Worldwide, there are over 65 million people diagnosed with various types of glaucoma. According to the latest definitions, it is a neuropathic progressive disease of the optic nerve. The main divisions are primary open and closed angle glaucoma and secondary glaucoma which is caused by various systemic or local diseases. Among the most common types of secondary glaucoma is neovascular glaucoma, which can be caused by diabetic retinopathy, arterial hypertension, various vasculopathies, inflammatory processes of the eye, trauma and other factors. Neovascular glaucoma is a serious and aggressive form of glaucoma that has rapid progression and manifestations. The main symptoms are high eye pressure, pain, redness and the appearance of small vessels in the iris.There are various treatments for this disease, but mainly they are aimed at relieving the symptoms or reducing the progression of the disease. The most important therapeutic options, apart from anti-glaucoma drugs, are the application of anti-Vegf therapy and cyclodestructive treatments, which enable the reduction of intraocular pressure and alleviation of symptoms, thus enabling patients to have a better quality of life.The aim of our study was to prove the impact of cyclocryotherapy in reducing intraocular pressure in a 43-year-old female patient. age with neovascular glaucoma of the left eye. The pressure before the intervention was 41.4 mmHg, while after the intervention it decreased to 26.6 mmHg, also the symptoms such as pain and redness subsided. Key words; Neovascular glaucoma, retinal vein occlusion, cyclo-cryotherapy.","PeriodicalId":16444,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Morphological Sciences","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135611551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Tuberculosis is the second most common cause of death due to an infectious agent worldwide after COVID-19 infection. Central nervous system tuberculosis (CNS-TB), accounts for approximately 1% of all cases of tuberculosis, and the most common clinical presentation is tuberculous meningitis (TBM). Tuberculosis of the central nervous system is a devastating disease that, even under appropriate antituberculin therapy, leads to high mortality rate. In this paper we present a case report of a patient in whom the disease begins slowly, progressively and chronically, with the initial clinical manifestation of dementia syndrome. Usually, TBM presents with a subacute progressive febrile illness. In 2 to 3 weeks defines meningitis phase with headache, meningismus, vomiting, mild confusion. Rare is the atypical presentation of CNS TB, as in our case. During the hospitalization, brain magnetic resonance was performed with suspicious finding for neuroinfection, Due to the suspected finding of magnetic resonance imaging, a lumbar puncture was performed and the cerebrospinal fluid was sent for analysis for specific causes, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Correct diagnosis and therapy in these patients are a challenge for neurologists. The force should be light and continuous which will result in maximum tooth movement, with minimal root resorption and pain. This literature review aims to explore the current knowledge about initial orthodontic archwires. A literature search was conducted on the following electronic databases: PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar, as well as grey literature sources, were reviewed. The search resulted in the selection of relevant peer-reviewed articles, clinical trials as well as academic sources such as textbooks, that provide a comprehensive overview of the topic. The review highlights the importance of selecting the appropriate archwire material, wire size, and shape for optimal and predictable orthodontic treatment outcomes. It also emphasizes the impact of these variables on force generation in order treatment optimization. Lastly, discuss the advantages and disadvantages of archwire customization, a current global trend that should provide better treatment outcomes in a shorter period of time and improved patient comfort. Overall, careful selection of initial archwire is important in achieving successful treatment outcomes customized per patient needs and treatment goals.","PeriodicalId":16444,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Morphological Sciences","volume":"22 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71081817","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On clinical examination diminished bowel sounds were noted and the following abdominal x-ray confirmed our suspicion of intestinal obstruction. Following an exploratory laparotomy with extensive adhesiolysis and resection of necrotic bowel, septic shock rapidly developed and the patient was transferred to our ICU. A CT-scan was performed which revealed an extensive hepatic portal venous gas (HPVG) (Figure 1), confirmed by bedside abdominal ultrasound (Figure 2). The differentiation of HPVG from areobilia is made radiologically or sonographically. In the case of areobilia, gas is distributed centripetally due to the flow of bile towards the main biliary duct. The portal-venous flow on the other hand is centrifugal, thus gas flows peripherally. Therefore, when gas is spotted within 2cm of the liver capsule, the diagnosis of HPVG is more probable. While they may have lower infection rates, it is crucial for young people to adhere to preventive measures as they can still spread the virus, potentially affecting vulnerable populations. The pandemic and related measures have also had an impact on the mental health of young people, with increased stress, isolation, and changes in social interactions leading to feelings of anxiety, depression, and loneliness. The closure of schools and the shift to remote learning have presented challenges in terms of education and social