed by metallic plane separated by a dielectric layer. The dimensions of the structure have been optimized so that absorptions take place at two distinct frequencies 5.8 and 8.83 GHz (with absorptivities 99.1% and 99.5% respectively) operating at the FCC radar frequency spectrum. The proposed structure is more compact, consuming lesser area compared to the conventional rectangular closed-ring resonators. It is polarization-insensitive and also shows high absorption (above 80%) upto 60° for both TE and TM incidence.","PeriodicalId":169237,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE Applied Electromagnetics Conference (AEMC)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127828555","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The designed absorber composites are fabricated and tested in the microwave frequency range using the proposed partially filled rectangular waveguide setup. The measured performance of absorber composites shows the reflection loss of at least 13 dB i.e., absorption of 95% throughout the `X' band frequency region. The minima of the reflection loss having value of 28.5 dB i.e., absorption of 99.8% is observed at 10.30 GHz for the optimized sample thickness of 2.5 mm. The wide band absorption and adhesion characteristics of the designed electromagnetic absorber composite having a metallic background makes it a potential candidate for the defense stealth applications.","PeriodicalId":169237,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE Applied Electromagnetics Conference (AEMC)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132928524","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
