It is especially appropriate when someone is making a request, talking on the telephone or engaging in a pleasant conversation with someone else. However, there are different opinions about what is and is not considered as polite since there are distinctions in culture from one country to other countries all over the world. \u0000Purpose: research aims to find out the negative politeness strategies which is used by Colleen McGuire in her utterances as the main character of the novel Savage Land. \u0000Design and methods: This research use a qualitative method. The data source that is used in this research is taken from the dialogues uttered by Colleen McGuire as the main female character in the novel Savage Land. \u0000Results: From the 10 strategies of negative politeness strategy according to Brown and Levinson’s theory, the writer found the total of 4 strategies which was used by the main female character, Colleen McGuire, in the novel Savage Land. The research was conducted at the seventh grade of SMP Tunas Harapan, Pasar Kemis, Tangerang. The data were collected through observation, teaching learning process, pre-test and post-test, questionnaires. This program contains the planning, how to implement and improve the students’ English Grammar Simple Future through Active Learning Method. When people do code switching, it can make them become bilingual.\u0000Purpose: The objective of this paper is to find out how many code switching are applied, types of code switching in dialog between the characters in Insecurity novel of Angelina Johnson included the reasons for using the code switching.\u0000Design and methods: The method used in this analysis is qualitative descriptive method with the library and internet research. This analysis focused on analyzing the types of code switching based on the theory of Poplack and reasons for using code switching based on Hoffman theory.\u0000Results: The results of analysis found the total in dialog that code switching occurs 141 data from chapter 1 to 19. Total 3 types of code switching, that most widely used is intra-sentential occurs 122 times, then inter-sentential 13 times, while tag switching occurs 6 times. The planning stage, the action stage, the observation stage, the reflection stage. \u0000Results: The result showed that Through the Contextual Teaching and Learning Approach, learning Indonesian in reading and writing is easier to apply in everyday life that students encounter. Writing activities can make students be active and develop in learning activities and can stimulate the existence of stringing skills and composing words. \u0000Purpose: The research aims to investigate the effectiveness of the image media in increasing the writing skills of the first grader of elementary. \u0000Design and methods: The research applied case study methods with descriptive analysis techniques. Samples in this study were taken from SDN Cibinong 01 with a population of 20 grade 1 students consisting of 10 male students and 10 female students. \u0000Results: The results obtained from the study showed that the effectiveness of the image media used to hone the initial writing skills of grade 1 students at SDN Cibinong 01 as a whole can be said to have been good with a percentage of 85%. The utterances do not only contain grammatical structures and words but people also perform actions through the utterances. In producing an utterance, the speaker regularly anticipates the hearer to recognize his/her intention. The study that covers this is the speech act.\u0000Purpose: This research attempted to analyze the classification of speech acts proposed by Searle, namely representatives, directives, expressive, commissives, and declarations in the movie script of Thor: Ragnarok.\u0000Design and methods: A qualitative method was used in this research. The type used is a Quasi Experimental Design research, this design has a control group, but does not fully function to control the external variables that affect the implementation of the experiment. By using the euphemism, it can turn unmentionable words into mentionable and less offensive. Turning the unmentionable or bad words into mentionable or good words that make euphemism give rise to semantic change through changing the sense of words. \u0000Purpose: The aim of this research is to find the types of euphemism in The Washington Times online political articles. \u0000Design and methods: This research applied descriptive qualitative method, while the data were collected by close reading and observing the words, phrases or clauses that contains the euphemism types in The Washington Times online political articles. This research applies the theory of Allan and Burridge for euphemism types \u0000Results: As the results of representative data, the types of euphemism found in the articles are 3 metaphors, 1 remodeling, 9 circumlocutions, 1 abbreviation, 2 one-for-one substitutions, and 1 hyperbole. She is able to speak both Bahasa and English. In each her video, Suhay Salim always uses code switching and code mixing. \u0000Purpose: The objective of this research is to know the types of code switching and code mixing used in the video, and also to know the reasons why the speaker used code switching and code mixing in her YouTube video. \u0000Design and methods: The data were collected through library research. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative method. \u0000Results: The result of this analysis is indicated that: (1) Types of code switching that found are situational code switching and metaphorical code switching. (2) types of code mixing found are insertion and alternation.
