There are over 5500 airlines in the world with ICAO codes. Not all airlines are formed and work equally. Airlines have a different market positions and operating methods. But from some point of view, we can see the same obstacles and difficulties which all must face. We may look at the economic challenges, demand and world crises as a great example. The principal purpose of the presented article is to discuss briefly the dilemmas of airlines, particularly recent coronavirus pandemic. In our analysis, we looked at some breaking points in the recent history of aviation. The current state was analyzed in the first phase. We performed an overall review, and the available data were summarized as forecasts before and after the health crisis. The main part of discussion was extended by displaying various changes in airlines’ operation during the pandemic. Many airlines were forced to change their strategy, reduced their flight capacity, cut the frequency of flights and put their planes into hibernation mode. These differences have significant outcomes as bankruptcies, financial and employee losses etc. However, the coronavirus has started slowing the spread and most airlines are restarting their operations.","PeriodicalId":167600,"journal":{"name":"2020 New Trends in Aviation Development (NTAD)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129815242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main goal of this research is to develop a preliminary airborne test bed for a micro turbojet engine to accomplish performance measurements. The authors present the results in two parts. The entire work, presented here and in Part I, forms the basis to show the benefits of using Turbofan Power Ratio (TPR) in such kind of turbine engines, which can be considered as novelty. In turbojet engines, unlike conventional controls based on rotor speed (n) or Engine Pressure Ratio (EPR) the compound thermodynamic parameter TPR exhibits linear correlation with the thrust of the engine. In order to develop an airborne test bench, complex design and assessment steps must be carried out. The first part of this complex research deals with the integration of powerplant and airframe. The second part, which is presented in this paper, shows the development of a remote data acquisition system based on the already existing electronic engine controller. This paper aims to describe the development steps and evaluation of the preliminary performance of this measurement system.","PeriodicalId":167600,"journal":{"name":"2020 New Trends in Aviation Development (NTAD)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116294563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For a radar, birds are targets with very low Radar Cross Section (RCS) value. This paper deals with the theoretical analysis of the X-band Pulse-Doppler radar detection probability and the maximal detection ranges for birds. The X-band Doppler Radar is one of possibilities how to eliminate bird strikes. Birds’ flight dynamics and experimental results on birds’ detection is included in the paper.","PeriodicalId":167600,"journal":{"name":"2020 New Trends in Aviation Development (NTAD)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126011786","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Aviation technology is used for rapid transport, the search for people, the rapid overcoming of inaccessible terrain, and finally for the transport of fire extinguishers to the fire site. Such fires, where aircraft are often used for liquidation, include forest fires. The statistics, which are processed annually in Slovakia, tell us that forest fires are constantly there, and, in addition, their number is growing every year and thus causes significant material and environmental damage. In the article, we will also compare the effectiveness of aviation technology in maneuvering and applying an extinguishing agent to a fire site on a selected example.","PeriodicalId":167600,"journal":{"name":"2020 New Trends in Aviation Development (NTAD)","volume":"57 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123383266","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To halt its spread, countries around the world have gradually reduced international traffic, closed down operations and imposed social distancing rules. Aviation is one of the sectors that has experienced these restrictions in great intensity. The article describes the specific problems encountered by air carriers as well as airports, aircraft manufacturers and other sectors directly linked to the existence of the aviation industry. The second part of the article focuses on the comparison with previous crises of different origin using aggregated data about world air transportation. Based on this we evaluate the prospects for the aviation industry. We conclude, that the recovery from the current crisis in aviation will depend on the economic recovery as well as restoring the confidence of the travelling public.","PeriodicalId":167600,"journal":{"name":"2020 New Trends in Aviation Development (NTAD)","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133925194","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The content and form of professional training of aviation personnel, the level of their training, and usability is therefore a current agenda and a challenge for the future. The main goal of the article is to identify and describe the initial state of training requirements of selected specializations, within the requirements for air personnel for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic, as a specific air operator. The methodology of solving the problem is based on historical and content analysis of previous experience and aviation practice, induction, deduction, and synthesis of knowledge for formulating the target state of training of selected specializations for aviation. The result is the requirements and baseline for the specializations of a military pilot, air traffic controller, and technician. The partial outputs are part of a feasibility study to support decision-making processes on the way forward in meeting the strategic goal in the field of training of air personnel for the Air Force.","PeriodicalId":167600,"journal":{"name":"2020 New Trends in Aviation Development (NTAD)","volume":"124 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123082419","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
