The proposed approach augments the ML performance in the graph cut setup. The integration of the prediction capabilities of the classifiers and neighborhood relationship of the pixels result in increase of segmentation performance. The experimental setup includes an evaluation of the Bayesian Network, Multilayer Perceptron, Random Forest and the Histogram approach of Jones and Rehg [1]. The evaluation results based on the color based detection dataset reveal that the proposed integrative approach improves the detection performance compared to using the off-line classifiers alone.","PeriodicalId":166507,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Emerging Technologies (ICET)","volume":"184 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124678159","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The identified model can represent an aircraft in all flight regimes and thus can be used for the development of flight simulators and automatic flight controllers. In this research, a unique three stage procedure is presented for time domain system identification of small scale fixed wing UAV. Flight experiment was conducted with specifically designed maneuvers for identification of the UAV's longitudinal dynamics. Initial reference model was developed using UAV's geometrical information in DATCOM. Recorded data, from flight tests, was processed in MATLAB system identification toolbox for estimating grey box aircraft models by applying Prediction Error Method. The model was iteratively improved through Adaptive Gauss Newton optimization. Model validation and error analysis were performed and the UAV's aerodynamic coefficients were determined. Excellent validation results show that the identified model can be used for various applications including the design of altitude and airspeed controllers of autopilot.","PeriodicalId":166507,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Emerging Technologies (ICET)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126822078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Simulation are verifying the feasibility and working. The main purpose of this study is to propose a feasible solution to replace fossil fuel energy sources to renewable energy sources without changing current working distribution grids setup. This paper will describe main components of this hierarchy including DC-DC converters, DC transmission, energy storage devices and grid integration. DC-DC converters are converting generated voltages to high voltages to transmit them on DC transmission line. Similarly a DC-DC step down converter is being used for step down purpose for using transmission line voltage to low level voltage for energy storage purpose and for grid integration on distribution side. DC-AC inverter is using old distribution grid signal as sample and converter DC into AC according to it. Simulation results verify the efficient working of all converters and completely stable system.","PeriodicalId":166507,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Emerging Technologies (ICET)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127787347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this paper is to develop a Hybrid Power System (HPS) integrating a renewable energy source, namely, a Wind Turbine (WT) coupled with Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) and a hybrid energy storage system, i.e., a battery bank and super-capacitor in the proposed architecture. The proposed system is connected to the national grid to increase reliability and continuity of power. In the proposed system, the WT is taken as primary energy source to satisfy the domestic load demand. The battery is added to regulate the output power of WT under unpredictable power fluctuations. The super-capacitor overfills the slow response of battery under rapidly changing load condition due to its high power density. The power management and regulation is performed by Coordinated Energy Management System (CEMS). The performance of the presented design is tested under different wind speed and load conditions for the Matlab simulation of 48 Hrs. The proposed system demonstrates excellent performance in terms of grid stability, voltage and frequency regulation.","PeriodicalId":166507,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Emerging Technologies (ICET)","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121719134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a k-min search problem a player wishes to purchase k units of an item, with the objective to minimize the total buying cost. In Computer Science this problem is studied under the competitive analysis paradigm. Lorenz et al. and Iqbal and Ahmad proposed algorithms (namely LPS and Hybrid respectively) to solve the k-min search problem under the competitive analysis approach. However, the main drawback of the competitive analysis is the assumption that the input is always a worst-case and thus resulting in risk-mitigating algorithms. We consider a scenario where an investor will like to introduce risk in his decision making and test algorithms on real world data by introducing risk in the decision making criterion. We observe that Hybrid performs better than LPS.","PeriodicalId":166507,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Emerging Technologies (ICET)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133385465","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The speed of motor is maintained at the desired reference value by adjusting the value of armature current. The armature current is varied by controlling the firing angle of LCC. The desired value of reference current is obtained from the corresponding speed value and is fed to the controller. The controller takes the measured and reference value of armature current as an input. The output of the controller is firing angle. To maintain the motor speed at the desired value two controllers the FLC and the conventional Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controllers are employed and their performance is compared. The proposed controllers and power system is implemented in Control System and SimPowerSystem toolbox of MATLAB. Results of Computer simulation are described and debated together with a comparative analysis of the different control schemes. The simulation results show that the proposed FLC has tracking ability with better steady state error and transient response than conventional PID controller. Moreover, the deleterious effects of converter on input current and power factor are also discussed.","PeriodicalId":166507,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Emerging Technologies (ICET)","volume":"140 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121890094","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is taking its toll on Pakistan economy, infrastructure, and environment in the form of frequent floods. In order to keep the numbers steady frequent surveys need to be conducted. Identifying lush green forests through remote sensing is quite effective when it comes to collecting ground truth reality through extensive ground surveys. In the following study two pixels based supervised classification algorithms i.e. Parallelepiped and Mahalanobis Distance Classification Algorithms are compared for classifying forests in Pakistan. For that purpose High Geometric Resolution Imagery of SPOT-5 (2.5m) is used as the base image. According to our results Parallelepiped Classification is proved to be the better one of the two with overall accuracy of 95.4% and kappa coefficient value of 0.937, with reference to the Mahalanobis Distance classifier with overall accuracy of 85.97% and kappa coefficient value equal to 0.8115. On the basis of these findings Parallelepiped Classifier is preferred to be used for the remote sensing of forestry in Pakistan.","PeriodicalId":166507,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Emerging Technologies (ICET)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125949833","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
