We designed a data model and a map output model of the spatial master database. Based on the model, a spatial master database service which provides spatial information for robots as well as users is developed. An experimental demonstration at a commercial facility was conducted to show usability of the database.","PeriodicalId":164337,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Algorithms","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122353683","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With RDMMI, a model of RSS distribution is created by using measured RSS and considering reflective waves. RDMMI achieves an average positioning error of 4 m, which is better than that of conventional nearest-neighbor and trilateration methods by 50 to 60%. Furthermore, it accomplishes average positioning error of 5.4 m even with a small number of non-uniformly placed RSS measurements.","PeriodicalId":164337,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Algorithms","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121204967","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While the capacity to generate such video data is increasing, our ability to derive a coherent scene understanding of the structure of the scene and how it is being utilized, using only motion data, is still lagging behind. This paper proposes a framework for deriving indoor scene structure identifying abnormal motion behavior using only video tracking data, and without requiring a floor plan. The proposed framework, which is data-driven, is based on four sequential processing steps, namely detection of entrance and exit points, the analysis of the connectivity between entrance and exit points, the extraction of mean paths and motion corridors, and the statistical analysis of the length and velocity parameters of motion for the detection of abnormal motion behavior. The paper outlines the proposed framework and demonstrates its implementation using a real-world data set comprising 1138 trajectories.","PeriodicalId":164337,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Algorithms","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126168764","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Understanding the movements and motivations of the customers enables new business strategies and is needed to minimize the risk of investment. The spatiotemporal complexity of major events poses high demands on survey and analytical methods. New technological advances in both event monitoring systems and evaluation methods of movement data provide new insights into the behavioral patterns of customers by preserving their privacy. In this paper we present a work that seeks to systematize the research process of design, collection, and analysis of visitor behavior in a mixed indoor-outdoor event setting using Bluetooth sensor technology. The defined workflow is comprised of 5 steps and designed to answer heterogeneous business questions with respect to customer movement behavior in a single event context. Our approach is applied in a real-world business application for a Formula 1 event.","PeriodicalId":164337,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Algorithms","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128904970","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This low level knowledge usually consists of the dynamic position (or more generally the dynamic pose) of mobile agents and can sometimes include the identity of mobile agents. Currently, both commercial and accademic/research PLT systems exist, but a comparison among them is difficult, as it is often difficult to compare experiments and to reproduce them in different systems. This has motivated our work in designing and realizing an evaluation platform, namely pericles, based on the use of off-the-shelf hardware. In this work we present the platform, to be used by the community for experimenting and testing different PLTs, its design choices, the implementation details and we discuss how it has been validated by using it for the testing of a PLT sytems we are currently developing (but which is out of the scope of the present paper).","PeriodicalId":164337,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Algorithms","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114602401","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, traditional GIS focuses only on outdoor space. Therefore, research on providing a unified model of the two spaces and making the navigation between and within them seamless is important. This study lays the ontological and formal foundations for a model of navigation in a unified outdoor and indoor space. Four levels of ontologies are under construction: upper ontology (being constructing by using and revising those concepts introduced in previous work), domain ontologies (structure ontologies of spaces), navigation task ontology, and application ontologies.","PeriodicalId":164337,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Algorithms","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126050869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For spaces where GPS does not work (indoors, canyons, etc.) augmented or enhanced positioning systems are necessary. For such systems to function appropriately users must have a GPS-like experience. In essence, users of supplementary positioning systems must trust the information these systems deliver. In order to develop systems that mimic the trust generated by GPS and to better understand the implications of features or changes to such a positioning system we believe a conceptual model of positioning system trust is necessary. Such a conceptual model must consider several aspects of the user and the system. The system must be accurate, with an informative User Interface that is transparent (provides context and background on positions and how they are calculated), it must use verified source data, and provide information that supports a range of users. In this paper we present the essential elements of trust for enhanced or supplementary positioning systems.","PeriodicalId":164337,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Algorithms","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133805660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It requires spatiotemporal decision making by many individual agents under circumstances that include an unknown impact of the disaster on the environment, which impedes the evacuation planning, and potentially destroyed, blocked or lacking communication infrastructure, which impedes central management. This paper suggests and investigates a novel paradigm for evacuation planning: decentralized planning based on sharing local knowledge. The paradigm is not only independent from infrastructure, and adapts to dynamic disasters, but also is as successful as centralized management in many scenarios.","PeriodicalId":164337,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Algorithms","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133994553","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It then discusses application domains and consider why current geospatial technology, with its focus on outdoor space, needs to be extended.
