El objetivo del estudio fue a verificar si la intensidad de una sesion de Jump, realizada con la cadencia musical de 135 golpeadas por minuto (bpm) y con la utilizacion de una coreografia solamente de miembros inferiores, esta de acuerdo con las recomendaciones del American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) para el perfeccionamiento de la condicion aerobica. Materiales y Metodos: Habian sido evaluadas 11 mujeres saludables (edad 23±2 anos, peso 61,7±8,3 kg, estatura 165,3±6,1 cm), practicantes de la modalidad Jump. Las voluntarias habian sido sometidas a un test maximo, utilizando el protocolo de Bruce en la esterilla rodante, y a un test en el mini-trampolin para verificar el consumo de oxigeno (VO2) y la frecuencia cardiaca (FC) durante la realizacion de una coreografia, durante 10 min. Para analisis estadistico de los datos fue hecha estadistica descriptiva. Resultados: Se encontro un porcentual medio para la FC de 81% y para VO2 de 64%. Resultados: Las ecuaciones de referencia publicadas no predijeron fehacientemente la MLG medida. Materials and Methods: The sample comprised 401 adolescents (BMI = 21.3 ± 3.1 kg·m -2 , 15.0±1.7 years, 222 girls, 179 boys), for which it was gathered data for the Impact of Weight on QoL (IWQOL-K), health related QOL (PedsQL), VO 2max (Luc Leger test), weight and height. Multiple mediation was assessed with multiple linear regressions and oversampling. Results: The BMI was associated with IWQOL-K (r = -0.22, p < 0.001) and VO 2m ax (r = -0.17, p < 0.001). VO 2max was associated with IWQOL-K (r = 0.31, p < 0.001) and PedsQL (r = 0.25, p < 0.001). We expected that VO 2max would mediate the infl uence of BMI on both QOL measures. The model explained 13% of the variance of the IWQOL-K (p < 0.001), suggesting partial mediation. The model for PedsQL explained 6.5% of the variance (p < 0.001), without signifi cance on the total and direct effects, although the indirect effect was signifi cant. Discussion: The VO 2max is suggested to have a stronger infl uence on the association between the BMI and IWQOL-K than with the general measure of QOL. We suggest that this result supports the fi tness versus fatness paradigm. Therefore, in addition to the goal of fat mass reduction, the efforts made to prevent and treat adolescent obesity should look to the development of the cardiorespiratory aptitude, since it may reduce the impact f weight on the QOL of the adolescents.","PeriodicalId":164994,"journal":{"name":"Fitness & Performance Journal","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128556889","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, a controversy exists if the intensity of execution of fl exibility would have infl uence on the athletic performance. The objective of the present study was to verify the acute effect of the static stretching and the proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) on the performance of jump in adolescent tennis players. Materials and Methods: To participate on the experiment it was chosen nine young tennis players, being four of feminine sex and fi ve of the masculine sex, with average age of 14.4 years-old, participants of a tennis school. The group had a warm-up participating of the activities of the tennis lesson and then they executed the jumps. After that a session of trainings of flwas carried through immediately after performing new jump. Results: After statistical treatment, the results did not present signifi cant change in the height of jump (p = 0.66 > 0.05) between the tests and post test and static and PNF stretching. La necesidad de movimientos amplios viene siendo visada como condicion imperativa en el desempeno en acciones profesionales y en determinados deportes. Mas adelante de esto, son cada vez mas frecuentes los estudios evidenciando la importancia de la flexibilidad en la prevencion de diversos disturbios neuromusculares. Este trabajo se propuso a comparar la flexibilidad de funcionarios administrativos y de produccion de una industria metalurgica de Guaxupe - MG, los cuales participan de un programa de gimnasia laborable. Materiales y Metodos: En este estudio habian sido evaluados todos 202 funcionarios administrativos y de produccion de ambos sexos, siendo 87 del sexo femenino y 115 del sexo masculino. La flexibilidad fue evaluada por el Flexiteste adaptado de ocho movimientos (flexion de cadera - FQ; abduccion del cadera - AQ; extension del cadera - EQ; flexion lateral del tronco - FLT; flexion del tronco - FT; extension horizontal del hombro - EHO; extension del hombro - EO; y abduccion del hombro - AL). Habian sido realizadas las medidas de peso y estatura. Resultados: Comparados los grupos por area de actuacion, solamente en el test de extension del hombro habian sido encontradas diferencias para los dos generos, ambas para el area de produccion. Por franja etaria, en ambos los grupos habian sido encontradas diferencias en varios tests (AQ, FLT, FT, EHO y EO para femenino; y AQ, EHO y FT para masculino). Por ultimo la comparacion de los tests por tiempo de servicio no presento ninguna diferencia en los dos generos. Discusion: Al final del estudio se concluyo que la flexibilidad de los funcionarios declina con la edad, el area de actuacion profesional no interfiere en la flexibilidad y que el tiempo de servicio tampoco influye en esta variable de la aptitud fisica, probablemente garantizado por la realizacion de la gimnasi","PeriodicalId":164994,"journal":{"name":"Fitness & Performance Journal","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125426863","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
