The highlights the ever-increasing recognition of the importance of positive relationships within schools for fostering student wellbeing, academic success, and staff satisfaction. The review synthesizes findings from various studies, examining the impact of positive psychology interventions on communication, trust, collaboration, and overall school climate. Both positive outcomes, such as increased student engagement and improved teacher-wellbeing, and potential challenges encountered during implementation are discussed. Additionally, the review considers factors that influence the effectiveness of interventions, such as school context, leadership support, and teacher training. The review acknowledges limitations in the current research base, including the need for more longitudinal studies and research investigating the long-term impact of positive psychology interventions. Furthermore, the review highlights the importance of considering contextual factors within schools that may influence the success of intervention implementation. In conclusion, this critical review underscores the potential of positive psychology interventions as a valuable tool for promoting positive relationships within schools. By cultivating a more positive and collaborative school environment, these interventions can benefit student wellbeing and academic achievement, staff satisfaction, and overall school climate. Future research is necessary to further refine these interventions and optimize their application within diverse educational settings. Ultimately, integrating positive psychology into school practices can contribute significantly to building thriving school communities where both students and staff can flourish.","PeriodicalId":163016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Education Management & Leadership (JEML)","volume":"51 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141007966","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study employed a descriptive quantitative survey design. This study targeted 26 registered private universities (including private university constituents where mobility rate records are too high) in Nairobi County, Kenya. The research sample size was 180 private university students and nine registrars. Version 22.0 of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used in the analyses of quantitative data. Descriptive analysis, inferential statistics, and regression analysis were used to analyse the findings. Descriptive statistics such as standard deviation, mean scores and percentages were computed appropriately. The Binary logistic regression analysis was employed to find out the extent of the effect on the dependent variables of independent variables. This study found that the mobility of students in Nairobi County, Kenya, is greatly influenced by course completion times. This study concluded that course completion time significantly influences students' mobility in private universities in Nairobi County in Kenya. Students who enrol in an academic institution of higher learning are determined to complete the whole course. It is, therefore, the role of any such institution to ensure that all possible controls are made to avoid delays in completion rates. The study recommended that private universities make deliberate efforts to ensure that course completion time improves in their study programmes.","PeriodicalId":163016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Education Management & Leadership (JEML)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127008247","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A descriptive survey approach was utilised to gather relevant data. The outcomes of this research will offer valuable insights to school administrators when making decisions concerning the allocation of school resources, with a particular focus on areas that have a significant impact on student catering services. The study involved a sample of 357 students and eight cateresses from eight public boarding secondary schools. The sample size of 357 students was determined using the Krejcie & Morgan table. A combination of census and proportionate sampling techniques was employed to select participants. Both open-ended and closed-ended questionnaires were utilised as data collection instruments. The qualitative data was presented in a narrative form, while the quantitative data was coded and entered into SPSS for analysis. Ethical research requirements were strictly adhered to throughout the study. The research findings indicated a negative and statistically significant relationship between student enrolment and the quality of accommodation services provided, with a confidence level of 0.05, r(294) = -.255, p = .000. These findings concluded that increased enrolment has an adverse impact on the standard of catering services offered to students.","PeriodicalId":163016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Education Management & Leadership (JEML)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117202726","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite the overwhelming strategies and involvement by the government of Kenya to limit the successive dropout rate in public secondary schools, the rising figure of boy children failing to complete the offered secondary school cycle is intensifying at an alarming rate. The specific objective of this exploration sought to look into the influence of school resources on the boy child dropout rate in public secondary schools in Chepalungu Sub County. This study was guided by the system theory advanced by Bertalanffy (1968). The descriptive survey research design was anchored in the research work. Exploration was carried out in the Chepalungu sub-county, Kenya. The target population consisted of 78 principals of secondary schools in the Chepalungu sub-county, 280 class teachers, 7020 from four boy students and 55 purposely chosen dropout boys. The researcher used 10 per cent of the sample size, representing 8 principals, 28 class teachers, 702 students and 5 dropouts. Data was coded using a statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) and analysed using descriptive statistics. The study findings found that lack of enough school resources and families with scanty income makes it difficult to enhance boy child retention. The exploration advocated establishing programs that would abet and aid teachers, parents and the Board of Management in promoting the education of a boy child in the Chepalungu sub-County. ","PeriodicalId":163016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Education Management & Leadership (JEML)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130284193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sound relationship stance a conducive teaching and learning environment for learners to excel. This is achieved through controlled social interaction among learners. The study adopted both descriptive survey and mixed research designs. The study targeted a total of 33,593 students, 4,986 teachers and 186 principals, out of which a sample of 380 students, 357 teachers and 27 principals was selected. Regression analysis showed that the variations of relationships could result in an improved efficacy of learner's transition in secondary schools in the County by 37.9 per cent, and it was statistically significant, p<.05. Additionally, ANOVA (F (1,206) =82.471, p=.000<.05) showed a statistically significant effect of relationships on the efficacy of 100 per cent transition in the County. The interviews revealed poor student-student and student-teacher relationships, like prefects were excessively empowered to the extent of bullying their colleagues. Therefore, the school’s management should organise team-building activities like ball games, school debates, exposure trips, clubs and societies to foster working relationships in schools to improve the efficacy of 100 per cent transition. Additionally, the need for strengthening the roles of the Guidance and Counselling department in schools was noted.","PeriodicalId":163016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Education Management & Leadership (JEML)","volume":"201 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122991127","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
