As an attempt to solve the problem of summer fodder in Egypt, an evaluation was made. Nine genotypes (six teosinte (T)-maize(M) genotypes (T x M (W)106, T x M 202-A, T x M Hytech 2031, T x M Pioneer 30k8(W), T x M pioneer 3444 (Y),T x M SC Giza 168, Pearl millet, Fodder maize and Sudan grass) were evaluated in three nitrogen level (0, 50 and 100 Kg N Fed -1 ) through 2021 and 2022 summer seasons. The aim of this work is to assess the forage yield performance, determine the magnitude of (G × E) interaction and investigate the stability derived from regression and variance analyses besides using graphical analysis. The crosses T x M SC pioneer 3444 and M (W) 106 and M (Y) 202-A exhibited a significant increase in the fresh and dry matter yield followed by Sudan grass and Pearl millet. Low S 2 d and value of b around one with high yield over mean were found by T x M Y202-A, T x M pioneer for fresh yield and Pearl millet for dry matter. Graphical analysis confirmed the aforementioned results in addition it showed that fodder maize had the lowest values for fresh yield; meanwhile the highest values were detected by genotypes T x M W106","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136339931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results indicated that the genotypes in the study possessed high variability for all the studied traits. There were high differences between the crosses for mid parent and better parent heterosis in all the studied traits. F 1 hybrids (P 3 ×P 4 ) and (P 4 ×P 5 ) gave the highest means for yield and yield attributes. The magnitudes of GCA and SCA effects were significantly which indicated the presence of both additive and dominance gene effect in governing all the studied traits. The GCA/SCA ratio was more than one which indicates that additive gene effect was more important in the inheritance of the studied traits. General combining ability analysis exhibited that P 3 and P 4 could be considered as promising parents in breeding programs to produce melon hybrids. Heritability in the broad sense was larger in values than their corresponding heritability in narrow sense, which indicates the large effects of the genetic variance on the expression of these traits. The obtained results of heritability evaluation presented additional evidence about predominance of dominance gene effect in the inheritance of the studied traits. Therefore, hybridization program could be used for producing superior promising melon hybrids.","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136339932","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So, a field experiment was implemented aiming at evaluating different plant residues compost as main plots [Sn - C: Snap bean compost (foliage), So-C : Soya bean compost (stover) and W-C : Wheat compost (straw), at a rate of 25.0 m 3 ha -1 for each source plus control treatment (without compost)] and various amino acids as sub-main plots [control (without), lysine (100 mg L -1 ), arginine (100 mg L -1 ) and proline (100 mg L -1 ) with the volume of 900 L ha -1 for each studied amino acid] on the performance of feverfew plant. The results show that the Sn -C treatment was superior for obtaining the best performance [ i.e., plant height, No. of branches, herb fresh and dry weights, flower fresh and dry weights, No. of flower plant -1 , essential oil, photosynthetic pigments (chlorophyll and carotene) and chemical constituents (N, P, K)] followed by So-C treatment then W-C treatment, whilst control treatment came in the last order. Regarding the amino acids treatments, the results illustrate that the sequence order of amino acids for obtaining the best performance from top to less was proline, arginine, lysine and control treatment, respectively. Generally, it can be concluded that treating the soil with plant residues compost and simultaneously spraying the plants with amino acids will achieve improvement in the performance of medicinal and aromatic plants.","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135553787","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
