A fuzzy conflict measure is proposed in this contribution to support drought management. The proposed approach allows to detect, analyse and measure conflicts between the different actors involved in drought management, and to support the process of conflict dissolution.","PeriodicalId":162890,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence for Measurement Systems and Applications","volume":"212 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131478465","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A multilayer processing for features extraction makes the system efficient. The use of geometrically described details information makes the iris signature very efficient in reducing false positive and false negatives occurrences. Preliminary results of the proposed algorithm seem to indicate BEMD can give high accuracy in iris recognition subsystems in comparison with other techniques.","PeriodicalId":162890,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence for Measurement Systems and Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128996080","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed system merges two different approaches: Self Organizing Map (SOM) and feature based corresponding analysis. The novelty of this work consists of the used approach and the ability to work without the assumption of epipolar geometry. The proposed approach does not require a calibration stage and it does not introduce any constraint about the camera positions. The correspondence problem is solved only for few points (the barycenters of the detected moving objects) to obtain a 3D motion analysis of the moving objects. The first obtained results using two cameras seem to be encouraging.","PeriodicalId":162890,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence for Measurement Systems and Applications","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125199736","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In contrast to existing solutions our method is based on information from a single acceleration sensor attached onto the motor block. Model based signal processing using modal analysis and fuzzy logic in a hierarchical estimation scheme enables the possibility to observe engine health level. For each cylinder of the reciprocating system misfire detection and the identification of combustion failures on a per cylinder basis is possible.","PeriodicalId":162890,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence for Measurement Systems and Applications","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125468626","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed type-2 fuzzy membership function has certain values on 0 and 1, but it has some uncertainties for the other membership values. It has been shown that the type-2 fuzzy system using this type of membership function introduced in this study has some noise reduction property in the presence of noisy inputs. The appropriate parameter selection to be able to achieve noise reduction property is also considered. A hybrid method consisting of particle swarm optimization (PSO) and gradient descent (GD) algorithm is used to optimize the parameters of the proposed type-2 fuzzy system. PSO is a derivative-free optimizer, and the possibility of the entrapment of this optimizer in local minimums is less than the gradient descent method. The proposed type-2 fuzzy system and the hybrid parameter estimation method are then tested on the prediction of a noisy, chaotic dynamical system. The simulation results show that the type-2 fuzzy predictor with the proposed novel membership functions shows a superior performance when compared to the other existing type-2 fuzzy systems in the presence of noisy inputs.","PeriodicalId":162890,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence for Measurement Systems and Applications","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125727140","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Computational Grids are intrinsically heterogeneous and dynamic systems, these features make difficult to build a resource scheduler that update itself automatically, following the resource evolution. In order to build a Grid scheduling system that automatically determines which grid resource should be used for each task, in this work we present the integration of a graphical tool to represent task workflows by Petri net, with a translation service to translate workflows in a meta language and a dynamic cluster service to schedule each task in the grid resource that best meets the specific task requirements.","PeriodicalId":162890,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence for Measurement Systems and Applications","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127883453","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper we analyze and classify the ERD/ERS response evoked by the motor imagery of left hand, right hand, foot and tongue. The signals were spatially filtered by Independent Component Analysis (ICA) before calculating the power spectral density (PSD) for related electrodes, and then the Support Vector Machine (SVM) was adopted to recognise the different imagery pattern according to ERD/ERS feature for the signals. The results showed that the combination of ICA-based signal extraction algorithm and SVM-based classification method was an effective tool for the identification of motor imagery potentials, with the highest accuracy rate of 91.4% and 77.6% for the lowest.","PeriodicalId":162890,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence for Measurement Systems and Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130841498","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
