The mechanism of the expansion of the gas is explicitly investigated and compared with that of an interacting Bose gas. The role of interactions in the equilibrium and non-equilibrium behaviour of the fermionic component in Fermi - Bose mixtures is discussed. Special emphasis is given to the case of potassium isotope mixtures.","PeriodicalId":16799,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics B","volume":"33 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1998-10-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76660758","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Experimentally, polarization analysed photons from the Li I - transition are detected in coincidence with scattered Li neutrals in the 1-25 keV impact energy range. Over most of this range, we find good agreement with 26- and 35-state atomic orbital (AO) basis coupled-channel calculations, as well as with 28-state molecular orbital (MO) basis predictions. Limits of validity of the two theoretical approaches are also discussed in terms of the predicted state-to-state transfer cross sections.","PeriodicalId":16799,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics B","volume":"15 7","pages":"3419-3428"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1998-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91469966","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Only singlet states were observed when the target was He; in contrast, many triplet states were observed in and Ar collisions. Both singlet and triplet states contributed to the electron spectra in collisions, in particular, triplet states were conspicuous at low energy. Two theoretical methods, perturbation theory or Z expansion (MZ code) and multiconfigurational Hartree-Fock (Cowan code) were used for identification of ejected-electron spectra. The collision energy dependence of the spectra is discussed.","PeriodicalId":16799,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics B","volume":"8 1","pages":"3233-3243"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1998-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89815188","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The assignment of rotation-vibration transitions has been done for J up to 35 and Ka up to 12, for the band and up to J = 40 and Ka = 2 for the band respectively. The effective Hamiltonian used in calculations accounts for the first-order Coriolis coupling between these two bands. In addition, as the levels corresponding to Ka = 5 are perturbed, it was necessary to account for anharmonic resonance with the (321) state. Also, to correctly reproduce the levels of (015) with Ka = 8,9,10 it has been necessary to include a Coriolis coupling with (080) state in the model. In this way, we have obtained a very satisfactory r.m.s. deviation of , near the experimental accuracy. Rovibrational line intensities of and bands were measured and the value of the principal transition moment constants have been recovered. Finally a complete list of line positions and intensities was calculated leading to the integrated band intensity of /molecule for the band and /molecule for the band at 296 K with a cut-off of .","PeriodicalId":16799,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics B","volume":"545 1","pages":"2559-2569"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1998-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74787824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These measurements fill the gap which existed between the low-energy (threshold to about 12 eV) data of Zobel et al and the intermediate energy (20-50 eV) results of Middleton et al. Recent electron time-of-flight measurements are utilized to place the relative cross sections (deduced from energy-loss spectra) on the absolute scale. The cross sections are in excellent agreement with the results obtained by Zobel et al at the overlapping impact energies and always smoothly extrapolate to their low-energy results. Extrapolation to the intermediate energy domain and comparison with the results of Middleton et al is not so clear. Comparison with theoretical differential and integral cross sections of Sun et al and the integral cross sections of Morgan and Tennyson reveals angular and energy dependences which resemble those found for the experimental results but there are serious discrepances concerning the absolute magnitudes.","PeriodicalId":16799,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics B","volume":"23 1","pages":"2395-2413"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1998-05-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75739853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The lowest three electronic target states (, and the ) of this molecular nitrogen cation are included in the close-coupling method, with each state being represented by a valence CI approximation. From a detailed analysis of the resonance structure found in our work for the symmetries we find four prominent Rydberg series of the type , , , and a interloper resonance. This interloper molecular resonance associated with the B state of is seen to cause distortions of the resulting resonance spectra. Significant discrepancies between theory and experiment are observed at an incident beam energy below about 5 MeV. The discrepancies are greatly reduced by the inclusion of collision-induced intrashell coupling (ECPSSR-IS) and modifications of the binding factor in the theory in the united atom picture (ECPSSR-IS-UA). More specifically, in this case of Yb L-shell ionization by energetic ions, the contribution of L-subshell coupling towards better agreement with the theory is more significant than binding energy correction.","PeriodicalId":16799,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics B","volume":"354 1","pages":"5693-5700"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76600478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For both processes the absolute values of the cross sections are similar to the geometrical cross sections and decrease with increasing collision energy below E = 400 eV. In the case of projectiles, the charge transfer cross section remains almost constant for larger collision energies while increases in the case of capture by beyond 400 eV and saturates around 1350 eV. From an interpretation of the measured cross sections using very simple models it can be concluded that the electron transfer is resonant in collisions between and , as would be expected, and has both resonant and non-resonant contributions for projectiles. The qualitative agreement of the experimental results with very simple one-electron models developed to describe the general trends of the charge transfer cross sections determined in ion - atom collisions in the intermediate energy range (where the semiclassical impact parameter method can be applied) is quite surprising.","PeriodicalId":16799,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics B","volume":"61 1","pages":"5293-5303"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78701950","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
