A newly proposed “mechanical-doping” method was applied in preparation of a polarized target material. A solid material having been crushed into small particles with a diameter of about 20 nm, is mixed with a free radical. This allows target nuclei to have more chance to interact with the free electrons or polarized nuclei surrounding the small particles. A first DNP test at a magnetic field of 2.5 T and a temperature of 0.9 K was performed with a sample of LaF_{3} processed in the mechanical-doping method to introduce a free radical TEMPO dispersed in ethanol. ^{19}F polarizations of 3.3 % and -2.7 % were achieved. The obtained polarization enhancement for ^{19}F demonstrated effectiveness of the new method.","PeriodicalId":166894,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of XVII International Workshop on Polarized Sources, Targets & Polarimetry — PoS(PSTP2017)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115893495","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Compared with our cryogen-filled DNP system, the closed-cycle system is made compact and can change the sample in a comparable time-scale, but achieved proton-polarization is only 11.2 and 20$pm$3% for bulk and thin-film samples, respectively, whereas 32-37% is achieved with the cryogen-filled system. This is because cooling power of the recycling cold helium gas in the closed-cycle system is lower than that of superfluid helium in the cryogen-filled one. In order to improve the polarization with the closed-cycle system, we have to improve thermal contact between the sample and cold helium gas to minimize microwave heating of the sample.","PeriodicalId":166894,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of XVII International Workshop on Polarized Sources, Targets & Polarimetry — PoS(PSTP2017)","volume":"222 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123971959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the main components of the srEDM experimental set-up is the polarimeter to observe the slow buildup of vertical polarization. In our concept, the polarimeter is based on inorganic novel LYSO crystals and low voltage silicon photomultipliers (SiPM). Up to now, more than 30 modules have been assembled in different configurations. They have first been tested in the laboratory with internal and external radiation sources and subsequently, they have been exposed to the experimental environment with accelerator beams. We have performed three test beam times at several different beam energies. The results of the measurements and accumulated experience of the module production will be presented.","PeriodicalId":166894,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of XVII International Workshop on Polarized Sources, Targets & Polarimetry — PoS(PSTP2017)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130408656","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

HJET performance in RHIC Run 2017 (255 GeV proton beams) will be discussed. The long term (1-100 days) stability of the measured effective analyzing power $langle A_Nrangle$ was found to be $sqrt{langle(deltasigma^mathrm{syst}_{A_N})^2rangle}/A_Nle0.1%$. The systematic error in measurement of the RHIC beam average polarization of $Psim56%$ was evaluated to be $sigma_P^mathrm{syst}/Plesssim0.5%$. The statistical error in such a measurement is defined by the number of detected $p^uparrow p^uparrow$ elastic events and for an 8 hours RHIC store it was typically at $sigma_P^mathrm{stat}approx2%$. The elastic events statistics of about $10^9$ per RHIC beam accumulated during Run 2017 allowed us to make a detailed study of the proton-proton single-spin $A_N (t)$ and double-spin $A_{NN}(t)$ analyzing powers in the momentum transfer range $0.001<-t<0.020~(mathrm{GeV}⁄c)^2$. Contributions of the hadronic single $r_5$ and double $r_2$ spin-flip amplitudes were isolated. Analysis of the inelastic background $p_mathrm{beam}^uparrow+p_mathrm{target}^uparrowrightarrow X+p_mathrm{target}$ allowed us to experimentally evaluate the beam and target spin correlated asymmetries in these processes for $M_X-m_plesssim400 mathrm{MeV}$ and $tsim-0.005 (mathrm{GeV}⁄c)^2$. The data acquired during 3 weeks of Gold-Gold beams in RHIC allowed us to make a high statistics measurement of the $p^uparrowmathrm{Au}$ analyzing power at $E_text{Lab}=27.2$unit{}{GeV}.","PeriodicalId":166894,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of XVII International Workshop on Polarized Sources, Targets & Polarimetry — PoS(PSTP2017)","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128398395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
