The base station (BS) is assumed to use a single tap precoding/decoding matrix at each subcarrier in the downlink/uplink, resulting in a low complexity of implementation. The expression of the asymptotic mean squared error (MSE) for this precoding/decoding design in the case of strong channel selectivity is recalled and simplified. Optimizing the MSE under a channel inversion constraint, the expression of the optimal precoding/decoding matrix is found. It is shown that as long as the number of BS antennas is larger than the number of users, the optimized precoder and decoder can compensate for the channel frequency selectivity and even restore the system orthogonality for a large enough number of BS antennas.","PeriodicalId":165321,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122159049","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem can be formulated as a least squares (LS) estimation problem and becomes ill-posed at high resolutions, i.e. large number of image pixels. In this paper we propose two regularization methods, one based on weighted truncation of the eigenvalue decomposition of the image deconvolution matrix and the other based on the prior knowledge of the \"dirty image\" using the available data. The methods are evaluated by simulations as well as actual data from a phased-array radio telescope in the Netherlands, the Low Frequency Array Radio Telescope (LOFAR).","PeriodicalId":165321,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128617501","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The considered smart grid is equipped with an energy storage device. The privacy leakage is modeled as optimal Bayesian detections on the behaviors of the consumer made by an authorized adversary. To evaluate the privacy risk, a Bayesian detection-operational privacy leakage metric is proposed. The design of an optimal privacy-preserving energy control strategy can be formulated as a belief state MDP problem. Therefore, standard methods and algorithms can be utilized to obtain or to approximate the optimal control strategy. A simplified problem to design an instantaneous optimal privacy-preserving control strategy is also considered. It is shown that the problem of the instantaneous optimal control strategy design can be formulated as a set of linear programmings.","PeriodicalId":165321,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121352833","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Present methods of analysing brain data in task-conditions mainly include concatenation followed by temporal correlation. We employ Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods, namely Metropolis within Gibbs sampling, on a stochastic model to infer dynamic functional connectivity in such conditions. By using a Bayesian probabilistic framework, distributional estimates of the linkage strengths are obtained as opposed to point estimates, and the uncertainty of the existence of such links is accounted for. The methodology is applied to fMRI data from a finger opposition paradigm with task and fixation conditions, investigating the dynamics of the well characterised somato-motor network while using the visual network as a control case.","PeriodicalId":165321,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121690625","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each node estimates or tracks some unknown state relying on the private observation and the fusion information from the network. Network fusion is generally a way of interaction over network, by which nodes can learn from each other and make decision mutually. Unlike conventional methods, we construct a distributed filter using Bayesian network game as a fusion tool, where all the nodes exchange their best strategies instead of exchanging local estimators. The proposed algorithm is a coalition of signal processing and game theory in network, which can be extended to more general signal processing and decision making models.","PeriodicalId":165321,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131686142","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thanks to a generalization of the signal reconstruction formula, we also present a recursive implementation of the synchrosqueezed short-time Fourier transform. The algorithm is based on a proper use of Cadzow routine and Prony's method and exploits the duality of Fourier and identity matrices. The algorithm has low complexity compared to state of the art algorithms for sparse recovery since it relies on the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) algorithm. We provide conditions on the noise that guarantees the correct recovery of the sparsity pattern. Our approach outperforms state of the art algorithms such as Basis Pursuit De-noise and Subspace Pursuit when the dictionary is the union of Fourier and identity matrices.","PeriodicalId":165321,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124700102","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Often enough, another dialectal recognizer outputs a better recognition than the dialect-specific one. In this paper, we present two methods to select and combine the best decoded hypothesis from a pool of dialectal recognizers. We follow a Machine Learning approach and extract features from the Speech Recognition output along with Word Embeddings and use Shallow Neural Networks for classification. Our experiments using Dictation and Voice Search data from the main four Arabic dialects show good WER improvements for the hypothesis selection scheme, reducing the WER by 2.1 to 12.1% depending on the test set, and promising results for the hypotheses combination scheme.","PeriodicalId":165321,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122573563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is difficult to directly apply a DNN as a discriminative model to speaker-verification tasks because the training data for each speaker are very limited. Therefore, a b-vector has been proposed to solve the problem. However, the DNN with the b-vectors showed lower performance than the conventional i-vector probabilistic linear-discriminant analysis (PLDA) system. In this paper, we propose an improved version of the b-vector DNN system, which incorporates the background speakers' information into the DNN. In this study, each input feature is paired with a representative background speaker's feature vectors, and a b-vector is extracted from each pair; thus, feeding background information into the DNN. We confirmed that the performance improvements of the proposed system compensate for the shortcomings of conventional b-vectors in experiments carried out using the National Institute of Standards and Technology 2008 Speaker-Recognition Evaluation tests.","PeriodicalId":165321,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114992162","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Deblocking filter is one of the tools used in today's video coding standards to enhance the quality of compressed video. Deblocking consumes significant percentage (~20%-33%) of total decoding cycles. Therefore, many decoder implementations tend to offload deblocking operation to additional hardware IP block or GPU to achieve real-time performance. However, hardware IP increases die area and lacks flexibility; on other hand GPUs are power hungry. In this paper, we present a reconfigurable processor based software solution along with a deblocking specific intrinsic catering to wide range of video coding standards for handling this performance bottleneck. Our experimental results show, proposed approach improves deblocking performance by a factor greater than 10 and results in processing time in the order of 140 ms for 4K UHD HEVC (60 fps, 30 mbps) stream.","PeriodicalId":165321,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115142722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
