Though online learning has been practiced for long and proved to be effective, its usefulness should be looked for in developing countries like Nepal. Methods: An online survey was conducted among undergraduate medical students with the help of a structured self-administered questionnaire consisting of demographic information, modalities of online classes they are taking and their opinion regarding the online classes. Results: Most of the students had access to the devices and internet facilities though some of the students responded that they have no internet facility at home. More than half of the students have answered that they are having some sort of visual problem after the online classes have started. Most of the students responded that the internet connectivity issue is a hindrance to online learning. More than half of the students strongly disagree that online class should be continued even after the pandemic is over. Conclusion: There are lots of obstacles in virtual learning in resource-limited countries like ours. The effectiveness of e-learning should be evaluated among the students and the shortcomings of virtual learning should be addressed by concerned authorities.","PeriodicalId":16825,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Pharmacy Practice and Community Medicine","volume":"4 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91192988","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But the time has reached to draw peoples’ attention towards this major medical complication of pregnancy. Women with risk factors such as age greater than 25years; being overweight i.e., BMI > 27kg/m2 before pregnancy and BMI > 30kg/m2 during pregnancy; family history of diabetes; the previous history of pregnancy-induced hypertension and weight of the previous baby of ≥4.5kg have a greater incidence of hyperglycemia during their pregnancy period.[2] American Diabetes Association recommends that all pregnant women without a prior known history of diabetes should undergo a 75g Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) at 24-28 weeks of gestation with a purpose of improving gestational life and preventing adverse pregnancy outcomes.[3] Women with GDM may have LGA (large for gestational age) for birth weight, stillbirth, difficult delivery, neonatal morbidities (respiratory difficulties, neonatal hypoglycemia, jaundice and in most cases death) and impaired healing of the surgical site after cesarean section as a result of uncontrolled diabetes during pregnancy.[4] Read more...","PeriodicalId":16825,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Pharmacy Practice and Community Medicine","volume":"29 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82242285","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article, written by Vidya Krishnan and entitled “Labour pain: Sitapur’s maternity racket,” tells of a young India couple in the state of Uttar Pradesh who were gouged for money while trying to participate in a free government program to promote births by trained professionals called the Janani Suraksha Yojana, or JSY. This program was designed to help families stay safe during the process of childbirth in compliance with the World Health Organization’s goals.[1] The extortion came in the form of demanded tips from the people involved and threats were made when the victims did not initially comply. The program offers enough money to the participants to pay for the birth with some leftover, but, due to a loophole in the system, this young couple had yet to receive anything.","PeriodicalId":16825,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Pharmacy Practice and Community Medicine","volume":"54 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84312531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is a dearth of information on the relationship between knowledge of benefit of physical activity and physical activity level among individuals with asthma in Kano State, Nigeria. Aim: To determine the relationship between the knowledge of benefit of physical activity and physical activity level among individuals with asthma in Kano State, Nigeria. Methodology: Seventy-four (74) participants were recruited from two selected hospitals in Kano State in a cross sectional study. International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ)-short Form and Knowledge Questionnaire were used to collect information on self-reported physical activity in the last 7 days and level of knowledge of benefit of physical activity respectively. Descriptive statistics was used to describe the data and Spearman Rank Correlation test were used to analyze the data at alpha level of 0.05. Results: A positive relationship existed between overall knowledge of benefit of physical activity and physical activity level among the participants. The majority of the participants were males 43 (58.1%). About 41 (55.4%) were in the age group of 18-35 years, most of them 32 (43.2%) were married. Knowledge assessment showed that 56(75.7%) of them had low knowledge of benefit of physical activity. Physical activity level assessment revealed that 39(52.7%) had low physical activity level. Negative relationship was observed between knowledge of benefit of physical activity and all socio-demographic studied (age, gender, marital status, tribe, education and occupation). A positive correlation existed between physical activity level and socio demographic variables (age, gender, marital status and tribe) except that a negative correlation was observed only between physical activity level with education and occupation. Conclusion: Knowledge of benefit of physical activity correlates positively with physical activity level among individuals with asthma in Kano State. In early childhood, colonization of H. pylori in stomach releases different pathogenic factors which interfere with functions of human cells. Combination of two main genetic pathogenic factors CagA and VacA play important role in causing severity of H. pylori infection. In H. pylori infected patients, CagA and CagPAI positive strains have positive association in development of peptic ulcer disease and gastric cancers.50-70% of H. pylori produces CagA gene that is multifunction toxin. By adapting different mechanisms CagA define its role in oncogenic signaling cascades, in tumor suppressor pathway and in inflammation. CagA gene is strongly associated with VacA cytotoxic function and the strains, ultimately responsible for epithelial destruction of stomach and leading towards cancer.