development. Children with DS are at increased risk for more severe presentations of COVID-19 because of that efforts should be made to ensure the comprehensive and early detection of COVID-19 in this population. The aim of these case reports is to show if the comorbidities that these children have, including cardiovascular anomalies, obesity, and/or obstructive sleep apnoea [7,8], were risk factors for more severe form of COVID-19. Case number 1:In September 2021 , a 14 year old girl with Down Sy was admitted to our hospital due to fever, cough, myalgia and shortness of breath . She tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. The patient had foramen ovale apertum after birth with spontaneous closure, and recurrent respiratory infections. At admission she was afebrile, pale, with frequent productive cough, dyspnеic with low Oxygen saturation, auscultatory with bilateral pneumonic finding. She had chest X-ray with bilateral pericardial areas of consolidation (multifocal opacities) in peripheral and in the lower lobes, and elevated IL6. She was treated for 20 days with antibiotics, broncholidators, Remdesivir, LMWH, and oxygen therapy. There was slow withdrawal of the the auscultatory lung finding. Case number 2: In March 2022 , a 5 year old boy with Down Sy was admitted to our hospital due to fever, rhinorrhea, vomiting , dehydratation , cough, tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 . At admission he was subfebrile, pale with moderate dehydration with dry buccal mucous membranes, tachycardia, sunken eyes ,hypotonic auscultatory on the lungs with pneumonic finding. Chest X-ray showed patchy areas of consolidation in right pericardial area. He was treated with intravenous (IV) fluid, antibiotic and inhaled bronchodilator. There was withdrawal of the auscultatory lung finding during the 10 days of hospital stay. Case number 3: In March 2022, a 6 year old boy with Down Sy was admitted to our hospital due to fever, laryngitis with hoarseness, dry cough, dehydratation, He had Type 1 insulin-dependent, diabetes mellitus (Type 1 DM) diagnosed at age of 5. He was febrile, pale , dehydrated with hoarseness, laryngeal cough auscultatory vesicular breathing with bubbly crackles. Blood gases (ABG) was suggestive of compensatory metabolic acidosis , urine with ketonuria and glycosuria. Chest X-ray: patchy areas of consolidation in right lower lung zones. Treatment was started with IV fluid, topic corticosteroids and the regular insulin therapy. There was withdrawal of the symptoms during the 8 days of hospital stay.Conclusion: Children with Down Sy are always a high risk group for more severe and prolonged course of disease, which are partially attributed to defects of the immune system. Endodontic treatment procedure is dental procedure that is necessary when the pulp tissue is irreversible damaged, because of dental caries, dental disease or traumatic injury. When the dental structure is weakened, there is a possibility of crown or root fracture. The root vertical fracture is the third most common reason for tooth extraction in endodontic treated tooth. Endodontic procedure is successful when all the steps of dental procedure is completed. The objective of this study was to estimate whether the low taper of endodontic instrument decreases the possibility of tooth fracture and increase the percentage of tooth fracture resistance. To complete the aim of this study, were analyzed total number of 84 surveys, 42 of them were used for detail analysis. The electronic research was done using the databases as: Pub Med (Medline), Embase, Medscape, Web of Science and Cochrane Library. This study is based on review on published articles written in English language, reporting results related to the use of different intensity of conicity in endodontic treatment and the influence to tooth fracture resistance. Other inclusion criteria as date parameter of the articles was set from 2000 until 2022. The research examined in this review is of in vitro studies and FEA analysis. Some results of this research have shown that fracture resistance in endodontic treated tooth depends of quantity of dental structure. In many reviewed studies the evaluated levels of fracture, have been found to be significantly lover in groups of teeth that are endodontic treated with lover conicity, compared with the other groups of teeth that are endodontic treated with high percentage of conicity. The objective of this study is to determine the frequency and pitfalls of blunt abdominal trauma findings in multiphasic Multidetector Computed Tomographic (MDCT) examinations in patients with road traffic injuries and falls in the setting of polytrauma. After institutional review board approval with a waiver of informed consent was obtained, a retrospective study was performed focusing on a three-month period in 2023, from May to July in patients referred to our department with the diagnosis of superficial injuries involving multiple body regions – T00. A review of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), the electronic medical records and dictated reports identified patients who met the criteria of abdominal blunt trauma. A total number of 321 patients were identified, who met the criteria of superficial injuries involving multiple body regions (average age, 37.5 years). 220 patients were male. 2,8% (9 patients) had imaging findings of blunt abdominal trauma. 55,5 % of patients had spleen traumatic injuries, the remaining percentage was liver, kidney, retroperitoneal hematoma and isolated free abdominal fluid. MDCT and administration of intra venous contrast is crucial in recognizing many of the spectral findings blunt abdominal trauma. A protocol of biphasic “Combi” scan should be implemented in order to minimize radiation exposure and duration of the scan. Multiphasic Computed Tomography (CT) acquisition is key to avoid pitfalls.
