In this case, a multi-point absorber wave energy converter is used because its structure is simple and efficient. This design offers some advantages such as greater energy harvesting and stabilization of the output power. In this way, the union of the hydraulic system and electric generator in detail is presented. The objective of the proposed approach has been to maintain the speed in the electric generator and reduce the effect of wave energy fluctuation on the output power. At the same time, an MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) control algorithm is incorporated. Its purpose is to obtain maximum efficiency of the proposed system. In addition, the system uses an HVDC line and high-power DC/DC converters to connect to the power grid. The different modules are connected in parallel on the side of the buoy-farm and in series on the HVDC transmission line to achieve high power and high voltage. The developed model also incorporates a decentralized hybrid energy storage system (dHESS) based on ultracapacitors. In many cases, ESS is necessary for the grid integration of marine energy due to flicker restrictions in the devices, which allows us to attenuate the oscillations of energy injected into the HVDC line. The WEC system and the dHESS model have been simulated in Matlab-Simulink. In this way, different simulations have been developed to verify the basic characteristics of the proposed system. The results of the simulated model and the conclusions obtained are also presented in this document.","PeriodicalId":166751,"journal":{"name":"2020 Fifteenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130667929","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To address this, this study investigated the combination of machine learning-based PV power and load demand prediction approaches to forecast residual load at the building level. The forecast accuracy, seasonal dependencies and the effects of single forecasts on the residual load were evaluated by means of three different metrics, namely: mean absolute error (MAE), root-mean-square error (RMSE) and the mean absolute scaled error (MASE). The applicability of the combined forecast was tested via a case study of integrated battery-electric vehicles and a PV system in an existing commercial building. The results show how the residual load forecast can help schedule grid-friendly charging demand and optimize PV self-consumption.","PeriodicalId":166751,"journal":{"name":"2020 Fifteenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131979062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A frequency-constrained stochastic unit commitment model is employed to optimally schedule EV charging and discharging as well as the provision of frequency response (FR) in an electricity system, while respecting the vehicles’ energy requirements and driving schedules. Through case studies we demonstrate that an EV with vehicle to grid (V2G) capability can reduce system costs in a future GB electricity grid by up to £12,000 per year, and reduce CO2 emissions by 60 tonnes per year, mainly due to reduced curtailment of wind power. The paper also quantifies the changes in the benefits of fleet V2G resulting from variations in FR delivery time, the penetration of wind or the uptake of alternative flexibility providers. Finally, a battery degradation model dependent on an EV’s state of charge is proposed and implemented in the stochastic scheduling problem. It enables significant degradation cost reductions of 16% with only a 0.4% reduction of an EV’s system value.","PeriodicalId":166751,"journal":{"name":"2020 Fifteenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128765787","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Four 2-pole slotted motors with different slot numbers, i.e. 3, 6, 9, and 12, are globally optimised for maximum torque, and their electromagnetic performance are compared. It shows that the 6-slot/2-pole HSPM motor with toroidal windings exhibits good electromagnetic performance without unbalanced magnetic force, and is also easy to realise a modular structure. Hence, it is eminently suitable for high speed application. In addition, the 3-slot motors with toroidal windings and tooth-coil windings are compared. It confirms that toroidal windings are not suitable for use in the 3-slot/2-pole HSPM slotted motor.","PeriodicalId":166751,"journal":{"name":"2020 Fifteenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"227 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123369236","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, we use platooning technology to exchange data regarding braking maneuvers via V2X and to react to them automatically. Our newly presented method is based on reducing the safety distance before and after overtaking to the minimum necessary distance i.e. so small that no collision occurs even in the worst case of an emergency braking. To achieve this, we first devote ourselves to the exact calculations of reaction and braking distances depending on important parameters such as velocity and weight. We then combine these in our model for the calculations of the safety distances and as a result we deliver the necessary relative speeds and improvements through cooperative overtaking maneuvers.","PeriodicalId":166751,"journal":{"name":"2020 Fifteenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"185 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122221125","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the torque improvement is quite limited. This paper proposes a doubly-fed (DF) CPFRM (DF-CPFRM) with two independent sets of armature windings placed on stator and rotor slots, which can realize better rotor space utilization and significant torque enhancement. First, the machine configurations and operation principles are introduced. Then, the optimization aiming at maximum torque while maintaining high fault tolerance are elaborated. The influence of main geometric parameters including split ratio, stator and rotor slot opening ratio etc. on the torque performance is also explicated. Moreover, the optimized DF-CPFRM is compared with the conventional CPFRM in terms of back-EMF, electromagnetic torque and overload capability etc. using finite element (FE) method.","PeriodicalId":166751,"journal":{"name":"2020 Fifteenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121595447","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As long as the grid frequency corresponds to the nominal value, a wind turbine in partial load range can be operated at the maximum power point (MPP) for maximizing the energy yield. In response to a frequency drop, an inertial control increases the power output for supporting the grid with a reduction of speed as a result. Once the frequency is stabilized, a return in the MPP by accelerating the drive train should happen. For this, the power output of the MPP tracking needs to be speed-dependent, which leads to power fluctuations when wind fluctuations are taken into account. A novel control structure is introduced that uses a special form of MPP tracking, targeting a smooth power output and a guarantee of operational stability. Its behavior is analyzed on the basis of simulation results.","PeriodicalId":166751,"journal":{"name":"2020 Fifteenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125266448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As stationary energy storage devices are not competitive at nanogrid level nowadays, the smart charging of electric vehicles seems to be a feasible and cost-effective solution. The more restrictive regulations on pollutants suggest the adoption of alternative onboard propulsion and energy generation systems. To this end, electrification is a promising solution for pollution reduction, giving some flexibility on the strategy to use for the onboard system. Moreover, a hybrid-electric system can be combined with the exploitation of green fuel, increasing the potential reduction of total emissions. However, the final efficiency, both in term of emission reduction and expected operative expenditure, is strongly influenced by the operative profile of the vessel. This is of utmost importance both in case of a newly designed vessel and in the retrofitting of an existing one.
