Batteries are the most common power source of energy on mobile robots. Important factors for selecting battery solution as the power source includes weight of the batteries, maximum power availablility, maximum discharge rate, and the endurance of a battery. On the other hand, when the ratio of weight to energy is considered, overall, a gasoline engine is more efficient than a battery power system. This paper explains a design and realization of a hybrid energy system for a mobile robot where a gasoline engine powers an alternator to create electricity and this electrical energy is used to drive and power the electronics of the robot, with the understanding that it can only be used outside. The theory of a gasoline-electrical hybrid power system is explained and later by using a 5.5 horsepower (hp) Loncin engine and a car alternator a hybrid system is designed, manufactured and tested. The test results show the effectiveness of the design.","PeriodicalId":164248,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on System Reliability and Science (ICSRS)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133809206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, some inherent properties of SSDs result in different behavior for SSDs in comparison with Hard Disk Drives (HDDs). As an inherent property, the Bit Error Rate (BER) of SSDs increases, when the number of Program/Erase (P/E) cycles arises. This increment leads to two effects in an array of SSDs during its operation: (1) different BER on different SSDs of the system (SSD-variant BER), and (2) different BER in different time moments (time-variant BER). With respect to these two effects, the reliability evaluation of SSD-based RAIDs would be different from HDD-based RAlDs. This paper introduces a simulator called SOYA for evaluating the reliability of RAH) systems regarding different BER of SSDs. Both time-variant BER and SSD-variant BER have been considered in the evaluation process of this simulator. This simulator provides the ability to compare the reliability of SSD-based RAID systems considering arbitrary parameters in the evaluation such as disk failure rate, disk repair time, RAID-controller failure rate, RAID-controller repair time, and different levels of reliability. SOYA is the first SSD-based reliability simulator for SSD-bases RAID systems which can consider all the above-mentioned parameters together in its reliability evaluation.","PeriodicalId":164248,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on System Reliability and Science (ICSRS)","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122914697","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a nuclear power plant, typically, electromagnetic relays are used to communicate shutdown signals between various parts of safety instrumentation. Relay contact welding is a failure mode of concern. An online technique to diagnose this failure mode has already been published by this author and her team. The aim of the paper is to show that the implementation of this technique is practical using a Relay Output Card (ROC) and to highlight reliability improvement. Printed circuit board (PCB) schematic of ROC is described. Markov model is established to determine unsafe state probability of the system. Reliability analysis proves that the diagnostic circuitry in ROC significantly reduces unsafe state probability. It is also demonstrated that failures in diagnostic circuitry have very less significance on the unsafe state (steady state) probability of the system. Sensitivity analysis has been carried out by varying the test interval and proof test interval.","PeriodicalId":164248,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on System Reliability and Science (ICSRS)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131560813","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose is to rapidly evaluate the availability for lines with unreliable machines and finite buffers in the design phase. Firstly, description of production line and availability definition are exhibited. Then, an output and inventory model is proposed to calculate the system output based on the failure data. With the help of Monte Carlo technique, the availability of the whole line in different system parameters can be obtained by iterating this analytical algorithm. Compared with real-time simulation, this semi-analytical simulation can remarkably reduce the computational load to failure number level without losing accuracy. Finally, numerical examples are carried out, and the results indicate that the proposed method is flexible and efficient by comparing with other four methods.","PeriodicalId":164248,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on System Reliability and Science (ICSRS)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134294838","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In each phase, they can be treated as a linear consecutively-connected system (LCCS), and the whole system with multi-phase missions can be modelled as the phase mission linear consecutive connected system (PM-LCCS). With the development of bypass transportation system, every phase allows a limited number of consecutive disconnections betw een nodes which can also be referred as gaps. We generalized the traditional PM-LCCS model with the M consecutive gaps in each phase mission. In the proposed model, if the number of consecutive gaps in a phase mission exceeds the limitation M, the phase mission will fail; and the failure of any phase can cause the failure of the whole system A recursive algorithm is adopted to analyze the system reliability. At last, the proposed model is implemented by an illustrative example.","PeriodicalId":164248,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on System Reliability and Science (ICSRS)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132221707","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For eliminating of the negative impacts, thus enhances the DFIGs based wind turbines performance. This paper proposes a comprehensive study about the performance analysis of a 1.5 MW DFIG-based wind turbine in order to stay connected to the grid under the symmetrical and asymmetrical grid faults. This study discusses and compares the simulations of two improved protection schemes to limit the negative impacts of the grid connected faults. The investigated protection schemes are simple in construction and cost efficient. The performance of the DFIG is highly improved during the grid faults. The simulation results confirm the effectiveness of these schemes.","PeriodicalId":164248,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on System Reliability and Science (ICSRS)","volume":"116 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115399161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These efforts are manifested by the vibration of the whole structure of the machine. For the collection of data necessary to analyze the origin of these efforts are often used vibration sensors, whose function is to transform mechanical energy into a proportionate and measurable electrical signal. In the present work, we limited our study to the search for the best position of the sensor and the measurement point of taking a significant vibration. For this, we considered nine measurements points regularly distributed over half the circumference (180°) of the driving motor of a motor-fan group mounted on flexible substrates, so measurement points that have a pitch equal to 22,5°. In this installation, we have identified three zones; A, B, and C there is seen that amortization is only provided and limited by zone B. The measurements made, have led us to confirm that the measurements points to this type group of motor-fan, will be performed on the horizontal plane and loins of the amortized zone B. In addition, we have taken for this analysis both measurement, one without unbalance and another with the presence of unbalance. In the end, the FFT calculation under Matlab software of the time signal data delevred by the sensor to an oscilloscope is used.","PeriodicalId":164248,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on System Reliability and Science (ICSRS)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131224853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, classification of normal, wheeze, rhonchi, line and coarse crackles using breath sound signal recording is performed using signal processing and machine learning tools. Breath sounds were filtered from noise and segmented into breath cycles followed by feature extraction. AR Coefficients and Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) features were extracted from breath sound cycles. The extracted features are then classified using Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier. A mean classification accuracy of 88.72% and 89.68% was reported for the features AR coefficients and MFCC features respectively. The individual classification accuracy for healthy (control subjects), wheeze, rhonchi, fine and coarse crackles are 93.75%, 87.50%, 91.66%, 87.50% and 91.66% respectively for the MFCC features. Similarly, the individual classification accuracy for healthy control, wheeze, rhonchi, fine and coarse crackles are 93.75%, 87.50%, 87.50%, 87.50% and 83.33% respectively for the AR coefficient features.
